Ban Blaziken Ex: Save The Format

If it was me making the decision, I would give all EX's one per deck rule.

I agree that would be nice :) . Having one each of Rayquaza and Blaziken would still be a very good deck, but it might solve the general problem of overpowering EX Pokemon.

I am looking forward to a Stadium in the next set that does put a damage counter on some large Pokemon. Nick15's translation says all Pokemon with at least 100HP (not likely, too broken) with some unknown text about Pokemon EX, that card would be balanced it it applied to all Pokemon EX with 100HP or more. That, unfortunately, is at least 3 months away and we still have the problem of Blaziken EX being more powerful than the other EX Pokemon.

prime, that would destroy every staged EX pokemon out there.......

i play kingdra EX and having only 1 would force me to trash the deck, it's not a huge powerhouse but it can hold it's own....

they won't ban the card unless it really just dominates the format...... i played against and with blaze/Ex/Ray and i won twice against it and lost once, then i won once with it against a kingdra deck

i think it will depend on the situation and how people get themselves set up......... who knows, this could get interesting

But I think we can all agree that Blaziken EX is by far the most powerful EX released so far. So what shall we do with it? We have a few options:

1. We ban it - I am not in favor for this option because we would be saying that because this was so powerful that it would screw up our metagame. But if we ban this, we would have to ban all the other cards that came out that dominated the same, in which it all comes down to an opinion. I think it's not dominating, others do. So who is the upper authority of how powerful and maybe broken a card is? Until we find that out, we can't really ban the card.

2. Leave it be - I'm not much for this option aswell. I really am not having much fun playing the new game as I did the old. In the old game, you didn't have a huge advantage over average pokemon like you do now. If you got out a stage 2, it was only 30-50 hp higher than a stage one. Now, if you get out an EX, it has almost 80-90 more HP than a stage 1. That's more than double what the stage 1's HP is. That gives the player a huge advantage. Add in that EX's do alot more damage, and you can have 4 of each EX in your deck, well it's a huge advantage. So much of an advantage that I was sure something would happen before now. Others have referenced Yu-gi-oh, in which cards that give a huge advantage have been limited to a certain number in decks. SOme say that wouldn't work in this game, but who knows until they try it. All I know is that if we don't change the game now, in the future, there will be many versions of powerhouses like blaziken EX going around and you will have to embrace them or lose the game.

3. Limit them to # per deck - I think we should do this. Not only because they give the player a huge advantage over an average pokemon with 80-100HP, but because we are seeing now that some EX's can do 100 damage every turn do any pokemon. That means if your not playing EX's, the game is about over. At most, a non-ex deck has 120HP, but blaziken EX can do 100 damage in one shot, to any pokemon. Meaning benched basics die, beneched stage 1's die, and most stage 2's die that of course are not EX. This is way too powerful. If we don't limit them, EX's in general I mean, decks will become EX and nothing but EX.

How do you stand up against someone with a gun? You get a gun yourself. THen your opponent gets a bigger gun. You then get a bigger gun that your opponent. That is how I am seeing this game turn out. THe pokemon are getting bigger and badder and the only way to stand up to them is to use them against each other. Meaning the decks me make are becoming less and less inventive, or original and more and more EX dependant and similar. How do you beat blaziken EX? Well you get out your blaziken EX before your opponent gets out their blaziken EX. But I don't like that.

I agree with number 3. Banning seems so un-American! Let them play it, but limit it. I think all EX's should be limited to 2 per deck of one EX card. Or maybe even 2 per deck, period.
Has anyone seen the new Team Aqua vs. Team Magma Rule book?? Maybe this problem has already been taken care of.

Very elaborate options there for Blaziken EX Prime. You make a good point towards the end of your post. The bigger and better the EX pokemon gets, the harder it is for other of the 6 sets of Pokemon cards could be played. I mean AQ Scizor ain't nothing now and that card was legendary. The way you played it was very strategic. That made room for Gatr and the famous Entei/Magcargo and even NR Kabutops. In the Neon format it was so much better, but now its nothing.

Now its 7 sets in the format and this one card is ruling it all.

We have a major issue with limiting its number in decks...I run 1 or 2 as it is only! You dont need more than 1 for the deck to win. That is not an excuse as the decks broken BECAUSE it can be splashed in with just 1 or 2 and still dominate. Restricting it does absolutely NOTHING to stop it.

FOr those of you who doubt its broken and want to see first, wait and see what happens if it is not banned. I will be laughing, off playing the new Marvel TCG as its at least worth TESTING in until this card is gone as until than it is not even WORTH testing as this deck is the hands down BEST.

Whoever said they won 2 vs a Blaziken EX Blaz Ray Amphy deck, challenge me over apprentice. Ill prove to you what the deck does when ran PROPERLY. I also would like to say that Kyogre, you say that we have discussed dieas already that beat the deck...yet no idea yet suggested does so. Kabutops EX does NOT beat Blaziken. Too flippy, its a stage 2, has no strong draw engine, gives up 2 prizes, and simply gets OHKOed by an Ampharos. The simple way to beat the deck is as follows.

Start attacking with a Blaziken. Force them to answer it. They KO it ( ASSUMING it flips well ) and have 5 prizes left. You KO it with Rayquaza and you have 4 prizes left. Lets say they bring up another Kabutops, play a crustal shard, and get 2 heads and KO Rayquaza. That puts them at 3 prizes. You drop a 2nd Rayquaza ( Easy to get due to Delcatty Oracle and early game Dunsparce ) and OHKO them again. This puts you at 2 prizes to their three. ASSUMING they can even pull off 3 Kabutops EX in a row, and get 2 heads on all of them AND have 2 crystal shard, they can KO Rayquaza again. Bring up Ampharos and KO them for 160. You win. This is ASSUMING they get the flips and cards they need, AND you dont promote Ampharos at all. Kabutops EX doesn;t even work against NORMAL BAR. It wont work against Blaz EX at all.

