Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

2010 - 2011 S/P/T Winner Medals Arriving!

I still say next year they should add a stamped promo card for maybe 1st and 2nd to the medal and then I will be happy. That should not cost all that much for them since they already have the promos being made. Just do a couple of print runs at end with them being stamped like the Staff promos but with First Place and Second Place. Six extra cards for each state cannot be all that much but would be great for the players.

I have been hoping for this kind of change for a while now. I was think more like the number 1 trainer cards they give out at worlds but instead something like state champion (insert year), state championship runner up (insert year), and 3rd/4th cards for states. They don't have to be legal for play, but at least it provides a little more to the players. Maybe special playmats for nationals winners? Maybe Special "winner" deck boxes for regionals?

I can accept the medals for states, and maybe even regionals, but Nats deserves a trophy. But if TPCi is going to skimp out on money to provide legitimate prizes for people who win tournaments like states/regionals/nationals, they should at least give some more swag stuff. What ever happened to the blastoise bags from back in the day? Those were kind of nice, pretty cheap to make, and even cheaper to ship. Special stamped cards like jrwaxman suggested aren't much to ask for.

I'm not saying it isn't fair, their are much more things to whine about around the world. But as a loyal player and paying customer, I'm pretty sure I can speak for many other loyal players when I say that providing some more cool stuff for winning big tournaments isn't too much to ask for, and in my opinion is what we deserve.

Don't take it in the wrong way, I appreciate all that TPCi does to keep the juniors, and the players happy. I'm not trying to come off like a greedy, inconsiderate person. I'm just throwing in my 2 cents for what TPCi could do to put smiles on the pokemon tcg communities' faces.

PS: start with announcing HGSS-on for Nationals.

Yeah third is white, and it is not as bright as first place. I'm not gonna lie, i really like the medal. like people been saying it doesn't take that much space and aint that easy to break, my brother has last years trophy and its under his bed gathering dust, and i remember last year someone broke their trophy right after the tournament, so they are a little better, imo.
Also, have you ever asked yourself why do they give medals at the olympic games and not trophies, maybe pokemon its trying to do the same? Maybe its because the have more events, and athletes might win more medals, but we have couple cities, at least two states, a regionals and a nationals, so is you are a good player you should have at least, 6-7 medals. Because remember only the best athletes get that many medals (Michael Phelps)

Since there was no 3/4 playoff this year, my bet is that the 3/4 medals look exactly the same. Or, at least, I hope they are...

Was it silver like someone else said?

3rd place has white ribbon. Medal might have been bronze, I didn't compare closely enough with the gold 1st place yet.
nope the only thing diffrrent is the ribbon color it looks just like the picture on the frist page with a red ribbon

My son received his 2nd place state's medal this week, and he was really excited... put it on as soon as he got home from school! Thank you P!P!

Edit:
My guy received his 3rd place state's medal tonight. Both feature the same medallion, while the 2nd place ribbon is red, the third place ribbon is white.

What carrier did you guys receive your medals from? I saw on a Youtube video that it was FedEx. Does that mean someone would have to be home to receive the package?

Wow. Just opened mine. They're really hideous. Looks like a toy, not a serious award.

I'm glad they're somewhat weighty, but the ribbon is ugly, and the blue color just makes it look more like a joke. With the long wait, it's really shocking to see that OP has put neither effort nor thought into the design of these medals.

I can understand the whole cost effectiveness idea and all, but it's the fans' right to be outraged. You'd think that if a medal was coming two months late, it might at least be visually appealing. The blue coloration takes away whatever seriousness it had, and it makes me feel like I just won the potato sack race at a carnival. The Play! Pokémon logo on the ribbon is also a poor choice. A solid black ribbon with no design would have been appropriate in my opinion. Also, it would be nice if the medals said 'state', 'province', or 'territory' depending on the championship, instead of 'state - province - territory' - at least ATTEMPT to make it look personalized.

I am happy that I have something with which to commemorate the tournament, but I wish it were at least half as impressive as the glass trophies. This repulsive blue medal doesn't even come remotely close, especially after a two-month wait.

What a letdown, OP.

hey, if you don't want your medal, I'll take 'em off your hands ;)

Kind of want to make a playmat with medals imbeded into them.

ummm...the 2010 glass trophies ALSO said 'state province territory', so the medals saying the same is nothing new =/

Fair point, but I was mainly griping because these medals look like a mass-produced toy that you'd find at a dollar store. The trophies were nothing like that (and personally, I think that the inscriptions on the trophies weren't important, save for the Pokémon). The thing about the medals is that the only thing they have going for them is the inscription, and Pokémon didn't even work to make those impressive.

I just wish they had done SOMETHING to make these trophies seem valuable, impressive, or at least commemorative of a serious event. And the fact that it took two months doesn't really affect me so much personally, but it does make me mad to see how little effort was put into ensuring they would ship within the month. Or even the month after states.

Quite frankly, it's apalling to me how little OP seems to care about the whole thing. I've been stunned and amazed by OP in the past (in a good way), but this is truly a letdown. And I really wouldn't be so irritated if they had at least been given away at the tournament. By mailing medals, even if it were to be the day after states, OP is already late. But over a month later?! Really! At least give us a trophy in that case; it would have been well worth the wait!

Wow, they're all the same medallion... and the only thing differentiating 1st from 4th... is a colored ribbon? What a joke. And it seems like not even the sizes are different. Come on, man. I'll defend OP on a lot of stuff, even on the decision to go to medals in the first place (given that it gave more places SPTs), but... really? 1st sure feels special now. /sarcasm

Just another sign of the downward spiral Pokemon is on. It's been over a month since my daughter went undefeated at her regionals, and still no medal.

How a multi-billion dollar company like Nintendo doesn't have the $50 or so to have these pewter medals at the tournaments is beyond all our comprehension. I'll be glad when Nationals is over so we can move on to MTG...........

just as a FYI: 4000 of a single medal design with 4 different ribbons is going to cost orders of magnitude less per unit than 1000 X 4 different designs would...and 'nintendo' =/= TPCi.
