Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Best/Favorite Anime?? (Spoilers for Everything)

After watching that clip, I am left with the same impression I had when the series was on Cartoon Network- that the show is quite lacking. First, the animation is poorly and incosistently drawn. The female character kept changing height and shape. The eyes didn't even have a glimmer of life to them. The worst part is the inattention to detail and proportion. I realize the artist was going for a stylized look, but he didn't even follow the same exaggeration theme throughout.

Also, there is neither emotion nor conviction with that speech. It was very monotonous and flat. It was really a lot like a junior high drama production in that aspect. I found much of the voice acting in Piece to be poor at best.

To each their own, and I respect your opinion of the show, but in my opinion One Piece is one of the ten worst series I ever tried to watch- just a real piece.

top 10 worst is a pretty low rating. I'm pretty sure I can ten worse shows than one piece.

lately, i've been loving shaman king

Which one? The truly excellent manga, or the very kiddie anime? I mean, the anime is pretty decent, but there's a lot of deus ex machina floating around there. Although, there was that one episode later on that wasn't in the manga that I thought was fantastic (rice grains).

Lol, me too. In no order:

1: Inuyasha (I partially lied...the only one in order is this, because Inuyasha is easily the worst anime I have ever watched an episode of in my entire life)
2: Dragon ball Z
3: Naruto
4: Bleach
5: at least one Gundam
6: at least one of the .hacks
7: Ghost in the Shell
8, 9, and 10: *insert three meaningless anime that don't have a hundredth of a percent of the quality that One Piece does*

I don't know why he used that particular scene. Without an understanding of what happens before/after and who that character is, it makes little sense.

And wayneegg, you sound like you are trying very hard to dislike One Piece. Lets put it this way, it is consistently one of the most popular manga (I really don't know about the anime, but it seems allright at worst) in Japan, and thats with 40+ volumes out.

Also, when Nami keeps "changing height and shape", that is called perpective. People don't get tiny when they walk away from you!

The animation isn't as good as some eps though, try watching the Skypiea arc though. Like all long-running anime now, One Piece has a stable of rotating animators that allow the show to come out on time.

I watch the Japanese Fansub for One Piece every week and it's pretty amazing, not all anime series have the kind of top notch quality it used to have back in the late 80's and early 90's but they're still just as good.

The FUNimation dub isn't bad actually and I didn't realize Cartoon Network was re-airing the series on there which If it's true is great cause there's hardly any good Anime left on that channel besides Pokemon, Bleach, Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit and a few others but not many. I wouldn't mind watching Inuyasha: The Final Act (English Dub) on Adult Swim and it'd save me the trouble of reading the manga which I already know how it ends.

Fact of the matter is that I've never been too huge of a Fullmetal Alchemist fan, it's an okay series but doesn't really excite me as much as Dragonball Z has let alone Tengen Toppa Gurren Legann which I was surprised that it only aired on Sci-Fi's Ani-Monday block instead of Adult Swim. Oh well, who still watches Adult Swim for anime anymore?

It seems like Williams Street have some kind of grudge against otaku's or something...

People's dreams never end.

However, if I was going to post a One Piece clip, it'd probably be this one:

I know a lot of people who strongly dislike the One Piece art style, because it is inconsistent and sometimes outright bizarre. Not only the style, but the animation quality can vary drastically. In fact, it even kept me from watching it for quite some time even though it's one of my favorite anime now. However, the art has never been what made One Piece great. One Piece has always been about the story and the characters.

Also, my favorite new series of the Winter Season would definitely have to be Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu and it's most likely entirely due to Shin Ōnuma's directing. So far, he hasn't directed anything that I haven't liked.

Currently reading Nana, so beautiful... I just dont dare to read on, I dont want it to end like this (I'm about 2/3s through, avoiding spoilers :p)

My favorite anime in no order:

Samurai Champloo - Watanabe's amalgamation of old Japan and Hip-Hop makes this my all-time favorite

FLCL - Perhaps one of the most hillarious takes of a coming-of-age story ever

One Piece - THIS is how one writes a shonen

Seirei no Moribito (Guardian of the Spirit) - An animated version of the first of a ten volume series of books

Legend of the Galactic Heroes - This show utterly destroys any other plot in terms of scale, characters, and themes.

Monster - a psychological/mystery thriller in animated form. Naoki Urasawa brilliantly illustrates how one man can turn all of Europe on its head.

Ghost in the Shell STAND ALONE COMPLEX (and 2nd GIG) - a look into a time where one's consciousness transcends life itself

Kaiba - an interesting take on a love story that does a deal more than present the struggle between two lovers

Kino's Journey - "The world is not beautiful, therefore it is."

Fullmetal Alchemist (and Brotherhood) - Science isn't a solution to everything.

