Expert Belt...And What It Means For The Game

I think Expert Belt is a huge plus for non-SP decks. SP decks can't afford to Expert Belt when they need to Energy Gain or Unown G for multiple matchups. Non-SP decks don't always have to worry about Unown G being attached, and can use Expert Belt without any conflicts.

i dissagree with prime. E-belt helps blaziken lvx a lot. you can be doing 100 for 2, plus with snowpoint, the extra 40 damage you take does not matter that much.

^how can you do 100 for 1? You can't have E-belt and E-gain attached so it would be 100 for 2.

Ew, but then you give up two prizes if your opponent can somehow manage to do 110, You'd HAVE to Poketurn every time you attack.

Boosted HP from EBelt puts it at 130, 40 kick from Jet Shoot makes it 90.

Hmm. That sounds a lot scarier.

"That'll do pig. That'll do."

Rhyperior + Expert Belt = Awesomeness!!

Raging Drill, Base with Belt is 2 for 50. He also now has 160 HP (190 for the X). Toss in some Healers and you have a 2 nrg Tank!! Beautiful!

lol
flygon lvx 160 hp
now depending on which flygon u lv up
if u lv up the fighting flyon 80 damage + 20 if u attach a fighting engery that turn onto it.
ok flgon from rr 60 damage with it first attack 90 if ur running dark engine
it 2nd attack know can do 130 or 160 if ur running the dark engine.
e belt makes a good deck which is top 3 bdif that much better.

E-Belt makes late game a LOT more interesting. With Spiritomb also wrecking early game, it'll be an interesting format to say the least.

I love this card. Right now, there are so many great decks I can think of! Chansey + DCE + Expert Belt = 140 HP doing 100 for 2 energy and able to heal with Nidoqueen. I'll be revising my Kingdra deck now to contain EB, Nidoqueen, and SSU. :)

I guess I didn't mean it's in anyway bad for the game,
But I just see so much random stuff with expert belt thrown on that teching against things with expert belt thrown on them is kinda impossible.

I just don't like Mismagius SF, if they have an expert belt attached I WANT that second prize.

I think too many people are looking at the upside of Expert Belt and ignoring the downside that makes it a balanced card.

What Expert Belt DOESN'T do is make bad/mediocre Pokemon into tier 1 decks. It just makes them into an easy 2 prizes for Expert Belt + a better Pokemon.

Yep, it can turn 3HKOs into 2HKO and so on. It can maybe buy an attacker another turn. You have really got to weigh that up against the double prize loss though.

Expert Belt + SSU + BTS + low Energy attacker = good
Expert Belt + random Pokemon you have always liked but was too slow/underpowered = not so good

^^ Yea alot of random things are getting thrown out.
This to me is a game changing card for both playes.Your opponent wants that second prize and you want the extra hp and damage. It kinda makes some stage 1 decks viable again.

You say that now, truth is plus 20 HP and damage can make a huge difference in a lot of pokemon.

Yep, I'm just saying that you have to consider the downside as well. And the fact that a lot of Pokemon that are already good will get better.

To be honest, I'm expecting Expert Belt to be played so much (at least at first) that they will pretty much cancel themselves out.

i think one deck getting over looked is scizor/cherrium with the belt scizor will be beast and can start the beatings early and fast scizor will be hitting 90 a turn by t2 and with the cherriums even higher (130) and his hp will 120 i think is good

I've been waiting for this card since I've heard about it way back (before SV was even released)
In theory, it should make my Scizim deck even better.

[thoughts summarized]

Expert Belt will be a blessing to things that are already meant to be impossibly difficult to knock out (Scizor, Torterra) because the two-prize penalty is less worrisome. I would be a little more fearful putting it on Kingdra than I would on Scizor, but not much. I think it's a waste on any Gengar (should be obvious), Machamp (also kind of obvious), and Beedrill. I think it's not worth it in Plox or Flygon decks for the cost. I may be wrong though (80 damage plox is kind of upsetting]. I think that the same goes for Gyarados, but I'm a lot more hesitant to say so, since it's absurdly fast and powerful even without Expert Belt. Salamence will love to see it in the metagame, though I would not be surprised if Salamence itself also ran it from time to time (I might run two of them in my build).

The metagame's stage 2s were already so ridiculously fast that they could compete with SP decks. Now that Expert Belt gives them an extra HP and power boost, lots of things will be pretty much impervious to anything short of perfect SP builds. You'd need an epic BlazeRay to beat down a EB Kingdra deck. Is it possible? Yeah. Is it likely? Nope. Same goes for Gyarados, and the only reason Scizor isn't included is weakness (which even then isn't quite so helpful; Scizor's 120 HP survives Jet Shoot unless it's burned).

I think Expert Belt was designed to help ease the passing of SP decks, when the format rotates and we find ourselves suddenly without them.
