Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Big news on 1/8/13 - Pokemon X and Y

Owww, gawd .... I'm glad I know that question's just pure speculation there, Prime. However I gotta admit, that would be rather cool. The possibilities are endless with a new generation. Good post.

If they add new types into the game, I would hope that it would be 3 types in order for the circle to be fair on the types so that there is not a type that dominates like Psychic type did back in the beginning of the series.

I'd like to see a type that is resistant to Dragon, because there isn't anything so far resistant to Dragon. Dragons have been the go-to for uberness since Red/Blue.

Steel, which resists Dragon, has existed just as long as Dragon moves that use the damage formula. ;p And the main reason things like Garchomp and Salamence are good is that they have high stats, reasonably wide movepools and usually good abilities. Note that Pokemon like Altaria, Druddigon and Flygon that aren't THAT good exist.

I really hope Gen VI will shake up the battle format like Gen V did with the introduction of Hidden Abilities (still waiting for a breedable Torchic with Speed Boost). What would make me the happiest Pokemon VG fan in the world is if Pokemon could use 2 Abilities in Battle. Oh, the combination of Abilities would just make things so much more interesting.

I was kinda wondering if you were right or not. However until it is confirmed by Nintendo, it's hard to say 100% you're right - just very good at recognizing the attacks. Personally, I think that if this is right, then it would be the best news possible in my opinion, since they would both be strong and weak to their strengths and weaknesses, making the most balanced game in my opinion. Now I just hope their stats are decent.

If that was the case with their types, then we all know the most powerful starter will be the one with the highest Speed and Attack/Sp. Attack. Just like how Infernape is the strongest Sinnoh starter because of it's high stats and move pool to dominate Empoleon and Torterea.

Here's a random thought. What if Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie all somehow gained Dragon as their second typing? Again, random thought.

Yeah, I suppose you're right, and I should know enough about the game by now to realize that even if the pokemon are comparable doesn't make it so. Even 1 point difference in the stats are enough to make a difference. That can even be brought out by their natures. However, comparable is at least better than a total advantage by type.

Even though Nintendo will want to fuel the hype on the game by prancing out tidbits now and then, I think this worldwide distribution is probably the best idea for them that they ever came up with so far. Let's face it, here in the non-Japanese speaking world, we pretty much knew everything about a pokemon game coming out months beforehand just due to translators playing the game within a week of its Japanese release. This time they can dole out the info as fast or as slow as they want, and I betcha it'll still be the highest grossing game that they ever produced. We won't have any idea about what all pokemon are going to be available, but people will still want to buy it. Hey for that matter, I know that if they didn't reveal another thing until the release date I'd still buy it as of this moment. I wonder if anyone else feels the same way.

Ken Sugimori has made his art designs. Apparently there is still time change. I'm wondering if the Eiffel Tower and the Star Wars looking place will be version exclusive. Im not sure if someone mentioned this yet but on the CoroCoro pages in the Pokemon X and Y names there is a DNA looking thing.

Not sure what version and starter I should be getting. I'll probably get chespin and Pokemon y but...

I wonder if there will be a Pokemon with three types.................. this all being DNA related and all, I wonder if there will be a way to breed new type combinations.

3 types? I hope not, otherwise it would be pc fodder - unuseable. Unless it had humungous stats, or maybe ghost/dragon/electric types, that would be a terrible pokemon to use. It's bad enough to keep alive a pokemon with 2 weakness patterns let alone 3. Can you imagine a pokemon with grass and rock being saddled with another type - ANY other type? 10 different attack types would be super effective as it is! Just my opinion of course.

Just saw the video, and I must say, it looks awesome.

But is it just me, or does Chespin look like a brown Oshawott with a greet spikey hat?

It's been announced the starters are mono-typed :( There goes all the speculation on a secondary opposite weakness cycle... maybe when they evolve?
If so... Fennekin looks like it has the potential to grow into something quite mean, putting it's evo as the Fire/Dark, Froakie's as Water/Psychic and Chespin's as Grass/Fighting. Here's hoping to something creative with the starters this gen!

We've already had Fire/Dark (Houndoom) and Grass/Fighting(Breloom), and I think we already have a Water/Phychic, but I'm not certain.

Starmie is Water/Psychic. But having Fightning, Dark, and Psychic as dual types on starters would be very nice to see, because it's another "trio" of types. And Hez, the starter evolutions probably won't be mono-types, as all generations have had the basic Pokemon only being one type (the only exception being Bulbasaur).

So is Psyduck/Golduck