Omastar also does not work as it takes too long to power up, and in that instance all BAR needs to do is manually evolve an Ampharos and win with it. Or manually attach to a Rayquaza. EVen when devolving its too much often as Omastar needs to power up manually. Its not a BAD card and by FAR more effective than anything else suggested so far. As in infinitely so.

Suicune EX is the worst idea IMAGINABLE. First off, note its HP. 100. The second he hits play, Blaziken EX smiles, and hits him for 100 on the bench netting you 2 prizes. GOOD GAME.

I would bet money that Team Aqua's Manectric is a misprint and it is suppose to be to another Pokemon with Team Aqua's with its name. If that were true we would not be having this conversation. Think about it, once Expedition rolls out then this deck is anything but broken. If you all want something to happen then have Nintendo change the wording on Manectric.

From fakecard.com, the original Japanese text:

[POWER] Power Trance
Once during your turn (before you attack), you may move one Energy card
from one of your Pokemon with Aqua in its name to another one of your
Pokemon with Aqua in its name. This power can't be used if Aqua's
Manectric is affected by a Special Condition

There you go. Anyone know what PUI's policy is on card errors such as this?

Listen guys, like Chris (T-tar) said already, limiting it to 1 is not going to do anything. It needs to be banned.

Now, another point. Someone said that if we ban Blaze ex, we have to ban every other strong cards or whatever. What else is so strong? Blaze/Ray is a very very good deck, probably the best in the format. However, this new set has some things that can probably deal with it i'm sure. Now I know you're going to say "but hey, we haven't tested to see if things break down Blaze ex." But we have. There is nothing lol. I think there are new cards that can make new decks that should be able to deal with Blaze/Ray, but CERTAINLY CANNOT BEAT BLAZIKEN EX.

This card has to banned, or else people will drop out of the game. Seriously, the person running this deck at state... wins. If another person that's decent with the deck runs it, they'll get 2nd. It will be the only real strong deck.

w/o blaziken ex, there are plenty of decks that are still strong. Even though Blaze/Ray dominated most of the CC's, doesn't mean its unbeatable. BLaziken ex is unbeatable. It needs to be banned.

The proof will be in the pudding.
I doubt PUI will do anything like that until after it shows its dominance.

Blaziken ex shouldn't be banned or one per deck.Sure he's a good card but not broken. There's been alot of "broken" cards in the game and only 2 were so "unbeatable" that they were banned.Yet they could still be beaten, not easily mind u but they could be beaten.Gardevior ex still has alot of power over him in E-on and EX-on.

Maybe they don't have to "ban" the card, but maybe "suspend" it. Meaning, take it out of the format until the format changes to a point where it's no longer unfair. I also think the 1 copy per deck for EX's would be fair, except for Kingdra decks.

Crap Blaziken EX blows Aggron EX out the water and that deck dkates made with Steelix/Xatu and that deck is awesome.

BAR doesn't always beat gardevior ex.Those 2 IMO r the top decks right now.they both get set up fast and r almost unbeatable once they r set up.Adding Blaziken ex just IMO adds a big weakness to BAR, against water and psychic. It shouldn't be banned,or limited. It's a good card but like every other card it can be beaten.I don't see why everyone's so afraid of this card.

yea, that is my AggronEx w/xatu is my fav deck right now and imo the most fun to play (however my fav type is fire, so im torn) and aggronEx's biggest problem b4 was Ninken followed by BAR. (nineken over bar b/c ninken has the type addvange as aposed to rayquaza and ninken can do unlimited dammage unlike blaziken, the only fire pokemon in BAR) anyway now its a joke and there is no way that aggronEX can beat a BAR deck with blazkienEX teched in. I dont know i like the card, but i HATE banning cards, i say just play it if you want to and if you dont want to then dont

:D :D

I may have one tiny solution. Why not stall with Wobbuffet? Even though where ever Wobbuffet is, its not a risk at all. Of course if your main pokemon gets knocked out, then you have Wobbuffet to stall against either RayquazaEX and BlazikenEX. And most likely Wobbuffet can go toe to toe with the Firestarter Blaziken.
(Bahh, just off the top of my head)

TO ALL of you people:

I have been playing for five years and I humbly beleive I know a bit more than you guys think I do.
This card is good, but not broken.
It takes up a Torchic, which could have been a truly Broken RS Blaziken.
It's weak to psychic, which I mentioned is not fun for modified.
Aqua's Walrein does not take 4 turns to set up, it takes two with boost and archie.
No one will play 2 different ex's in a deck, (hopefully) because wobbuffet can really give them problems.
A smart player can work around this card with wobbuffet, by loading their bench with him and nothing else. Then the blaze player comes in with other Pokes to deal with Wobbu, then Wobbu eats through them all until Blaze ex is all that is left.
Whiscash can't be hurt on the bench, and it is Blaze ex's weakness.
Also, no one will play Rayquaza ex any longer because other Blaze ex's can OHKO it on the bench.

Just some stuff to think about for you guys; I'm sure a gardevoir/gardevoire ex deck with wiscash could beat a Blaze ex.
=/
