Gengar for Regionals

Weavile G based decks with Skuntank are a problem for Gengar. It's not hard for Weavile to hit for 70 + weakness and let Poison KO the Gengar.

Apart from that, I agree that Gengar doesn't really have any bad match ups.

I agree with Drew. I fiddled around with Gengar and it has NO bad matchups. Its worst matchup is probably a Tyranitar deck but, thats still easy.

I think it has another. Abomasnow is a incredibly tough match-up for Gengar as well, but I don't see a lot of Snow being play. I guess that if you are a really good player and you have played Gengar in previous tournaments then if your playing a G deck then you might have an advantage as you know what they are trying to do, but other than that I see Gengar being a good choice, I am unsure if it is the best. I know right now I am not sure what I am going to play and I really don't have a Gengar built, but I still consider it an option as I can get a list together really quick or ask one of my friends who has it built, but I am pretty sure I won't know what I am playing until later today/tonight which is unfortunate.... :frown:

That is what certain techs are for...

Its a 80-20 in galactics favor.

I lol'd. I've played a few G decks, and while they're pesky early game at best, there is absolutely no way that 80% of the time, G wins. G runs way too many power oriented pokemon to make it easy for Gengar to Crobat/Shadow Room pick them off, in addition to a good heads flip here or there and the fact that you probably have a dozen or more trainers in that gigantic hand of yours.

If you're running Legos, you might slow its set-up down a little more, but if Gengar is popped before you spray or Mesprit, glhf.

80-20? Not a chance. If you even want to give G an upper hand, 55-45 at best, but I think that's even ridiculous.

And if for some reason people think that toxi g makes the gengar matchup good, ^^ Toxi G? Poltergiest says 'Ello.

 I can't think of any reason why anyone would think a Pokemon with x2 Psychic weakness would be good against Gengar.

AmphyTric isn't a great match up for straight Gengar deck . . . shame it loses to most other decks.

For Gengar (with Cress and Bats, no Machamp tech) . . .

I would say Toxitank is 80-20 in Gengar's favour.

Weavile G is 60-40 in Weavile's favour.

Dialga G/techs is 50-50. (The match I have tested most).

Palkia G/Mesprit Lock is 60-40 in Gengar's favour.
