As for the event,the masters Florida state championship trophy has never left the Sunshine State.

This year will be no exception.
 
Sunshine State will be in total DARKNESS after we leave. We will roll in and you'll never know what hit you!!! I am proud to call John & Stevie friends, actually it goes far beyound that. Having said that though once iuse up all the HOT water in the house, finish the tasty breakfast you make for me, let you drive me around town and to the event, it's game on. Arizona wants that title, needs that title, will have that title...
 
Well, there might not be a Space Shuttle taking off, but I'm sure we'll all have a good time!

Now I've gotta find some cool space-themed snacks to pack (besides Tang, of course)....

For those of you on a budget. I just did 2 1/2 stars on Priceline for $45 per night and got the Holiday Inn where the tourney is being held. Did not expect to get the same hotel so it was a pleasant surprise. Priceline is amazing!! See you all there.
 
Less than 2 weeks to go. The livingroom is full of booster boxes, trophies, and door prizes. Are you ready?

If you booked a hotel room for the event could you please PM me with your name and nights reserved. We need to make sure that the hotel knows to give you the red carpet treatment :thumb:

It's in the mid-eighties here this week. Warming up just in time for Pokemon on the Beach...
 
I am new to the game but I would love to go and watch and see pros play. I live in Lakeland, FL right now, and I was wondering if there was any way anyone else is going from or around this area. We can PM details if anyone is interested.

Randy and I have been talking and we're going to play it fast and loose on the side events.

(In other words Randy is concentrating on the primary events and trying to get him to commit to the side events is like trying to nail jello to the wall.) :lol:

That means people should come prepared for several posibilities.

  • Bring a modified constructed deck of course!
  • You should also for certain bring a 30 card deck.
  • Bring out an old favorite for unlimited constructed.
  • Be prepared for a team event.
  • Bring some cash for possible limited events as well.

If we get the required players we'll run the event!

On the limited event I've been pondering another 'team' type event to perhaps reduce one major complaint some players have with the format 'luck of the draw.'

Two players open one set of packs and build two decks from that pool of cards. A larger pool of cards should allow players to fill in some of their lines. Overall record of the two players would determine winner.

Man, Friday is going to be exciting. Anybody have any ideas as to what works with 30-card decks (besides, say, a mini-Galactic deck)?