Cross Game - Currently my favorite sports anime not named Initial D. The writing for this show is nothing short of great.

BECK - A more realistic take on a coming-of-age story.

Fantastic Children - Don't let the name fool you; it goes without saying that each turn this show takes puts something striking onto the table.

Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo - an altered, but mostly faithful animated adaptation to the famous play telling one of the greatest stories of revenge ever

Spice and Wolf - a call back to a Middle Age Europe-esque setting, this show is able to go into detail about economics and trade while keeping the viewer hooked between the relationship between its two protagonists, Lawrence and Horo.

Some of my most enjoyed anime are:
Initial D
Gintama
Gundam Wing
Rurouni Kenshin
YuYu Hakusho
Eden of the East
Ergo Proxy
Cowboy Bebop
Big O
Fist of the North Star
Guin Saga
Great Teacher Onizuka
Akagi
Kemonozume
Mononoke
.hack//SIGN
School Rumble
Kikaider
Naruto (and Shippuden)
BLEACH
Wangan Midnight

My least favorite anime in semi-order:
1. Death Note
2. Code Geass
3. Afro Samurai
4. tactics
5. InuYasha
6. Tenjou Tenge
7. Soul Eater
8. Romeo x Juliet
9. Toradora!
10. Toward the Terra

As you can see, I prefer shows that value storytelling over abusingly recycled tropes. The ones in my 'most enjoyed' list are other favorites, but not ones I like better than those in my favorites.

does anyone like Wolf's Rain, another one of my favorites. Very moving anime. For how good i thought it was i wish they would have had more episodes but oh well.

Favorite anime/soon-to-be-released anime:

-One Piece (see previous posts in thread. Unlike the other three big names I listed, it's the ONLY series I like without reservation.)
-Naruto pre-Kage Summit arc (Pain just conveniently reviving the WHOLE village was not only unnecessary, but forced and lame.)
-Bleach pre-Bount Arc (although I still watch it nowadays, it's more for the train wreck curiosity of things...)
-Dragon Ball (unlike Z and GT, the plot to this actually made a decent amount of sense, and - for the most part - was very enjoyable/funny. Although considered outdated by today's standards due to being over 25 years old, it pretty much set the bar for everything else.)

I thought it was good, but not the directors best work, Bebop gets that that nod from me. They actually did release 4 additional OVA episodes after the series ended.
May not be one of my all time faves, but I got Complete Box Set with the CD Soundtrack, so I liked it that much. lol.

Actually, that depends on how many, and what exact ones he/she has watched. If they've only watched stuff like Trigun, and Cowboy Bebop, and other all time great shows, I could understand One Piece being a "10 worst". lol..

It involved an animator and a kid with a bat that killed people, that's about all I can remember.
Paranoia Agent.

1. G Gundam. I like all of the other Gundam Series but this one, and yet it lingered on the air for what seemed like an eternity. There's no clear explanation why, either, as it completely destroyed what made Gundam Wing so cool. At least, that's my take on it. Say what you want about the series yourselves, I found it a God-awful show and I'm so glad that it's been off the air for years.
Firstly, the uniqueness is what drew so many into it I believe. Secondly, you liked "all of the other Gundam Series"? I've gotta ask, did you see SD Gundam? lol. Now that was a bad show.

Stop being in denial, all of you. Sailor Moon was a-ma-zing.
Actually I've never seen it. lol.

Anyway, onto my faves/best anime:
I think for best series that I've seen,
Neon Genesis Evangelion - It's much deeper and more philosophical then most shows, and has seen probably more imitations/wannabes then any other series/franchise.
Cowboy Bebop - A great story line and overall message. An ending you don't see coming, and one of the best soundtracks for any tv show you'll ever see. Not to mention some very memorable characters.

My personal faves,
Outlaw Star - My "gateway" show. I instantly loved this show. Nice music, good characters, and some of the best ending credit music/images I've seen to date. Plus Melfina is one of my favorite characters.
FLCL - Randomness up the yenyang. Plus, a soundtrack that may very well be second only to Cowboy Bebop.
Fullmetal Alchemist - Hugghes is an alltime great character. lol.

Stuff I like that doesn't get much attention on these threads,
Arcade Gamer Fubuki - If you're an old school video gamer, you'll get some cheap chuckles out of it. It's only 4 episodes long, and you can find the dvd online for really cheap usually.
Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu - Basically a 12episode series comprised of all the comedy left out of the first series. Watch the rugby episode, and you'll just feel the need to watch more.
Steel Angel Kurumi - Certainly not one of the best, but one of the catchiest theme songs I've ever heard.

Just my two cents.

I don't see it mentioned here, but doesn't anyone like Keroro Gunso? But is should only be watched in Japanese with subs coz the english actors are terrible KURURU WILL RULE EARTH!
