As opposed to playing a game against a fried pickle? lol j/k

It's just not the best there is. It's nto horrible, but I really cant see either effect being good. TVR, Mary (In Some decks), Adventurer, Fieldworker, and Cozmo's Discovery even has teh CHANCE to draw more than it, and i cant see teh prize thing helping that much. If there's something prized that is so needed, so gamebreaking that you cant win without it, you are probably nto gonan win anyway =/

It's not just about the prized card making it *possible* to win, it's about having an advantage over your opponent... for example, a Flariados deck flipping over a Flareon ex. The next KO will guarantee a Flareon in hand for a future attack. The only downside is that the opponent will know you have that Flareon in hand, and can maybe play around it a little, but good Spider Trapping can't be "played around" without rather good luck...

Availability heuristic. A type of cognitive bias >_>
Exactly my point (if you read it). Nonetheless, an argument possibly contaminated by bias does not invalidate the claim. For one thing, their experience may actually be telling the correct story, even if it exaggerated. However, Hermit is one card that definitely benefits from from the "wow factor". Some unimportant additional card perhaps drawn much earlier (Cozmo), or even an invisible effect of thinning, could win many games, but this is just lost in the shuffle.

Their strongest point has not been made. It may be seen experientially (as with Tagrineth).

I still say people need to try it before ranting about how bad it is. At least one person so far has actually talked about experiences with it, rather than just going "lol it's bad, fieldworker is better!".

here is the thing... their is no "BAD" trainer, you just need to find a system to put it in...example

Field worker+ feraligatr (uf) tear down becaome a better attack and field worker becomes a better card...or field worker with Mr. Mime extra 10 damage

Prof Cosmos+aipom=5 cards per turn if you flip tails

Even Prof Birch has a combo... well mabey not birch...lol

but hermits combo is the fact that it gives you "AT LEAST" A 50% Chance of drawing into any particular prized card. Prize management has always been an important part of winning the game. The first time you get to search your deck you look for whats prized and play accordingly, hermit adds another option to prize control, and hermit is the best card ever printed when it comes to prize management.

Life Herb is no longer playable, oran berry does the same thing as potion but delayed, sitrus berry can't be attached to pokemon-ex, heal energy is a colourless energy and takes up your attach for the turn...

How does one "try" it though? How can one "try" it and keep objectivity? Placebos "work".

Here's the thing: there is no US coin worth less than 4 cents. The penny must be worth more than a 4 cents, because the nickel, dime, quarter, half dollar, and dollar are all worth more than 4 cents.

I wonder if these same people supported Maintenance back in the Base Set days because "it did something other cards couldn't do" (shuffling cards back into deck).

Wouldn't be surprised

bills maintinance was often played in holon dragtrode to shffle back in energies and get them back out with dark electrode
same with mercury

or you could play oran berry/sitrus berry/life herb/heal energy/anyotherrandomcrapcard <_<

Actually, APT won a bunch of cc's because of a T2 scizor running oran berry and potion. It's only 11-14, but eh.

maintence is a pretty good card as stated dragtrode and mecury shuffled back into deck, and befor that when i ran the Dragon Ninjask/shedinja combo, i used bills to shuffle shedinja back into my hand before i evolved... so yeah i supported bills back then.

Bill's Maintenance and Maintenance are two completely different cards.

Play it in a deck?

...
Everyone that's actually played Hermit becomes suddenly of the irrational opinion that it's good! DON'T LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU!!
Quipping and sarcasm prove little, except that you are ill-equipped. Try addressing my point.

Edited Drug references are NOT allowed. Do not use that type of phrase again.
