I think no one wants to go here and "sabotage" this event or that we are not appreciate what the organizers try do here.
I wish the organizers all the best and if it is a huge success and can be done on a yearly basis like the wonderful Benelux Cup, why not - I think everyone will love it.
However, I do think that just because this tournament is hyped like no other before it might be helpful if some people raise their concerns.
For example the information that this tournament might be cancelled if the hotel does not have enough reservations or at least be brought to another place is a very vital one. If I would not have insisted on an answer here, people might have still booked flights and loose money. This lack of information is a big blunder on the side of the organization. With this information, people can now go and choose the risk-free way: Book the hotel so that the tournament can take place but book the flight later, when it is safe to do so. In the worst case, there will be no tournament (although I´m really positive that this will not happen), what does people who have booked a flight do then?
There is another thing I don´t like:
That the talks of the organization with TPCI about support/invites are discussed on an official message board. I mean, we are talking about confidential information here, right? I could also go and post confidential information I have on certain things and sometimes I really would like to do so, but that is just unprofessional.
I think it is very dangerous to give people a hope which might not exist . Even the Benelux Cup is only given a high K-value and some promos by the TPCI (at least that is what I assume) and this is a tournament which exists since years and has grown in that time to what it is now. You are trying everything to promote this thing but this looks a lot like a try to use a "wooden hammer".
I like the efforts done to bring something special to the players but you have always to be careful with creating expectations.
