solarpichu, Pokemon is not ending. Who would think that? Have you checked to sales lately? Pokemon sells as the 2nd best card game unfortunely after MTG. But anyways imagine if they making B3W3 with 200 new Pokemon and you play in every region and catch every Pokemon including the event ones and Legendary Pokemon finally have a evolution. It would be the best selling game in Pokemon's history!
Based on early vids, it looks like they're STILL using the archaic 2x2 squares, rather than the free-floating 8-directional movement of games like Final Fantasy 4 DS. This is something I've been hoping for them to get past since the original DS came out. Bullados has an unhappy...
Like Jon, I'm kinda wondering about the "X" and "Y". .... chromosomes ... genetics ... perhaps a game for breeders ... perhaps "X" might look like a better game for girls, and "Y" a better game for boys? .... just speculation of course. Looking forward to seeing all the hype.
It sounded more to me like a reference to The Cartesian coordinate system http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cartesian_coordinate_system that is used to specify points in a plane (or three-dimensional space if a third axis is introduced). I could see the third Pokemon game being called "Pokemon Z" to go along with this naming pattern. Anyway, just a thought.
So, I am guessing that these will not be playable at all on the DSl / DSi / DS platforms... bleh...
3D gives me headaches, hence why I have not even bothered to upgrade from my DSiXL to the 3DSXL.
Guess I now have no choice... Thanks Nintendo. :/
Hmmm, I suppose that's as good a theory as any at this point. However, unless there's a rather large departure from previous pokemon games, I just can't see them putting in a point coordinate system to target a particular point on a plane (or 3 dimensional space), unless they plan on expecting us to throw the correct pokeball at a particular point on a particular pokemon to catch it - which would be prohibitably unrealistic to expect the average player would be able to accomplish it. Can you imagine how hard the game would be then? No, just from practicality, I doubt they'd try to use a point coordinate system in any pokemon game meant for use by small children, so I doubt the "X" and "Y" have anything to do with that. Just my opinion however. Again - it's just as good a theory as any at the moment however.Pretty sure the X and Y just refer to the coordinates system, and the third game in the release will be called Z I would guess.
How does the Japanese logo relate to genetics? The X and Y in one are just decorated to look like one of the two legendaries.
I agree 200%! I chose Oshawott (spelling?) for my starter, but regretted it rather quickly. I sent it to the pc for better pokemon.I am super excited.
I don't know about you guys, but I actually like these starters. I just hope their later stages aren't as disappointing as Samurott.
I feel your pain, buddy, but just think if they have new Eeveelutions ... it just might be worth it for you! I think you can dial in how much 3d you want on the game can't you? You might be able to get away with very little 3d.So, I am guessing that these will not be playable at all on the DSl / DSi / DS platforms... bleh...

Ugh, does this mean I have to shell out $175 for the 3DS? I was hoping Timmy would get by with the DS for another year or so...
My original DS cost $150, and I've used it for 10 years (and thousands of hours of play time). I'd say the cost as amortized pretty well.
