Its still possible for Tornadus/Regigigas EX to survive a Black Ballista with an Eviolite/Giant Cape and Aspertia stadium in play. The minute I saw Black Kyurem EX being spoiled I knew it was going to see play, but not to the extent where its played in the top 3 decks in one tournament. I'm going to take the gamble that neither of the Black & White Battle Strength Kyurem's will be in our February set. Instead we'll get Moltres and Zapdos. That way we'll have the three birds in one set. However, they'll appear in Mays set.

...plus since we know about it ahead of time, decks may develop in a manner so as to make the combo undesirable.

I mean, it isn't an easy card to play, and if most decks can work out something to score a return OHKO (for example), the combo would be less effective. As is, you need some form of acceleration, so unless there is a brilliant Black Kyurem EX donk deck built around Ether/Pokédex so that your opponent can basically throw his/her deck at you the first three turns and win (if you've got enough Pokémon-EX, anyway), then maybe our format will "evolve" more Garbodor decks as a counter?

Just making Tornadus EX the sole survivor also is kind of important; it wasn't exactly a hard card to work into decks, but now there is a reason for it to be the focus of a deck (if this combo ends up being that potent). Just as a reminder, this is basically me thinking aloud, so I am probably missing several elements. ¬_¬

To counter it you basically just kill Blastoise.

Regigas with eels too. Two dynomotor and a DCE drop means you outrage back for an assured OHKO. You could even play potion to ensure you can't get hit back by a squirtle or anything not beefy.

No one with a brain would attack into regigigas with that if there's an eviolite and aspertia in play. They'd just slash first >_>

Guys. Special Beam Cannon (What I call Poison Hypnotic Beam) exists in the format. Virbank City Gym exists in the format.

No one is surviving a Black Ballista.

While this is indeed the best option and something I overlooked, it may not be easiest; the deck can only exist if it becomes effective at keeping a Blastoise in play.

So as I haven't gotten to play much lately or test against Keldeo EX/Blastoise decks... how hard is this? As is often the case with decks that attack with mostly Pokémon-EX but are backed by Evolutions, if my opponent pulls off a whammy and OHKOs my Pokémon-EX with Black Kyurem EX (Ballista version), and I ignore it to take down Blastoise, am I just going to slowly get into a losing Prize deficit as I take down three Blastoise but they take out three Pokémon-EX?

Kyurem has the Rayquaza EX problem where if Blastoise goes down its pretty useless. Right now, Keldeo EX protects Blastoise. If you decide to knock out Blastoise, there will still be a Keldeo EX to knock out your own EX's.

Not if you let them take lake 2 prixzes, then you KO their Blastoise and N them. Blastoise has many Energy, Retrievals and useless stuff in that spot so that probably should work unless they get a Juniper and off that a Rare Candy + Blastoise. Also you probably should be faster so you should take out some Squirtles early game if you're playing like Darkrai or Landorus/Tornadus/Mewtwo.

I haven't been able to find any decklists for the top placers in Osaka. Have you guys had any luck? =/

I have been busy preparing for Cities, so I haven't been reading through blogs as of recently to find if any top placers have.

On another note, I updated the post with the Top 3 winning decks from Tokyo Day 1 thanks again to the Pokemon Company Japan's Twitter account for reporting it.

RestlessBob, if you could find decklists for the Top 2 of Osaka and Tokyo open league, that would be awesome :p

Anyon else seen the new leafeon? I know we're not getting it til may but when we do..... IN YOU FACE KELDEO!!

unfortunately keldeo has a problem... which is his ability.

Keldeo's ability is just INSANE.

Of course leafeon can be a problem to keldeo but not a major one. Let me explain...

First of all, an eevolutions deck is probably inconsistent. Keeping eeves at the bench will forever be a problem in a meta where there's catcher around and skyla only makes it worse to decks based on evolutions to attack.

By the way... Keldeo with 4 waters can OHKO leafeon... Leafeon can't OHKO a keldeo with the same amount of energy.

This is a problem for the following reason: Keldeo can rush in fully energized just to kill Leafeon.... and it can also run away!

The only factor that goes against Keldeo is it's own deck: If the player is affected by severe bad luck which happens to all of us 10-20% of all matches, and keldeo sets up slowly, any, i say ANY poor deck has a chance against Keldeo-stoise.

IF keldeo stoise has a good build and a competent trainer, if it sets up correctly in time, it's hard to beat at the moment.

Darkrai remains keldeo's biggest adversary with virtually no advantage to any side.

BY THE WAY, if the trainer of keldeo has 4 scoops on the deck and gets lucky on 2-3 / 4 at the right time at the game, then keldeo is totally unbeatable...
