Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Big news on 1/8/13 - Pokemon X and Y

I love how nobody has said a new Anime yet... I mean, when those trailers for Black and White 2 came out, everyone was wishing for said anime. What if they finally got to getting it created and what not?

If it was anime that would be so amazing. Better graphics, more intense, less kiddish. That would be better to me than a new region or game or even remakes!!!

If they make a new Anime, I hope it doesn't discontinue the current anime, and they do both going at the same time. Ash and friends are still alright in my book.

There is a rumor for a 3DS game called Pokemon Rainbow.
It's supposed to cover generations 1-4 and introduce only 20 new Pokemon.
Including a Dragon-type Eevee & a Patrat type mixed with a pirate.

This was on GameFAQs, and it's just speculation...

The 3DS is the best selling handheld in Japan (it's stomping the Vita).
So I kinda suspect it's something on that.

Though it is kinda odd that the president of Nintendo is doing the announcement.
Plus it's from Nintendo Direct with no Gamefreak?

Maybe you'll finally be able to SEE THE POKEMON IN THE WILD. (Seriously. It was in the Pokemon Ranger series and it needs to be in the new game.)

Hope it is this Pokemon rainbow rumor. I don't want another ranger or mystery dungeon

The reason it's not anime is that this is Nintendo Direct. Video games.

They just announced this:

I called it for a 3d environment, just thought I'd add this-

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y 3DS versions, full 3D environment style games, New Pokemon, oh, the over load, I am sure some one else will fill in some more info.......

Games availible October 2013 all around the world at the same time! No waiting!

I new they would eventually put Pokemon games into a 3D environment!

Im excited, despite the less than appealing names and the ugly frog for a starter.

However, Iwata mentioned how many Pokemon there were and how much time it takes to translate games and data- then at the end he said look forward to seeing "SOME" of your Pokemon in full 3D in October.... or something like that.. Im kinda wondering if they will include them ALL- cuz if they dont... goodbye generational trading (IE a G/S-R/S break)

So lets see this mess up our TCG.if they're doing a worldwide release, How are we ment to fit all of the other sets in before the XY set.Oh well,im excited anyways!

I think that there doesn't really need to be a large gap between the Japanese TCG and the international TCG releases, as we have seen with EX delta species.

I just don't know how they are going to squash around 2 to 3 sets worth of cards and promos into one set.

People, brace yourselves for a 200+ card set.

Anyway, at what point in time did we get news of Dragon Blast/Dragon Blade? It is January now, and typically Japan has a set released in March. We haven't heard any news about their "March" set, so they might not have a set released in March.

I think their X and Y set will probably be released in November or December. This leaves Japan's July and September sets, and our August set. I am thinking that Japan won't have a September set, since they usually don't have a set right before the release of the first set of a new generation. That's probably why we have filler sets like Call of Legends and such.

The problem is this. X and Y video game is released in October everywhere. Japan typically releases a set in December, and we get it in November. So how is this going to work? Are both Japanese TCG and international TCG going to simultaneously release a set late in the year, or are we going to have a filler set only to delay the X and Y TCG set to February, or perhaps move it to January instead?

Their march set is megalo cannon with genesect and is bw9. We'll have our 8th bw set in February, so only a month behind and I believe they closed the gap a bit with red collection. Shouldn't be too hard to either do a big set or a release 2 months apart to bring us up to date.

If JPN and English sets come out at the same time though, I know for me at least, there will be less appeal of collecting the Japanese counterparts. The benefits are likely greater though.

Forgot about Megalo Cannon.

So Megalo Cannon would be our August set, then uh, um, you know what? I think the TCG will probably do a switcheroo or someting, and retain the same release gaps.

I also think Japan won't release a set in September either, considering how they don't release a set before a new generation.

So this means, we get Megalo Cannon in August, we get X and Y in November, and we get Japan's July 2013 set in February 2014.

Or perhaps we may get X and Y in February instead, considering how we ALWAYS get a set after the Japanese, and they are going to probably release X and Y in December.

I only see 2 options here.

Delay our Fall set to late December, in which our set is normally released in November
or have an early release at January for our winter set, which is typically released in February.

Here's how I like to see it. If Japan has one more set after Megalo Cannon, then we should release X and Y in January. If there isn't a set, then we should release X and Y in December. If there is a Japanese release after Megalo Cannon, then we should release it late October to give enough of a gap between it and X and Y's release in January. I hope TPCi catches on with this.

So to recap, if Japan releases a set around July, we should release it LATE OCTOBER. Now then we can release X and Y EARLY JANUARY. Now if they don't have a set in July, then we release X and Y late December, while having the second X and Y set released late February.

I don't think that TPCi won't ever not release 4 sets per year, so we have to figure out a way to fit 4 sets into a year, either by splitting a Japanese set into 2, or combining 2 Japanese sets into a large set. Japanese TCG doesn't have that restriction though, as they sometimes release 3 or 4 sets per year. For us, we always release 4 sets a year.

Based on early vids, it looks like they're STILL using the archaic 2x2 squares, rather than the free-floating 8-directional movement of games like Final Fantasy 4 DS. This is something I've been hoping for them to get past since the original DS came out. Bullados has an unhappy...

Well, gee, now I guess I have no reason to resist picking up a 3DS any longer. I put it off due to figuring I didn't exactly NEED to have all the bells and whistles, but if the system is gonna be the new norm, I'm all for it. The game teaser looked pretty cool, and I can certainly see myself with a frog starter ... lol.
