This makes me a sad panda. Going to have to buy at least two cases to have stuff to sell and play with. All I can say is that with these ratios it seems like we will have more expensive cards across this set( I may be way wrong about this).

Note that japanese ratios don't equal the ratios we will see. As history has shown, most likely our ratios will be worse.

I want to update and say that my ratios were slightly off. SRs can effect the number of holo-rares in a box too. My friend got 4 EX/ACESPECS and then only 5 holor rares but an SR sooooo I'm not sure exactly. Keep those in mind as a good average though!

On Worse Ratios: Keep in mind we get 8 or less trainers in a box meaning when a deck is > 50% trainers it can get very expensive very fast.

As the Bicycle discussion seems to have drowned out my question... Does Whimsicott add to bench damage?

dialga master, assuming Pokebeach's translation is correct, you'd be incorrect.

If the translation is exactly correct, the answer would actually be "Yes, Whimsicott adds bench damage." Refer to this ruling in the compendium regarding Mew (Prime) and Swanna BLW's Featherdance.

Compare Whimiscott's first attack and Swanna's Featherdance.
  • Whimisicott's first attack (from Pokebeach): "Switch Whimsicott with one of your Benched Pokemon. During your next turn, the new Active Pokemon’s attacks do 40 more damage."
  • Swanna BLW's Featherdance: "During your next turn, each of this Pokemon's attacks does 40 more damage (after applying weakness and resistance)."
The Compendium said:
Q. If I copy Swanna's "Feather Dance" attack to add 40 damage to each of this Pokemon's attacks for example with Mew's "Lost Link" Poke-BODY, and then the following turn it copies an attack like Tyranitar's "Darkness Howl" that does 20 damage to each Pokemon in play, would the +40 damage be applied to Benched Pokemon or only to the Active Pokemon?
A. Swanna's Feather Dance applies to all damage done. So the attack would do 60 damage to each player's non-Darkness Pokemon, but you ignore Weakness & Resistance on the Benched Pokemon. (Dec 15, 2011 PUI Rules Team)

Obviously, the card hasn't been translated yet, so we're yet to see what happens to the wording of Whimiscott's attack.

I'm believing Dialga Master right now since he translated some of the rulings earlier-same source, Dialga Master?

I'll look myself in a few minutes though.

Does anyone understand how Ditto exactly works? I feel like the card is lacking a lot of information it should need on it as I just don't understand the point of it as it is worded.

  • Card can be benched as a basic and immediately "transform" into any other basic, by putting that card on top of Ditto.
  • If Ditto has been in play for one of your opponent's turns, it is possible to "Transform" into an evolving basic, such as Piplup, then on the the same turn either evolve into Prinplup, or Rare Candy to Empoleon
  • EX's that are transformed still give two prizes
Those are the major things I can translate that are listed on Pokemon's website.

^ It becomes that Pokemon, right? Say I Transform into Mewtwo EX... Ditto is then Psychic type with 170 HP, weak to Psychic, 2 retreat... right?

More then that, it becomes Mewtwo ex. We'll have to wait and see just how absolute the tranformation is, but the post above yours pretty well covers the major Ditto factors. Should be interesting.

So what makes this different from playing down a basic...? Unless ditto keeps that power or something.

The thing that impresses people the most is... Ditto has 70 HP. Obviously that isn't enough to avoid a OHKO from major attackers, but early game that's amazing if the Basic you want to play is something like Tynamo. You drop your Ditto(s) and next turn Transform into Tynamo(s) and then you can immediately Evolve the Tynamo(s), so that you never got stuck with a tiny 40 HP Fighting Weak Basic Pokemon in play.

Are there other uses? Certainly. Many decks will run a single clutch attacker because it has an important Ability, Attack, and/or Type. Especially if your deck is focused on this, Ditto becomes a placeholder. I can "prep" Ditto as I would that key Pokemon, even if I am already using that key Pokemon. Opponent Fighting Weak but dishing out OHKOs? One Terrakion can become up to five... provided your deck has room for the Dittos.

It can take some finesse, though; you need to retrieve whatever was discarded so Ditto can Transform into it. Still, it beats having to wait yet another turn, for instance, to get the needed energy onto a recycled Terrakion.

Lastly, it allows you to surprise an opponent while obviously building something, including adapting to changing strategies. Not such a big deal when you're running something that can already move Energy around easily, but handy nonetheless. As an example, a Ditto you were prepping to become a Terrakion can just as easily be Transformed into a Mewtwo EX instead.

So what happens to ditto if it is transformed into a basic and gets hit with 80 damage and my opponent drops a tool on garbador? Will ditto revert back or stay the same?

I just got back into this game and i might buy a few new boxes. usually how many of such full-arts and ultra rares do I get in a booster box? I kind of like the full art celebi ex.

BW-ND: 2 FA per box and about a 33-50% chance of getting the rare Pikachu/Meowth
EX sets: 2 EX per box and 1 full art EX, with about a 33-50% chance of getting a Shiny Pokemon

Since this set also introduces Ace Spec cards, they might change the ratios again. Either way, expect about a 1/8 boxes for any specific FA.

Not sure why they would change the ratios for Ace Spec cards since their rarity is just a normal holo, they aren't ultra rares or secret rares.
