Patriarch you know i'm just trying to keep the rivalry alive. You know i'm just joking. Just make sure you bring your states deck to play me after the tourny or in case I have to drop because I donked it up in between rounds.

Oh my states deck will be there, and now it can actually beat Gengar without relying on the clock (you'll hear more about that in my report soon). :D

These last few posts are very interesting... if anyone knows about carlag, it'd be me. I was known for chugging 3 mountain dew amps adn taking caffeine pills to make it to these tournaments back in the day... since I had to work all night long and then pick up people, drive to said tournament, and then do my best, and finally drive home.

Oh, and all of Oklahoma is not complaining, so I feel it's unfair to group the whole state together and give us that label. Try working all night, driving 1000 miles, sleeping a whopping 4 hours, then playing in a tournament, driving a few hours, sleeping, and then the next day drive 700 miles and work an overnight shift immediately after arrival home...

That's carlag at its best... I think I went 2-3 or 2-4 at the Mid-atlantic regionals last year. What's 550 miles one way? Just my two cents...

thats what i call dedication to a the game playa. Keep on trucking. I should hit up more tourney's now to put my name out there and seein how so many ppl travel to play. I've been slackin off too much.

This got old a long time ago, has not anyone figured out that this solves or changes nothing? If no one has a clue yet, listen now: REGIONALS WILL NOT BE MOVED FOR WHICKER OR ANYONE ELSE IN OKLAHOMA. Good god, if you cried this much during a tournament, you'd be dq'ed for poor sportsmanship. This thread is really spam. I beg the mods to let it die! How long can one person cry about the same thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please let it end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree do not bash the whole state of oklahoma b/c 1st oklahoma does have quite a few good players and you can not judge the ones who have said nothing because of a said few and carlag is quite bad considering I had to drive to worlds in San Diego last year.

dont let this thread die unless flamin starts up. Let whicker bicker or what he says debate. This is america dont you know. WE are all entitled to express our unhappiness and distress with anything. thats the gift of being in america. It is tru houston may not be the ideal venue to represent the southern plains. But the fact of the matter is it is for this yr and maybe for years to come. So lets leave it at that. Whicker and everyone who are displeased with the venue aren't here I believe to cry until the location changes. They kno that would be wishful thinking. All they are doin is expressin their opinion that for next yr and on. The choice of where the next regionals is should take account all players that are supposedly suppose to be represented in the southern plains regionals. That way the best location can be chosen that truly represents southern plains regionals.

Yes, but he's just embrassing himself. This is really sad, to have a thread for 8 pages on why the OK players don't like having Reg in Houston. IT DOESN'T MATTER, REGIONALS WILL NOT BE MOVED. I already said that I agree and understand, but enough is enough. His peace has been said, PUI will hold Regionals wherever they feel is the best place to have them. And it's not because Mike Cook is so great, or Houston has great #'s, it's a combination of many things. And BTW, the OK players are STILL closer to their home Regionals than I am to mine! I'd spend that energy finding a ride.

Rocketman:
Embarrassing myself? Stop being stupid. I'm winning the debate. The ones who are still against me are the ones embarrassing themselves. Also, do realize that I'm not stupid- as it seems I'm probably more intelligent than you are, Rocketman- I realize that Regionals will not be moved this year. THAT ISN'T MY POINT.
I've already addressed the you saying anything about how far away your Regionals are doesn't matter. If you don't want to debate your location, then don't. But I choose to. You CANNOT convince me otherwise by talking about your problems.

BROCKS TWIN:
Do not make me attack you on accounts of the quality of players in Oklahoma. I'm hoping you didn't mean it. I know you're a pretty cool guy and all.

Matt:
STOP BEING OBSESSED WITH LEGATO. COME ON MAN.

I know, thank you. Too bad that isn't my point. My point was to INFLUENCE the decision on next year's Regional location. And I'm pretty sure that with all attention that this thread is getting, it WILL make a difference.

it would be hilarious if next years regional is in brownsville

Sure, sure, that would be so amazingly funny. I cannot fathom how long I will have to suffer with my own drawn out laughter. It won't be in Brownsville next year, period.

Wow, I just responded to a pointless post. You are losing your touch there Whicker, just losing it.

You know, I hope it does. But I doubt it.
Brownsville's nice I hear.

Whicker, stop giving into the flaming, because that's what this is clearly turning into. Likewise, Rocketman should really stop with the namecalling in a debate of apples and oranges. I think that rather than lock the topic, all of the posts after coolmanderz should be deleted. This IS a worthy topic and certainly it's worth discussing.

meh, NASA is cool and all... but that doesn't change the fact that this regionals SHOULDN'T BE IN HOUSTON!!!!
Arlington has been fine for the past two years... why not now?
hey how about you shut up whicker, say what captain ranting?!?!?! like rocketman said our 'home' regionals is further away than yours, you don't hear the MS/LA players griping so it will be moved next year or whenever or to whereever. btw whicker i hear you are pretty good (not really) so i can't wait to kick the living daylights out of you if you show up and are unlucky enough (or survive long enough) to play me,bcuz you whine like a lil girl and what do lil girls that whine get? a good ole spanking,so have a nice day pretty lady. :)

Brent's got a point.
You say it's a "worthy topic" but when I added that my group wasn't happy about their regionals location, you said you didn't care. It is all about the whicker. So good luck with that boys.

Regionals locations are one of the toughest calls a PTO has to make...period.

You go to where you think the player base will best support the decision.

1st year - 2004 - when there were three stadiums, it was a no-brainer, I chose the location, given the strong Texas attendance figures, and found the ideal location in Arlington...

It was a great event - William Hung showed up during the height of his fame, and we put on one heck of a show.

2nd year - 2005 - 13 Regionals this time - the majority of the MS Valley player base was stationed in Memphis, which happened to be the CENTER of the Region....all engines pointed to making the event there, and it was a success -

3rd year - 2006 - St. Louis, being my hometown, and having their attendance rising at all their events (topped off by a 90 at States), coupled with analyzing last year's regionals - not a lot of attendees from Memphis - but a lot of travelers, coupled with the fact that there are 3 other PTOs in the Region - Rick, Mike and Clay, that will most likely get a shot to host a Regional next year - this could be the last hurrah for St. Louis - and this city deserves a Regional. Given early attendance numbers at events (Cities and States), I am confident I made a good choice for 2006.

Thing is, I could have moved the event to Kansas City or Northeast Missouri, and if there was not the North Carolina event conflict date, I am confident I would see the Schells in the house - they are like us and travel insane distances for Pokemon events for the love of the game.

How many PTOs have moved their regionals around?

My last post and thoughts....just an insight once again.

Vince

I have a comedy CD in my truck with a track titled "Its all about ME!". Well, Whicker, you have proven to everybody that this Regional location choice and your displeasure with it is truly "all about you!". You dont care that others have greater distances to travel to their OWN home regionals (read My league, Rocketman's league, The Schell's league) as long as you get the last word, and by god, you ARE winning this debate bc the regional location has been moved back to Arlington this year....Oh, sorry, its still in HOUSTON. What would really be funny, is that Team Cook and Houston has "astro"nomical (pun intended) numbers in Houston and POP/PUI insists that regionals 2007 be held there again. Again, POP/PUI is a business and it will be hard to deny the numbers and ALL the hard work Mike Cook and his family put into hosting these GREAT events. When was the last time you thanked Cook for running an event?? He does great work and gets little to no thanks from the Oklahoma crew.
