Gengar for Regionals

Gengar really is one of the easier decks to play. It does get a little trickier if you use a bunch of techy things like Cress lv.x with it, but its still far easier than Palkia/Dialga.

Wow... i know Dialga/Palkia is harder... Gengar may be "easy" to play, but if you have more skill with it it usually works better.

Same question as above poster.

Also.... didn't you just day that it takes a lot of skill to play?

And i just want people to know that Gengar is a deck that takes alot of skill to play, so it's not a good idea to play unless you're very familiar with the deck.

Couldn't resist that.

I am playing Gengar, it is extremely good right now. I tech a 1-0-1 Surprise Dusknoir DP and try to pop Ampharos on the same turn I played Dusknoir down so my Gengar in the hood can flip.

The deck I am currently playing got 2nd at States.

^ isn't that mitchell decks and yeah gengar/champ is a little bit unconstisteant withh the strt but if you get a good start you will ahve a good chance to kill your deck that your facing.

Except that since you posted it, its no longer a surprise...:wink:

gengar is hard to play when u first learn to play it

I wouldn't say so. It's pretty much a 'hit the weakest pokemon' type of deck. The main difficulty lies in where determining what is the 'weakest' pokemon. In a Gengar deck, the weakest pokemon isn't the pokemon with the lowest HP. In fact, it's the pokemon that requires the least number of actions to KO. For example, a KO Poltergeist would be the best course of action compared to a KO Shadow Room on the Bench at some times because it how many things it would take do it (You can just Looker's and Poltergeist compared to setting up Cresselia or Roseanning for Crobat G and then setting them up).

That's probably the main problems new Gengar players will face, as they can get set up, they can start hitting, but it's more than likely that they'll simply aim for the pokemon with the lowest HP. When it gets guarded or when that strategy no longer works, they begin to lose the edge.

i just HAD to make a comment regarding this topic-gengar will NOT beat a very solid player. the deck wins if your opponent doesnt play any unown g and benches a bunch of pixies for easy prizes or simply wins on time. otherwise the outcome of the match is decided on spell flips. various strategies can be used to play around it.

The more I am testing the more I am find that Gengar might be the play. It beats almost everything and has almost no bad match-ups. I don't expect to see the Unown G count to jump up because a deck may or may not be run. I expect Gengar to be huge, but I don't expect people to be teching for it.

As far as good players not losing to it that is just completely and utterly not true.

Only you and Con know the List...lol

I got tha list too.. Gengars a cool deck but it doesnt beat galactics imo. Its a 80-20 in galactics favor. With soo much machamp running around and low count of unown gs in decks. Gengar is a decent play for regionals.

Galactics
Machamp
Gengar
Kingdra
A.M.U

If u aint playin one of those decks u aint winning. Holla

AMU LOSES to Gengar. If you expect (as I do) a lot of Gengar you can't play AMU. I don't know what versions of SP you have been playing but last time I checked Gengar beats SP decks with considerable ease. When you say 80-20, I think you mean the other way around.

I agree with Drew. I fiddled around with Gengar and it has NO bad matchups. Its worst matchup is probably a Tyranitar deck but, thats still easy.
