Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Official PTCGO Bug Thread (Updated 3/7)

Is it just me, or is the "randomization" of the decks weird?

Was playing my Team Plasma deck, and I had just added a 1-1-1 line of Magnezone.
Somehow on the very first game I played with the new version all 3 of those cards were in my opening hand.
I played another game right after that and 2 of them were in the opening hand...

Plus I was doing the deck unlock thing for Plasma Blade theme deck.
It just kept giving me Pokemon after Pokemon, with no energy in sight.

They said something about updating the trainer challenge.
I noticed there was a "City Tournament" league now.
I tried playing some of those decks, and boy they were tough.
Of course they are still very old decks with mostly HeartGold stuff.
Though a few still have Diamond/Platinum cards as well.

I have and always will have an issue with the "randomization" that the PTCGO has. Its almost "too" random? I can have 15 supporters in my deck and draw dry for 6 turns straight, or when I use a supporter ALA Juniper I will draw into a hand with no supporter, even tho 1/4 of my deck is supporters. Sometimes it works in my favor, but most times it seems that my opponents that I N end up drawing a supporter on the N or the very next turn, when it happens to me its game over. I could just have bad luck, but I have much better draws when playing my decks IRL than on the PTCGO, even with a full 3 minute pile shuffle/rifle shuffle.

I deleted all the PTCGO files and it worked.

---------------------

Dunno if this has happened to anyone else; Oppenent put Giant Cape on Zapdos and then an energy on Zapdos. I used Tool Scraper and went to click Zapdos and discard the Giant Cape and all it showed was the energy and it wouldn't let me click out just click OK.

Rightclick it, then you can discard it :)

Anyone knows whats up with lugia?

TCGO isnt working for me. I open it up and it says wait til your refresher it patched it will restart automatically when completed. 20 mins later, nothing. Im on a mac btw

Weird bug. I went to attach a Fire Energy and then couldn't do anything and lost due to timeout. The Energy never attached on my screen. I'm on a mac.

too random? there is no such thing as too random. Either the deck has been sufficiently randomized, or it hasn't. I do agree with you that I've always felt there was something fishy about the randomizer on PTCGO, both in game and with pack openings. The issue is that the randomization issue is not something that can easily be test by an outside source (like the players). I've decided that until some concrete evidence comes up that the randomizer does not function correcty, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. After all, they are the ones that know what they are doing, we are just the people with good/bad luck.

How's this for random...unless the guy built the deck this way.

Just played a game and it had no basic Pokemon in his hand at least 8 times in a row.

Plus when he finally did get one, it stayed in his hand...

I think I've found something, I've been able to recreate it but no one else has this issue:

If I am trying to bench something while I have multiple pokemon to bench in my hand, the game effectively locks itself when trying to place the first one on the bench. I did this once with a Squirtle in hand while having a Keldeo EX in hand as well, and I just managed to do it again with 2 Squirtles in my hand. It might be doing this after playing a supporter, but what I have written is all I know for certain.

EDIT: Just had another rather infuriating match. Zoroark BW doesn't discard energies when it copies Black Ballista from Black Kyurem EX PLS, and then I was given the boot for being idle too long when in fact it was my opponent. It actually gave me about 5 seconds on my turn, but I was making sure I knew what I wanted to do. After trying to click a card, I was given the message I was Idle too long.

Pokédex appears to be broken now. It won't let you click any of the cards to rearrange them.

Secret Rare Charizard has a water symbol instead of the fire symbol in the background (not the actual energy cost) and you can see the outline of Blastoise in the picture. Not sure if it counts as a glitch, but it is still kind of funny. First, the fighting symbol in real life, now this... I think they are just trying to mess up Charizard's type.

A lot of the cards seem to have graphics problems now. I had two FA Keldeo EX in play. One was completely foil, and the other one was only foil on the bottom half. It looked very strange.

For the Pokédex, I found out that you have to drag the cards onto the numbers. It does work.

