Meh, it's Wednesday, and I'm bored. I think that at least 12 of the Regionals are in the system right now, and (for the purposes of this rough analysis) I'm assuming they're correct. Let's see what the numb3rs have to say about this. These are ordered by percentage increase, not by raw attendance.

Code:
[B]Regional Championship Jr / Sr / Ma = Total (Last Year) (% Difference)[/B]
North East 44 / 54 / 130 = 228 (35/41/68 = 145) (25.71 / 31.7 / 91.18 = [B]57.24[/B])
North West 100 / 85 / 179 = 364 (58/62/116 = 236) (72.41 / 37.10 / 54.31 = [B]54.23[/B])
Great Lakes 46 / 55 / 109 = 210 (36/33/85 = 154) (27.78 / 66.67 / 28.24 = [B]36.36[/B])
Midwest 39 / 53 / 89 = 181 (31/33/70 = 134) (25.81 / 60.61 / 27.14 = [B]35.07[/B])
Florida 65 / 66 / 135 = 266 (62/50/85 = 197) (4.84 / 32.0 / 58.82 = [B]35.03[/B])
West Canada 31 / 28 / 62 = 121 (31/31/29 = 91) (0.00 / -9.68 / 113.8 = [B]32.97[/B])
East Canada 37 / 40 / 76 = 153 (26/43/51 = 120) (42.3 / -6.98 / 49.02 = [B]27.5[/B])
Southern Plains 121 / 96 / 159 = 376 (121/75/106 = 302) (0.00 / 28.00 / 50.00 = [B]24.50[/B])
Mississippi Valley 71 / 65 / 145 = 281 (75/62/89 = 226) (-5.33 / 4.84 / 62.92 = [B]24.34[/B])
New England 38 / 47 / 94 = 179 (45/32/69 = 146) (-15.56 / 46.88 / 36.23 = [B]22.60[/B])
Northern California 24 / 29 / 74 = 127 (33/25/59 = 117) (-27.27 / 16.0 / 25.4 = [B]8.55[/B])
South East 25 / 36 / 73 = 134 (29/30/71 = 130) (-13.79 / 20.0 / 2.82 = [B]3.08[/B])
Mountain West 24 / 36 / 65 = 125 (23/48/62 = 133) (4.35 / -25.0 / 4.83 = [B]-6.02[/B])
Southern California XX / XX / XX = XXX (40/43/52 = 155)
Mid-Atlantic XX / XX / XX = XXX (25/42/66 = 133)

TOTAL:
665 / 690 / 1390 = 2745
(605 / 565 / 960 = 2130)
(9.91% / 22.1%/ 44.8%= 28.9%)

And, finally, a HUGE set of congratulations towards everybody who Organized, Judged, Staffed, and otherwise helped out at all of the Regionals here. Without all of your help and dedication, none of this would even be possible. Thank you, and please continue doing what you're doing to help the game!

I'd like to get a reference to how each Regional sets up compared to last year. To do this, I need to know approximately where each Regional is. Here's the chart I've got so far...

Code:
[U][B]Last Year This year Nickname[/B]
Alberta British Columbia "West Canada"
Ontario Ontario "East Canada"
Pasadena, CA Long Beach, CA "SoCal"
Santa Clara, CA Sunnyvale, CA "NoCal"
Colorado Springs, CO Salt Lake City, UT "Mountain West"
Orlando, FL Orlando, FL "Florida"
Statesville, NC Roswell, GA "South-East"
Shipshewana, IN Angola, IN "Great Lakes"
Milford, MA Milford, MA "New England"
Rockville, MD Sandston, VA "Mid-Atlantic"
Hazelwood, MO St. Louis, MO "Mississippi Valley"
Parsippany, NJ Philladelphia, PA "NorthEast"
Salem, OR Salem, OR "NorthWest"
The Woodlands, TX The Woodlands, TX "Southern Plains"
Wisconsin Dells, WI Wisconsin Dells, WI "Midwest"[/U]

Did I match these up reasonably correctly based on locations? I'll start pulling the PUI numbers tonight for the various locations..

St. Louis is the Missippi Valley Regional. That's what we have always called it.

Otherwide call it the CENTRAL Regional...as you don't get much more centered than THIS!

Thx for the names, but I'm really more concerned with correlating the attendances year to year, similar to what I did in the States attendance thread. I'm a little bit of a mathematics nerd in that way...

Are there any errors in the correlations year to year between what I have up there? Also, what label should I give to the Jersey/Philly Regional?

For Western Canada, last year was in Edmonton, Alberta and this year is Surrey, British Columbia (which is basically Vancouver, which is the city that people might have actually heard of).

Ok, now that it looks like the naming convention has been accepted, I'll start my chart like the States ones...

Code:
[B]Regional Championship Jr / Sr / Ma = Total (Last Year) (% Difference)[/B]
West Canada XX / XX / XX = XXX (31/31/29 = 91)
East Canada XX / XX / XX = XXX (26/43/51 = 120)
Northern California XX / XX / XX = XXX (33/25/59 = 117)
Southern California XX / XX / XX = XXX (40/43/52 = 155)
Mountain West XX / XX / XX = XXX (23/48/62 = 133)
Florida XX / XX / XX = XXX (62/50/85 = 197)
South East XX / XX / XX = XXX (29/30/71 = 130)
Great Lakes XX / XX / XX = XXX (36/33/85 = 154)
New England XX / XX / XX = XXX (45/32/69 = 146)
Mid-Atlantic XX / XX / XX = XXX (25/42/66 = 133)
Mississippi Valley XX / XX / XX = XXX (75/62/89 = 226)
North East XX / XX / XX = XXX (35/41/68 = 145)
North West XX / XX / XX = XXX (58/62/116 = 236)
Southern Plains XX / XX / XX = XXX (121/75/106 = 302)
Midwest XX / XX / XX = XXX (31/33/70 = 134)

Just here, I can make a couple of notes. The NorthWest Regional is going to have *significantly* more than 236 just if they match their States numbers. Florida, same thing. Midwest might or might not match the IL States numbers, but that's mostly because it's not in a live Pokemon area like Rockford or Chicago.

This is gonna be phun.....

I can all but bank on Florida, NorthWest, Southern Plains, and Mississippi Valley running 200+. I would like to see Midwest and Great Lakes hit that barrier as well, but I doubt Midwest will hit 170 this year...

I hope GL breaks 200, or comes close. They can, as MI and OH both had around 100 on the day day for states IIRC.

Ohio:149 Michigan: 108. So, if no one goes from IN, and we get 4/5 the people from those states, we get just over 200. I'm guessing we'll get almost 200.

Midwest Regionals @ Dells
