Someone's mad....but that's just a gues...

i dont know why everyones saying sp will be so great, yes it will still be good

but ive seen no mention of the fact that mewtwo x is still in to stop them

if mewtwo x becomes popular just throw a line of dialga g x in you sp deck

most sp decks have so much tech room its not a big deal

Wrong.
It eliminates all decks that needed Claydol, at least until a new draw engine is released.

There will be two competitive types of decks left:
- SP-decks (at least more variety than just Luxchomp)
- Gyarados

As I said, I'll wait for Clash of the summit, but there have to be VERY great cards (something similar to the Holon-Engine is the absolute mininum!) to keep the game alive.

That's funny. Aren't we supposed to get part of the holon engine back next set?

Unexpected, many people thought it was going to be PT on or HGSS on.
This format is going to be mad SP HAXXORz anyway. Am I the only one who is thinking "I quit?" o-O;;

I may hate the format, but I mean, its not like it'll be hard to win. Sablelock doesn't lose a card, while Uxie Donk and SpS only lose Roseanne's and some forms of Donphan also go unaffect other than switching Phanphy's. So one of them is the obvious choice. Not to mention we get 1 more set right before this kicks in, which will give life to the game with Vileplume.

Apparently from the look of this thread so far, you aren't the only one thinking that, but ..... if that's the case, I really mean no disrespect, but to be honest .... we won't miss you.

Those who find it hard to fathom a new format change of any kind but what they expect, have a tendancy to bring others down. That's not what we need. Become more flexible, people. Run with it! Go and playtest new and old ideas to see if they work well with this new format. Break it if you can. Nothing is a substitute for good honest hard work.

Good riddance to those who want to quit. Complaining and whining about the new format won't do anything, and like P_A said, we won't miss you. The less people at the tournaments means an easier chance to win for others.

Also, If Pokemon is so bad, I'm sure the loving arms of Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic will welcome and embrace you whole-heartedly.
/sarcasm

Nah, the future people want is obviously a format where . . .

1. All the donk cards are rotated, so no Machamp/Sableye/Jumpluff/Kingdra/Ambipom G/Shuppet/Donphan

2. SP decks become horribly unplayable

3. No deck can set up T1-T3, so no Uxie

4. Every tournament is dominated by elaborate combo decks that can't really attack before T3-4 and use multiple Stage 1 and 2 Pokemon of different types (better keep Claydol then).

So . . .

POP just need to rotate out LA, SF, PL, RR, HGSS, give us Vileplume RIGHT NOW and make sure all that Gengar/Lost World stuff never gets printed in English.

Easy.

What about the promo's

Hi i dont know if this is stupid but isnt claydol staying because it was a leauge promo?
They havnt said anything about them so is it staying or going?

um, yes they have. claydol is going, the set symbol on the league promo version is the SAME as a claydol pulled from a booster.

'mom

Claydol is from GE. Claydol promo has the GE tag. Everything with the GE tag gets rotated out. Therefore Claydol gets rotated out.

-Edit- Momja'd.

In the past, I would have agreed with you 100%, but this isn't exactly that much of a format change.
Claydol is gone, so Machamp won't be too huge since you can't run flychamp to improve the matchup (meaning that Machamp still loses to anything that evolves).
Even if Luxchomp loses Unown G, it gains a huge consistency advantage over just about every other deck (not calling it broken, just saying that there are a lot of benefits to playing SP).

There is always an uproar of people saying they will quit because of each rotation, but this rotation has a much larger group of people threatening to quit.
Also, to the people with the, "maybe yugioh or magic will take you" garbage, cut that out.
If somebody stops playing a card game, they do not have to start playing another (they could play video games, hang out with friends more, or do more after-school activities).

I've got a good feeling that rotation will bring a format that isn't so friendly to new players.
How much would you want to start playing a game if you had to drop a chunk of money on older cards in order to have any shot at winning a tourney?
. . .
Isn't that the reasoning for why we started with modified instead of unlimited in the first place?

Format changes happen, but when this many people dislike it this strongly, then maybe they have a valid reason for their opinion.

Edit: Tags made me laugh.

every year, this happens:

1) people spend months speculating as to what the format change will be
2) the format change is announced, it surprises most people
3) most people complain about how the cards we lose are too important and some cards will be way too powerful (a few are happy that not everyone will be running things like unown g or holon transceiver, for whatever reason)
4) despite people complaining and hating, THE POKEMON TCG CONTINUES TO GROW

i think we'll be okay, guys.

