Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

IV Bragging/Inquiry Thread

Bold nature EV's: 148 HP / 252 Def / 104 SpA / 4 Spe

Special Wall
Leftovers Natural Cure Bold
Moveset EVs
~ Ice Beam
~ Seismic Toss
~ Sing / Thunder Wave
~ Softboiled
148 HP / 252 Def / 104 SpA / 4 Spe

The moveset of the "best Special Wall in the game" remains virtually unchanged in the transition from Advance to DP. Even with the advent of Special Fighting-type moves, Blissey is the absolute best option to handle special attackers, sporting a lone weakness to a generally inaccurate Focus Blast. Otherwise, it is simple; you switch into any special attacker, and Seismic Toss or Sing / Thunder Wave accordingly, restoring your HP with Softboiled as needed. Togekiss and Lucario, the only two Pokémon that learn the never-miss Aura Sphere, can beat Blissey soundly without the aforementioned move, which is the only other Special Fighting-type move of note.

I suggest Sing over Thunder Wave for two reasons. First, Thunder Wave is a much bigger liability in DP than it was in Advance thanks to Motor Drive Electivire and, to a somewhat lesser extent, Garchomp and Rhyperior. Second, Sing makes it harder for many of the Pokémon that feel Blissey is mere "set-up fodder" from coming in safely, making Blissey somewhat of a threat which is always a good thing. Sing is also the best and possibly only way Blissey is going to beat or otherwise impair such monumental Calm Mind threats as Slowbro, Suicune (Rest / Sleep Talk variants), Jirachi and, yes, Blissey herself, which I'll get into later. All have recovery moves and aren't even 4HKOed by Seismic Toss (which, by the way, is only available to Blissey in Advance), assuming Leftovers recovery. You should, however, watch out for Azelf when using Sing, if you have activated Sleep Clause already.

Great. But sing only has 55% accuracey, so thunder wave might be better. I'll do this and the calm nature I'm already doing, so I'll have two different blissey with 2 different statageis.

I had a Singing Wigglytuff that took down a Heatran and a Rayquaza.

What about counter? Blissey can survive almost any hit, but with the loss of 1/2 it's HP. But 1/2 700 = OHKO to any pokemon. And why ice beam? Bissey SA isn't that high. Even with EVs and 31 IVs it wouldn't be more than 200 so want to know why ice beam.

OMG seriously? LOL
Seriously. It's very luck-heavy, but it has won some matches.

Wigglytuff, Female, Cute Charm
Modest (+Sp.Atk,-Atk), holding either Scope Lens, Wide Lens, or Wise Glasses.
Water Pulse, Sing, Blizzard, Hyper Voice.
EV trained towards Sp.Atk and Sp.Def.

At the time, it was Wise Glasses. Wiggly Sung at Rayquaza on a switch in, which had Dragon Danced instead of KOing it. The opponent didn't switch out, and ate a Blizzard to the face. Sing missed on Heatran, forgot what it used. Water Pulse critted and confused, and about 3 turns later it went down.

I dunno, just copied that from a site. I myself know little of blissey. Here's another if you don't like that one:

Cleric
Leftovers Natural Cure Bold
Moveset EVs
~ Aromatherapy
~ Ice Beam / Thunder Wave
~ Seismic Toss
~ Softboiled
148 HP / 252 Def / 104 SpA / 4 Spe

This may not seem different enough from the "Special Wall" Blissey to warrant a separate set, but the presence of Aromatherapy changes the complexion of battle enough for this to be considered a different Pokémon altogether. The idea behind this is pretty straightforward; switch in on preferably a special attacker, heal up your team and probably switch right back out in the face of the likely physical threat that replaced the special attacker.

The fast-paced nature of competitive DP play makes the use of the Cleric Blissey a much bigger liability than it was in Advance, so use with extreme caution. If one of your Pokémon is indeed statused and you send out Blissey, it is the most predictable thing in the world that you'll probably use Aromatherapy, giving a physical sweeper free reign to switch in, so you're likely going to want to use Ice Beam or Thunder Wave on the switch. The more you know about your opponent's team at the point, the better, as you'd want to use Ice Beam if you expect that non-Leftovers (you would probably know, if it had taken any previous damage, and fear a potential Choice Band) Garchomp or Rhyperior to come back in, or Thunder Wave if you expect that Weavile or Metagross to switch in again.

I'm laying out the strategy and potential pitfalls of this seemingly simple and intuitive Cleric set here because it seems more and more true with every passing day that, in competitive DP play, you cannot allow any free switches to the myriad threats that need just one turn or possibly none to wreak absolute havoc. If you're a true balla you can even run Sing over Ice Beam / Thunder Wave and pose the same, decent threat as the Special Wall one above.

And that is totally cool MegaVelocibot. All of the blissey movesets on the site use Ice Beam pikamaster.

Thanks. I admit it was a lot of luck and some foolish choices on my opponent's part, but... hey, it was fun.

My UnderUsed team consists of a lot of Gen 1s and a Swalot, to mimic the best FireRed team evah. :D

I did a calm nature, as for attacks, I have softboiled and counter. But I need 2 more attacks, but can't do ice beam. I might do seismic toss however.

If you're using MetalKid's IV Calculator and narrow it down to one exact set of IVs, it will automatically calculate them or you. Otherwise, you just need to test a bunch of permutations here.

EDIT: Holy asterisks.
M Sassy #345 Lileep: 31 / 30 / 31 / 31 / 31 / 3
HP Dragon 70.
>99% of target I was going for: 31 / 31 / 31 / 31 / 31 / 2, HP Ice 70.

Is this Vulpix any good?

(Timid, HP Dragon 49)
HP 6-8
Attack 14-15
Defense 7-8
Sp. Attack 31
Sp. Defense 20-22
Speed 31

I'm not really competitive or anything, I just want it to not be absolutely terrible.

BTW, the final moveset will be:

Energy Ball
Extrasensory
Flamethrower
Hidden Power/Nasty Plot

in case it matters for some reason.

One way to find the type for HP is to teach it to a pokemon and use it on a kekleon. If you have emerald, just do a double battle with a kekleon of yours and the pokemon with hidden power, then attack your own kekleon, and you get your HP type.
