Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Jason, Alex, and Jimmy watch

Jimmy's got prior commitments that are keeping him busy, so his CC attendance will be down this year. He does plan on making it to at least one more coming up soon.

Thanks for the updates Alex. Can you divulge the decks used. I think it'll be interesting, at the end of the season, to look back and study all of your deck choices as the season progressed. If you took any three or four really good players through out the world and watched their progress and deck choices, I'm sure you would see some interesting results. Add to that the fact that you all are in the same general area and the history between you and I think it'll be note worthy.

I'd like to keep track through out the season myself, unfortunately I'm working Saturdays and Sundays now and it's difficult for me to see the results in person.:frown:

I ended up playing Sallygross at this tourney. I don't wanna give away anyone elses decks though, incase they don't want them posted.

updated what I can. If anyone can fill in some interesting facts about these tourneys and these players, please do. Thanks

Chuck was elite at the tourney. He helped some of our players improve their decks after the event, even e-mailing suggested lists to people.

Players who played him commented on how, even though they may have lost, he was a good opponent to play against, friendly and respectful. Meant a lot to a lot of people to see this.

Showed how and what a 1337 player is supposed to act like.

Come on back Chuck, you are welcome anytime! Bring your buddy Ness too!

Chuck is the 69 time World Champion.

Is that what you're looking for?

Nice chuck

Tally up 2 more to the list of Sallygross. I won with it at Green Bay. Way to represent the deck. :thumb:

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

I'm going to South Bend,IN on sat.
Then New Berlin, WI on Sun.
probably will see Ness, Alex B. or Matt Moss at either one of those CCs.

But I wanted to make sure, and what about Jimmy? I know he is kind of busy and all.

Thanks Vince :-D.

Anywho, Jason ended up winning CC #4 today. I took the weekend off, but I'll be back in action next week to try and slow him down!

Jason was at South Bend this weekend. That room has the most anti ness voodoo in it ever.
Ness 2-2 no top cut. Congrats to our old psyduck fan who WAS ranked last in MI, US North AM and World.
(sorry Jason)

Well this weekend had an interesting development for this thread. Neither Jason nor Alex made the top cut. I’m not saying this to say anything bad about them. I’m not pointing this out to say “Ha, look they lost,” or “See, they can be beat,” or anything bad at all. It just raises an interesting question. Why did they not make the top cut? We can assume that they were practiced enough with their decks because they played the same decks that they have been winning with. So what was it?

Did they make a slight change to their decks that ended costing them?

Did they fail their decks? i.e. make mistakes (yea right), make incorrect decisions that seemed correct at the time

Did their decks/game fail them? i.e. dumb luck, bad flips

Did the metagame finally catch up to them? I believe they are largely responsible for setting them metagame in this area, so was playing the same deck again a mistake because others effectively tech’ed for them?

The answers to these questions is what can teach us about this game and serve to hopefully raise the level of competition in general.

Btw, does anyone know what was the other tourney that Jason played in and did not win, and what deck he used?

I ran Sally/Gross at every CC but my first one.
Which CC was that and what deck did you use?

At South Bend, Ness just had some bad luck ( I don't even think there was one dark deck there in 15+). He got turned 2'd by Bruce LOL and he got a less than perfect start against my Rai Eggs (bad matchup anyhow).

he also went 3-2 at Niles. I think his matchups were flariados,Ttar EX,dragonite ex/eeveelutions, typhlosion/bannette ex,and Raieggs. The 2 games he lost against were dragonite ex and Ttar EX

Angola, IN

Both Ness and Chuck made top 4 and got paired up against each other. Then Ness lost to Tracey K. in the finals.

Moss was present and I think he went 3-2 with Metanite. It surprised me that he played Metanite. Knowing that it would be bad in our Metagame.

*Tracy K.

and Moss went 2-2 drop, after he started off 0-2.