In the same vein as the Charizard/Blastoise image fusion, my shiny Blastoise from Plasma Storm seems fused with the shiny Random Receiver. You can see the receiver with Professor Juniper in the picture, and a Pokeball symbol instead of the water symbol. I can also confirm Vablake's claim of the shiny Charizard being fused with Blastoise.

The shiny Random Receiver, albeit not looking like it has been fused with Charizard or Blastoise, has a problem of Pokeballs showing up all over the image, as if it was a reverse holo card. This same problem can be found on all of the ACE Specs and Team Plasma cards as well.

The vast majority of promo cards that I own get the reverse holo treatment as well, EX(Reshiram, Zekrom, Keldeo, Kyurem) or not(Victini, Meloetta, Riolu, Emboar/Serperior/Samurott). The only exceptions are Darkrai EX, Rayquaza EX, Mewtwo EX, and Luxio.

...aaaaaand right as I'm done editing this, I get a message saying servers are down for maintenance for about 30 minutes.

Yeah.... they are quick readers

Not sure if it's a bug, but it really should not take over an hour just to download the latest version of the game.

I tried running the game and it just sits there on the refresher thing, and nothing happens.

This is at the library, which I am pretty sure has like T1 connections (or something really darn fast).
Cause something that's like 3 gb downloads in like 1 minute tops.

Yet this game was taking over 2 hours to download?
Seriously they need a better server or something (max speed was like 26 k a second).

Either that or just bring out a disc version...

Were you on a library computer, or your own laptop with wifi? Speaking as a guy who does tech support for libraries, just because we have a T1 does not mean that's the speed you're going to get it. We throttle it to ensure everyone will be able to do the basics. Also, if you were on a library computer, the local group policy is probably preventing the changes.

Keldeo EX promo bug?

Since the most recent update my Blastoise Keldeo ex deck sits in the awaiting game state for a very long time without getting paired. It happens in both Expert and Novice mode and if I change to a non keldeo deck I can get a game in a few minutes at maximum.

Before the latest change my deck worked fine.
Now it is not.

The difference is that Promo Keldeo ex is in the mix.
I removed it from the deck and it is still not working.

Has anyone else had a problem with this and the new Keldeo EX?

The foil patterns from Plasma storm secret rares are messed up.
Some Dragons exalted reverse holos don't have energy symbols(they just have the white smog)
Some Regular Holos from call of legends are not foil.
All holo energy cards are not holo anymore.

That's about all I have found until now.
Also I was disappointed at the removal of the small number from the bottom of the card when you click on a trade...
Now I have to click on accept to see how many cards I have remaining, and then cancel...

It was the actual library computers (don't have a laptop).
Which is another reason they really need to have a tablet version of this game.
IE one compatible with Android/iPad/iPhone stuff.

I mean quite frankly both the laptop & desktop are not selling as much anymore.
I work at a huge electronics store, and I see multiple tablets being sold on a daily basis.
Plus there is a vending game that has an iPad in it that everybody tries to win (only to fail several times).
There was a Kindle & Samsung in there that was won...

Either that or do like those Yu-Gi-Oh games that came out every year, but for Pokemon.
If you limited the cards to whichever format is going, it wouldn't be that hard.
Plus you have Nintendo/Gamefreak/Creatures to help.

OK I guess going to the library when it's quiet helps.
I went earlier today, and downloaded the newest version of the game.
Took about 10 minutes tops.

Played a few games against random people (after redeeming several code cards).
It worked really smooth, and I kinda liked the new Pokedex thing.
Way easier than clicking on each card in sequence (sometimes the card got selected then became unselected in the old way).

Noticed that knocking out was happening rather quickly.
But that might be cause I set the settings to Great.

Not sure if it was just my odd luck, but a lot of players (in the Novice area) were playing that Basic Orange deck with the Catchers in it.

I did notice that the Dragon cards looked a bit different colored.
Kinda a green/grey/gold mix.
