Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pokemon Card Printer Bought Out

If it is a smaller company, they may not be able to produce as many at one time, therefore, raising the prices. Hopefully it is a bigger company so we can pay less.

Size of company has little bearing on the print industry. It's all about the size of the print run, number of colours and the type of print required. I wouldn't care though, it would be awsome to pull your deck straight off the press.

Will this take effect with Majestic Dawn or the next set? How far in advance are sets printed?

Yeah, I agree. That's pretty much what I was trying to say.

printers have NOTHING to do with errata: they print what they are supplied/what has been approved by the customer prior to production.

Yep, As I'm a Screen Printer. The Customer sends us artwork, with modification requests. After we get the file changed in what ever way they request, we send them a Proof of the final piece that must be signed before printing can be started. It's not uncommon to find mistakes before, during, and after Printing. Mistakes do happen, and it's no one persons fault.

Tour

During the tour we begged for an uncut sheet from Curran's World Championship deck.

They were really nice and would have given it to us, however POP apparently told them beforehand not to.

They had Curran sign one, and I think they got it framed. The first one Curran actually messed up and it was literally thrown away. What a waste...

PBM Graphics was amazing though.

'Pop, that's not going to stop Mr. Cook.

He will point out that he allows the PUI decisions still to be made out of Seattle as well!

Then he will mumble about all HQs being in Houston!!

Considering they put his name on and marketed an additional SKU without compensating him for it, inviting him to press check is a nice thing to do. The only way printing might directly negatively impact the retail price of cards is if the manufacturer was no longer able to provide the customer (Pokemon) with the same printing prices, and Pokemon was unable to find another printer able to match the previous number. Even though printers aren't responsible for content (errata), I've had printers accidentally delete or modify elements of design plenty of times, so they can [and do] make mistakes!

I wonder if this will have any effect on the 5th series on the Diamond and Pearl series that will hopefully come out in May.

i don't see why it should. all that is happening here is that the printing company has been sold to a new owner. production is not necessarily being moved elsewhere to a different plant...

Oh, I am SO jealous of Curran.

If you're jealous now, just wait til he's elected president.

I already pledged him my vote (if I'm around when he's 35). Anyone who gets the heads roll at a critical juncture in his finals game, then says, "Wait, I was supposed to roll that with the official dice." and re-rolls, has some seriously unconscious integrity. Long may it live.
