Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Best/Favorite Anime?? (Spoilers for Everything)

These are some of my likes and why:

Baccano!- Its been mentioned a few times, its just highly entertaining and its easy to enjoy.

Galaxy Railways- Can I be honest, I only watched this series for the con I saw it at Laura Bailey bust out luaghing at the line "This is Captain Bulge of the Big One requesting permission to pull in from the rear," and yes thats roughly the real line. Its interesting and set aboard a train, I like trains :p

Fate/Stay Night- I liked the story line and its random crossovers to mythology and history. It was entertaining and was a good mix of story and fighting to me.

Gravitation- Let me say I'm a pretty heterosexual guy and like this. The comedy is high and laugh a minute. It was a fun little series a girl I dated in high school showed me and I just sort of ran with it to the end as its hilarious if you can deal with the *scratches head for the word* male to male interest that isn't the y word. There is nothing horribly graphic, most things are implied with maybe one highly implied scene.

Cowboy Bebop- My all time favorite. The music is amazing and was perhaps the first time I cried while watching an anime. The story is AMAZING and the characters are deep. Each on gets some depth shined on them. By the end of the series I was not ready for it to end and I felt connected to the characters. The ending was brilliant with the simple word "Bang..."

.hack//sign- I love it and will always adore it. When I was younger it seemed like the best anime ever. Coming away from it I still love it, but it can't hold my top spot with Bebop. Some of the story just seemed so out of it with several episodes being a recount of the last episode from another perspective.

Ouran Host Club- This series is just fun and light hearted. Very comedic and interesting. Again if you are strictly opposed to homosexual relationships the twins will make you dislike the series, however it again is nothing graphic. The entire series is supposed to be spoofy on yaoi characters i.e. You have a book worm, a younger boy that is supposed to be cute, the tough guy and then the "twincest." As said you have to have an open mind to get into it, but its hilarious.

Soul Eater- LOVED IT. Stein, Kid and Excalibur made this series for me. Regardless of the title the series isn't a focus on one character, but it covers most of them fairly equally. No random warnings on this one, a good mix of comedy and action to be sure. Can't wait for the second season, though it may not be as good >.>

Descendants of Darkness- The overtones of homosexual relationships may be over powering for some. This one is a bit more graphic in those regards, but the series is very interesting in how it operates. The stories are a mix of humor and seriousness. If you're mature enough that you're not uncomfortable with the relationships in this series its amazingly deep.

Speed Grapher- Very interesting series with an odd assortment of special abilities. Its really hard to describe what makes this series so appealing as the plot comes together in just a very masterful way.

Full Metal Alchemist- Another LOVE of mine. The story behind the brothers was great, the way they depend on each other and work off each other is amazing. Have to admit Hughes is one of my all time favorite characters and made me cry during episode 25 Death of a Hero. Roy is another amazing character *coughminiskirtarmycough* hes that bad guy that you can't help but love. He does have to play a bit of a "villainous" role, but you still like him at the end(in regards to how he is viewed by Gracia after episode 25). The ending was good, but I will admit I didn't care much for Shamballa as it seemed to mess up a great ending for me. I have watched a bit of Brotherhood and liked what I have seen thus far.

As a disclaimer I'm neither for or against same gender relations in anime, I do however recognize it is offensive to some, neutral to others and a thing of glee to a third group of rabid fangirls. I only mention it in the descriptions is that if it is something you can't stand you should not pick it up. As mentioned only one series is graphic in portrayal so for those who can bear with hints, but not scenes you were warned.

Alright, I'm going to list another that I've thoroughly enjoyed.

Ergo Proxy~ Wow, nothing prepared me for this series, I'll say that much. Well, actually, there were a few things that prepared me, but I'll get to that. For starters, I was perusing through some anime motivational posters when I saw one mentioning this series. Basically the gist was: "NO ONE can figure out the plot of this series." I was intrigued, is it REALLY that hard to get?

I started watching and was hooked from the beginning. The series is an existential romp through the psyche of the protagonists, focusing heavily on their psychology and delving deeply into discussions on philosophy. Many things come together in ways that I couldn't have imagined, all leading towards a satisfying ending. At 23 episodes, its a bit shorter, but I'd highly recommend it for someone who wants to think a bit. Great action intersperses emotional settings laced with meaning hidden in the dialog.

Secondarily, I had just taken a philosophy class last semester, and that aided in identifying certain ideas that were exhibited by the characters. Each character's take throughout the final episode shows various views on death, the meaning of life, and so forth.
Loved the show.

This isn't a place to simply list your favorite anime, but a place to discuss WHY you like said anime. Please choose one or two and elaborate.

Lucario ~ Again, I'm not interested in a wiki article about the show, but I want to hear why YOU like the show. What about it makes you enjoy watching that anime.

I loved Gantz as well. In a nutshell its about people (specifically Kei Kuruno) dying and being revived and sent to a room in an apartment in Tokyo. They see a giant black ball named Gantz in the middle of the room and are given weapons and told they have to fight vs "alien" targets or else they will be stuck in the room forever.

The anime showed how people would realistically act if they were put in such a bizarre and scary situation IMO, which is its biggest selling point. All of the different personalities and classes that otherwise would have never met, coming together for one cause is really exciting.

I also read the manga. Oh and its really gory. :p

Just to show you a little bit about how MAJORLY epic this series is.

And the amazing thing is...That's the Funimation dub! Imagine how good that seen is in the original!

After watching that clip, I am left with the same impression I had when the series was on Cartoon Network- that the show is quite lacking. First, the animation is poorly and incosistently drawn. The female character kept changing height and shape. The eyes didn't even have a glimmer of life to them. The worst part is the inattention to detail and proportion. I realize the artist was going for a stylized look, but he didn't even follow the same exaggeration theme throughout.

Also, there is neither emotion nor conviction with that speech. It was very monotonous and flat. It was really a lot like a junior high drama production in that aspect. I found much of the voice acting in Piece to be poor at best.

To each their own, and I respect your opinion of the show, but in my opinion One Piece is one of the ten worst series I ever tried to watch- just a real piece.

I don't know why he used that particular scene. Without an understanding of what happens before/after and who that character is, it makes little sense.

And wayneegg, you sound like you are trying very hard to dislike One Piece. Lets put it this way, it is consistently one of the most popular manga (I really don't know about the anime, but it seems allright at worst) in Japan, and thats with 40+ volumes out.

Also, when Nami keeps "changing height and shape", that is called perpective. People don't get tiny when they walk away from you!

The animation isn't as good as some eps though, try watching the Skypiea arc though. Like all long-running anime now, One Piece has a stable of rotating animators that allow the show to come out on time.

It's a speech about dreaming, Greg...What isn't there to understand about it?

Maybe I don't watch enough Japanese animation, but out of all of the mainstream series, it's easily the best, especially plot-wise. Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, and Bleach's plots are all terrible, but I've found that One Piece's has actually remained consistently good for over a decade.
