Holon Farmer Ruling
Everyone coming needs to read this!!
Discard a card from your hand. If you can't discard a card from your hand, you can't play this card.
Search your discard pile for 3 basic Energy cards andy any combination of 3 Basic Pokémon or Evolution cards, show them to your opponent, and put them on top of your deck. Shuffle your deck afterward.
jkwarrior said:I agree with Shane...This ruling is rediculous
1. You should HAVE to get 3 and 3
2. You should be able to get any 3 and 3 you want...even the one you discarded.
Spotter said:I wouldn't go so far as to say ridiculous, but I would like to hear the thought process behind what led to this decision. As far as trainers go, I've always been under the impression that the 'up to' wording was very specific and important. As such, although I didn't like this interpretation (I like the idea of taking whatever I could find, be it 3 or less), I believed this card to mean '3 and 3 of each exactly or you're outta luck.' Similarly, I don't see any wording preventing me from taking what I've just put into the discard pile. If its in there, its in there. Is there some other, broader ruling about cards discarded as part of a trainer's effect? If so, the whole SMP concept is in trouble, as it partially relies on retrieving (with DX Metagross' Super Connectivity power) Psychic and/or Metal energies from the discard, and a popular way to get them into the discard is with TV Reporter.
Still wondering,
S.
jkwarrior said:Wait...where did TVR come from? I thought we were talking about farmer
old man said:I would have to say that because a condition of playing a Holon trainer is you have to discard something where the other cards in reference don't have that requirement first.
