Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

A little tired of Silly names for existing decks

Personally I dont care what you call your deck when you go to a tournament. If you want to call your Magmortar/Tylpholisan deck Blue Boy. More power to you, but when we go see the "what decks win" threads and someone was to Post Santa Fe BR Masters `1st place Blue Boy 2nd place Darkria X/Weaville. Well then that name is a problem as no one knows what Blue Boy means. If a deck is truely brand new and an imaginative name like Ambush catches on and everyone knows what is in Ambush,(Empoleon, Marrowack) then that is ok, but if last year someone was to put in a Absol EX into Ambush would they be able to then say that they invented a new deck called Sniper. And all of the sudden Sniper is a superior deck to Ambush, and Sniper will do so much better then Ambush at Worlds 2007? IF that was attempted last year it would have been laughed off as silly.

This GG/Plox debate is the same thing. There was an existing deck that everyone knew about and has agreeably been the most often played deck this year. No one person or Group could take credit for developing it as the combo was as obvious as the nose on your face. Then this established deck gets changed like almost every other deck when the new set of Great Encounters is released after Citys is over. Then someone takes the existing G&G deck list and adds a few new cards from the new set, and declares that a brand new deck has been born. When it is the exact same deck as before just with some new techs in it from the new set (I am still surprised that they have not taken credit for including Premier ball in POLX as well)

They may wish to believe with all of their heart, that their PLOX deck that they used in States/Regionals is completely different from the G&G deck that they used in Citys. But if you compare the deck lists they will still be 90% the same. Both set list still feature Gardevoir/GardevoirX and Gallade. And the entire rest of the list are techs to supprt thoes Pokes. they are not new and seperate decks. The G&G I used in December, was not the list I used in March, and not the one that I use today. But I have not created an uniqe deck each time, just tweaked it a bit when new cards are released. Some tweaks work and stay some tweaks dont and go away. But the deck list changed with time not the deck itself. And as the G&G deck name while not all that creative, was the established deck name in use by the pokemon community. One group of people should not expect to be able to arbitarilly change it to something that they think is better months after the fact.
When you are posting in a "What won" thread, you aren't supposed to use Nicknames anyways.

But yeah, thanks for the 'power' to me. I'll definitely call Magz Blue Boy from now on.

A good player who plays a deck and wins names the deck.
If they give it a good name, it sticks.
If they give it a bad name, people tend to blow them off and give it a better name, which sticks.

For example, no one who matters is ever going to call Speed Spread "Legendary Ascent".

Jimmy,
I understand most of the naming logic after the fact, but it doesn't describe the deck.
Ambush - ? Which Cards?
Four Corners - ? Which Cards , 4 types we get it.
The Answer - ? Which Cards ?
Destiny - ? Which Cards ?
Arithmetic - ? Which Cards ?
Eeveelutions - ? well, we know evee was in it, but obviously allot more.

Garny Gallade - We know the cards
PLOX - Obvious short for Power LOck,
LBS - We know
R-Gon - We know
Ludi-Cargo - We Know

Not many folks have done a good job of have there names stick. Look at the Deck Help Forum, and see how many of others names can stick? Not many.

Heck the only deck names that i use are acranymns because i dont want to think of an orignal name for rouges
(BDG, ELS) both taking the first letter since i dont really care on how comlecated the deck name is. Anothing one that hit me is that i ran Megainum d with ex and i didn't know the name until a friend told me it was called megaslam.... i have almost no clue where that name came from but it made a bit of since
I wonder why no one makes names that have a direct meaning any more.
Absolutions was basicly Absol Eeveelutions but what else.
It might just be a repeat of ^ but i am not at places where people think of crazy names and it annoys me that i have to remember what pokemon are and what combos are ment for the deck

Here are some of the deck names I've used on Lackey this year:

Storm3
Happy Storm
Thunder Storm
Fire Storm
Psy Storm
Raging Storm
Ghost Storm
Rainbow Storm
Dark Storm
Chain Storm
Storm of Locusts
Penguin Storm
Eevee Storm

I've probably forgotten some.

But, in all honesty, get over it? You have a wife and you're making threads complaining that people call their particular varients and lists their own unique names? Seriously?

Yeah, he has a wife who enjoys smacking him down with her Magmortar deck. In all fairness I DO use my "womanly wiles" to beat him. I don't have to, mind you, it's just more fun that way.

It's one thing to change something to a name that is a bit more descriptive to the changes, but take a look in the deck forum.

Rock Band is actually a cool name for Beedrill. Think about the attack and it makes sence.

I agree I mean I have seen deck with misleading names.
Like someone with a Garlade and calling it blisscario.

If you give a deck of your own doing give it a name that matches it.
Don't copy names.
Like take mine I call it Sereon Ex which is Celebii (and its name is Japan is Serebii), Leafeon, and Exegcute.
I mean if they are silly thats ok as long as they match the deck.

Name shmame. It's the deck that matters. We just do the names for the fun of it.

If you don't like the way we name our decks, put on a blindfold. Wuzzat? You hit your head on the wall? I got it, just learn to live with the deck names!!!

i ake my decks new and i dont give my deck list to any1 but my frind whos real experienced and tells me how to make it better and i think long and hard on the name if some 1 came found the deck list chaged it a littel and then changes the name i would be mad
