LostGar Hype Discussion - IN HERE ONLY

*Breaks the seal* If a LG deck auto-losses to DialgaChomp then it wasn't built right. Besides, deep down in the thick of this Hyped-up Rant is some solid information that is almost certainly helping people out with their decks. What if this very thread is the deciding factor on whether someone out there breaks the bank for a set of Gengar Prime?

Then that person is an idiot. 200 dollars for a deck that hasn't proven itself...

ill win.... but it wont be banned. If they banned it then luxchomp shouldve been banned along time ago

check out my list on the deck help forum "lost gar with a twist"

I think still how lost gar wins is more BS then the fastest SP deck in the format t least it loses to SF machamp where lost gar might have a few bad match-ups but nothing extreme to where it still can't possibly win.

18 pages of pointless garbage, Despicable.

Let's end this now. Gengar prime is a gimmick deck that will only be played because of hype. The ones who build it consistently and test will be the ones to make it to the top tables, although they will find trouble when they autoloss to Dialgachomp.

Seriously, that is just a hilariously stupid post. You won't know how far it gets quite yet.

No, no, there is some seriously good insight in that post that we haven't had in the 18 pages of garbage . . .

Here we learn that Lostgar is hyped. Who knew?

The ones who build it consistently and test will be the ones to make it to the top tables,

The most successful Lostgars will be the ones that are consistent and well tested. That's pro advice right there!

although they will find trouble when they autoloss to Dialgachomp.

Dialgachomp is a bad match up. WHY has no-one thought to mention this before? That changes EVERYTHING!

Please don't end the thread there. You have given us so much to discuss. Why, we haven't even seen your fake/joke list for the deck yet :frown:

Baby Mario you just dont understand that lostgar autolosses to typhlosion/roserade ;)
Dotn feed the trolls...

Anyway, I really cant get a list down that works against all counters but fulop said he had issues beating lostagr with an sp-anti build, mhm :/

Despicable? Ok this doesn't even make sense. If you feel like the thread is filled with garbage, why would you want to add to it?

I don't recommend just taking someone's word on something like that. I don't have a problem beating any variation of lostgar with a normal sp deck. If I end up playing sp for states, I seriously doubt I would run more than a single lostgar tech.

Right, i play Machamp / Donphan and i'm loving it. I have tried to get this as meta-breaking as i can. I can obviously beat SP (though i came across one player who seemed to have teched his list purely to beat machamp!), i can beat Vilegar fairly easily and although Gyarados is a very difficult match-up i am getting to grip with that and learning how to beat it. Anything else i come across (Lockchamp, Scizor etc etc) is usually pretty darn winnable too.

So now we come to Lostgar. First i have a question: Does anyone think Donphan / Machamp can beat Lostgar?

Also, i want to list some reasons i like Lostgar:

1. Less Gyarados
- I may be wrong here but Gyarados (generally) hasno back-up plan so having Magikarp lostzoned (or the threat thereof) is likely to lead to a reduction in play. Bang goes my worst match-up :D

2. I can use Machamp Prime!
- In my Vilegar match-up i can donk with Machamp SF but then it's all about Donphan as the weakness is too much to bear. Not any more! With no standard damage-doing attacks i can use Machamp Prime which, when belted, can knock out Gengar Prime pretty easily :D (i know about the Gengar SF tech but that can be played around and i don't think it should be put into Lostgar)

3. More dark decks / techs
- Losts of people are going to want to play dark techs or even dark decks just to beat lostgar. What do all these have in common? weakness to fighting :D

A lot of people have been posting on the gym that Machamp is not a good play with now. Ha! I like my chances at states :D

Before I get to your DonChamp vs. LostGar analysis, how are you beating VileGar and Gyarados?! I played VileGar against my friend's DonChamp deck and had a terrible start to his 1st turn Donphan and I still came out on top. I haven't tested the matchup extensively, but I still don't see how DonChamp gets around weakness, trainer lock, and the occasional 'heads' with Fainting Spell.

And as far as Gyarados goes... you'll only win that matchup if you get a fluke donk (not too hard against Gyarados sometimes though). Also, in all of my testing, I have never lost to LostGar with Gyarados. Even had a Magikarp sent to the Lost Zone one time, but 2HKO's and a more reliable power lock helped me win that game pretty easily. Not only that, Gyarados has multiple ways of getting Pokemon in the discard pile (Regice, Junk Arm), so LostGar can send Pokemon to the Lost Zone only by playing/recycling Seeker, which isn't always easy to get in hand with power lock going on.

Vilegar is suprisingly good for my deck. Just attack with Donphan and use a combination of Judge and Regirock to keep your hand free of trainers. Say you have an active Donphan and one trainer in hand, that's 10 damage! Fainting spell is a pain but uxie can help with that (both champ prime and Donphan can hit for 90-100, leaving it in uxie range) and Champ prime can get rid of rescue energy. The Vilegar player is left shadow-rooming uxies and Regirock (which should always have recover energy on it) which will not get 6 prizes. Oh and seeker gets rid of pokemon before they're shadow-roomed. I knew Vilegar would be my problem match so i got my lovely gf to playtest extensively. I have also found that Machamp tends to be faster. Also i play more supporters and less trainers. This isn't the full tactical summary but hopefully enough to show i'm onto something.

At one cities last month i faced two vilegar in best of 3s. I lost a single round (1/5) and that's only because they hit heads on 3 fainting spells and took a prize from one of my earthquakes. the vilegar player assumes they'll win, which also makes it easier.

As for Gyarados, this is a problem. The theory here is early disruption with Mesprit / Judge to get ahead on prizes while they wait to set up and then using fighting-tag / seeker as you're effectively both going for 2HKOs. This is a hard match though and i am not consistently winning. I have found a guy who plays gyarados and is GOOD so gonna start testing with him before states!

So what are the chances of Machamp / Donphan vs Lostgar?

TBH,this is a beast of a deck. your Opponet must beat u on prizes,Black you out or they lose the match on being lost zoned...I just call the deck LostWorld Or Yugioh XD don't Knock a deck that Breaks pokemon Rules, Remember Rock Lock??? It Punishes you for playing the game...This does the same, but punishes you for keeping/holding pokemon techs back in your hands...Over all this deck is really amazing. I Truly will run this over Sp any day.

in theory Lostgar is really awesome because you get at least 1 ohko each turn. however every dark deck, fast deck with dark tech (LC with waevile g or absol g), decks like yanmega or magnezone which run 4 judges will beat gengar easily.

well the first big tournament will be this weekend in europe. so we will see if lostgar is a T1 deck or just a deck which got hyped but wont win anything.

Vile gar is going to be your worst match not gyrados machamp should be 50/50 or better against gyrados.