Bolt = WIN:thumb:

Funny how these "just adjust and test new stuff" people usually are the ones who never play this game themselve. I love building creative decks, test new ideas etc. I think Ive shown Im capable of building a complete anti-meta deck that wrecks... But Ive also tested against luxchomp so often that it makes me puke to even think about doing this for one more year. A deck that is completly overpwered and breakes evry single elementary rule of the game is just no fun, testing against decks where the only queston is "can they get their kingrapluffchampgengar t1 or not is not fun. Pokemon is heading into a terrible direction, while ygo is imrpoving (at least thats what ive heard) pokemon heads straight into the next abyss.

Im really flexible, I try a lot of stuff, but with Claydol gone every setup deck has its neck broken, you needed 3, 3!!! Claydol in every deck just to somehow be able to withstand the SP onslaught and youre telling me this is possible without it? Its not a matter of flexibility, its just that one deck is completly overpowered, has build in counters to EVERYTHING etc.
Ive put a ton of hard work in beating this stupid deck and now all my hard work of half a year just dissapears while luxchomp looses NOTHING. Its not like I havent thought about how to play in this format but I always end up with "this dekc had issues beating sp, even with 33 claydol and teched out just to beat it, how is it supposed to beat it without dol?"

And the only other decks that seem viable are autopilot decks like kingdra and jumpluff who are equally overpowered (but fortunatly still loose to luxchomp) . And if you nearly loose at nats because your opponent goes 4/4 on hurricane punch and nails his fainting spell as well youll understand why I personally want to see idiotic cards like gengar sf and machamp gone..

Im sorry if I get a bit emotional over this but I just feel nsulted. Ive put so much work into beating luxchomp, Ive tried so many decks and techs and stuff and in the end its all for nothing because obviously pui WANTS this deck to become unbatable. And then I get stuff like "youre just not trying hard enough, you just dont see how to counter this bla bla" from people who hardly play?

They had the perfect oportunity to slow down the game and, althouugh PT on would have had luxchomp as well it wouldve definitly been more beatable since there werent another 200 decks around you need to beat as well. AYoull also notice that most players who are known to be somewhat experiienced will agree with me here..

I also dont see the point of releasing new cards, a player who starts pokemon right now will have to spend a ton of money on sp stuff or will be unable to do much. And if people ask me how the game is right now because theyre interested in strting to play, what am I supposed to tell them. "You have nothing but coinflips everywhere and opening hands decide everything because all games are speedraces in the end"? Last guy that asked me, well I showed him lost world and he was like "ok just forget it". Doubt hell start picking up pokemon again...

@Baby Mario

Although that was probably sarcasm youre absolutly right, I want my holon days back when the game was a fight between strong pokemon and not a speedrace to the last price. And say what you want, this game takes very little skill right now...

E:/ Another thing that bothers me, why would I buy new cards? Im so tired of trying to find counterdecks, and Im willing to bet that, if I use my luxchomp list in every single BR / City next year I can top cut every time without getting a card from any new set. And its not just me complaining, Im a tournament player so Im a selfish jerk who only thinks about himself and no one here cares about what I say anyway, I know, but Ive heard complains from my leaguers as well. A kind and his father who started playing 2 years ago and really got into the game, gfoing to every single tournament that was somewhat reachable. The father used to ply empoleon back then and they reallly enjoyed playing this game, playing LONG games, if I ask him now hes like "why would I go to that BR? its nothing but SP there anyway and the games dont take longer then 5 minutes, why would I bother?". No one likes getting donked, most people dont enjoy the game being over after 5 minutes, thats just not the reason why you play a game. And people who enjoy donking others, feel good about it... well cant really write what I think about you here... I don blame anyone for donking, people just do what they have to, but enjoying it :/ ?

O.O Wow at the size of that post.

Honestly, I think this is more of a wait-and-see situation. Who knows, the next set may give us something golden we aren't expecting (Since it's confirmed to have some CATS cards and we don't know all of them) that will even the meta back out. Honestly, if it bothers you, get a bunch of friends together and make a league devoted to rogues. Ban the popular cards and extoll the virtues of Muk PL. :D
