Wow sounds like they stole a lot of stuff...
Oh wait I was with Schutte all weekend except for 3 hours on sunday/monday night 1am-4am, and he didn't steal anything while I was with him. I don't know about Efrain but other than the 2 things on the last night when they were drunk, Schutte wasn't involved with theft in any way, shape or form.

Who were drunk? Our little thieves?

Yes, on the last night Schutte and Efrain were drunk. I stayed to keep Schutte out of trouble until like 1am but I was tired so i went to bed.

I hope the video evidence supports that, because from what others have been saying around here, that is a LIE.

And you insisting that they were drunk/stoned/whatever when they stole those items contradicts ALL eyewitness accounts.

Ok first off as far as I know they were the only two people caught stealing something there. Assuming that this is true everyone who had something stolen can say it was Schutte and Efrain now because they were the only ones caught. Now as I said before i was with Schutte the entire weekend and I never saw him steal anything.

If you are so sure about that, you might be able to explain why there is a 2 years suspension granted?

how's this sound.

drew (thedarktwins) was playing a game vs tracy (don't know her last name, but her boyfriend justin aka absolution was also there) in the free play area on the fourth floor. this was about 1 or 2 am on sunday night (technically, monday morning). i am sitting over on the other side of the room with sami (amphyrules). i see efrain walk over and DILIBERATELY knock over drew's suitcase while he isn't looking. he then signals for schutte to swipe it. i rush over there and tell justin to keep an eye on them.

drew was lucky that he didn't get stuff stolen. there WERE cameras, and schutte stole. why the heck would he and his mom write apology letters in the first place? stop going around in circles--he stole, and thats that.

I can back up what Ben is saying, these guys were working in tandem trying to rip off Drew's stuff and both were guilty of stealing; and I would almost CERTAINLY say that these two thieves smelled heavily like booze, and were slurring their words a bit when they were trying to distract Drew.

A written apology to POP certainly should not result in a ban reduction to 2 years! That sentence does not take into account the people who were victimized here; people like Adam are still without their stuff and should be the ones receiving apologies.

I can hardly think that either individual involved is truly sorry for what they did; it appears to me a sad attempt at sweeping this issue under the rug and hopefully keeping them out of trouble with the law. I truly hope that POP reinstates the 10-year ban for these guys; I did not feel safe in the play room that night with them around, and to only give them a 2-year slap on the wrist is absurd.

-Absolution

Ok well like I said I was only there till like 1 am, but if he did the cameras will tell all. But if they really did take anything other than the backpack(s?) then the police would have gotten them for that too. But when i woke up i went through Schuttes binder just to make sure that there was nothing new in there that he didn't trade for, because I knew he was drunk. I found nothing in it to be suspect so I put it back. So if they did really take all that stuff, then Efrain must have gotten it.

Absolution - you are the first one to mention it and it suprises me nobody said it.
Not POP should receive an apology but the victims of the theft.

I asked one of them if he received an apology and in fact he did NOT.
That's why I am so curious about when this "supposed" apology letter received POP.

If someone is really sorry about a wrongdoing, the first person to send an apology is the victim.
So my question would be: when did POP received this letter (I really believe there is one), and did this letter also included separate letters adressed in general to the victims, with the request towards POP to adress these.

If this apology letter is a general letter, than it should be forwarded to the victims too.
And at this moment they did not receive such letter.
So the question is, is there a real apology letter or is there a letter which intent it is to make "clear air".

I wonder what in their apology letter caused PUI to reduce the ban from 10 to 2 years. Was it because they said the only reason they stole was their drunkenness? Or because they pinned the blame on someone else? I remember in law class 2 years ago the teacher said that being under the influence isn't an excuse for doing a crime.

What D. A. would carry that much stuff in the middle of the night, and then, not being responsible of watching the backpack? How does anybody know, what was in those backpacks after all?

Most (if not all, please correct me if I'm wrong) of the victims here were minors; they cannot be expected to leave stuff in their rooms when they're downstairs playing and trading. I daresay that nearly everyone in that room had most of their stuff with them, because that play area should have been a safe environment for honest people.

While those people are responsible for their things, the people who stole are responsible for their ACTIONS. Taking advantage of peoples' sense of security is flat out wrong and makes it no less of a crime.

We know what was in those bags because the people who had the stuff on them knew what they were carrying, and from what the police confiscated from these guys. And may I add for you to use such vulgar language to describe KIDS playing Pokemon is disgusting.

if i am understanding things correctly, i think in the apology letters, schutte and his mother are saying that martin got schutte and efrain drunk, ergo, martin's ban and schutte and efrain's ban reduction.

but i haven't seen the letter. theres always a possibility that perhaps schutte and/or his mother said in their letters "martin made them steal" or something. i'm just presenting more possibilities. frankly, i'd like to keep out of this situation, as its escalating to new levels.

Gee, no wonder your kids are turning out so well.
Blaming the victims of the theft.
Good parenting! :thumb:

What does it matter? If your defense is, "My kid had no clue he was stealing anything of great value," that's just bizzarre!

My 11-year old kid pointed a BB gun at the neighbor child's head. He spent 6 days in lockup for it. He thought he was just pointing a toy gun.

It doesn't matter whether he "thought" it wasn't that serious.

Obviously these kids are just ignorant and without morals. However...

Lesson to be learned that people can get away with stealing very easily. Just like that, all those cards are gone, and it was only a couple kids. I'm sure there were plenty other cases of theft that we haven't heard about too. If you are carrying around all that stuff you just have to make sure you watch out for it, simple as that. I know that you get involved in games, but the fact is that it is TOO EASY to steal, and people ARE going to do it, its out of your control. So just keep a closer eye on your stuff, and it won't happen.

As for the kids who did steal, I would have liked to see a longer, if not permanent, ban. Its not just disrupting to the game - its a crime. It goes beyond the TCG.

Most people who play this game, especially at the Worlds level, are honest people.

Are you really a parent of one of these kids?

I keep my card bag either between my feet or with the strap over my shoulder at all times. =/ Even my League is plagued with theft.

Edit: then again, it IS primarily a Yugioh league..
