I had a lot of good matches here.
First Match vs. Jim & his LBS Modified
A close match. This one was odd, truthfully. Neither of us got a really good start. All the cards he needed to start swinging were prized and I had a Spheal out for like 9 turns, and I continuously got innapropriate cards as he was starting to set up. I finally saw my Tranceiver, got a mentor, and slowly began to get set up. He eventually pushed a Latias * up and blew away my sealeo (by this time), I pushed a Walrein EX and started to smack his bench. I felt like I got stalled out because Jim took forever and a day with all his turns. I was one turn away from getting 2 prizes from his Mew Ex when time was called. Oh well, can't win em' all.
I gave him a Holon's Castform at the end of the match as a way of thanks for playing the match.
Second Match vs. Tracy & Salamence EX
I should of probably won this one, but I didn't due to the rush of continuous attacking and forgetting my Crawdaunt's pokepower. Again, Tracy and I have a slow start and I wind up with a Castform as a starter. By the time it came down to the wire and we were both 2 prizes away from victory, he pushed Mr. Salamence after blowing electrode up and blew my Crawdaunt out of the water when I could have bounced the Salamence and all the cards attached to it to his deck. It was a costly mistake, to say the least, but it was very close.
I can't remember what I gave Tracy for a card at the end of our match. I know it was pretty decent, though. I think I gave him a Poliwhirl.
Third Match vs. Stephen & Gengar Theme deck
I didn't really want to win this match the way I did, but when I had crawdaunt EX second turn ready to start smacking for a lot of damage, I wound up blowing 6 of his pokemon from here to kingdom come. He didn't see a single evolution except for his Haunter which had failed it's de-evolution, and by then I pushed a Walrein EX and Threw Ice at it for the last prize.
I gave him a Legend Maker Mew (not the Ex) for playing the whole match and still smiling at the end of it.
4th Match Vs. Joe & Mewtric
Another good match, but the scales tilted to my favor as I wind up with everything I need for a T2 Walrein EX, energy included. His Mew EX did some solid defending, but it wasn't enough when I pushed crawdaunt with 5 energies and OHKO'd it. I did beat him for prizes.
I gave him a Makuhita and a DS Hariyama. Talented player.
5th (last Match) vs. John & Pow Block
I lost this one, but I have no regrets about it, and I think it was by far the funnest match. John's a PTO for Alberta who was wearing a Pikachu hat his wife made him. I'm not knocking that, I think it's really cool, but it seriously looks like John went out into the Pokemon Safari with a rifle and shot himself a Pokemon version of a Davie Crockett hat. It didn't help my clause, though, because I dressed up as a grunt from team Aqua. So we're both odd. We'll live. John got T-tar up real quick and started to spintail all my pokemon before I got set up. I eventually got a Walrein EX set up, and blew away two T-tars before Electrode EX went and blew itself up to give the energies to his 3rd T-tar. Needless to say, my Crawdaunt EX took it to the face like a champion.
I gave John a card too, and he asked me about it. I merely stated that I give cards out to promote good matches and happy players for a player base. John liked this idea so much that the playmat he pulled out for us to play on was folded up and given to me. This was one of the old school dual mats with the Pikachu on it n' all.
I got eliminated, so I left shortly after, only to be told later Sebastion Crema went on to worlds. Way to send a Canadian for the 15+.
Congrats to everyone, and thank you to all the people from Oregon, Washington, and Alberta who decided to sweat it out in the car.
