Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pokemon TCG Online multiplayer build delayed until 8/22

What should they do in your opinion?
Release something broken or repair it and release it a little bit later... i think it is clear what to do.
Don't forget it's not the whole Pokemon Company working on this. It a little team of people putting a lot of effort in their work. So would you still say they don't care about destructive criticism as it is provided here?
They even give us updates how far they are, they tell us what's the problem though they don't need to.
Please say again they don't care about what we think. They did say they're sorry for the problems and try to fix it. it happened and time can't be turned back. They do all they can so why say they don't do something against ist.
I don't think you understood what my post was directed at. It was directed at those who insulted and tried to push down the critisism in this thread. I pointed out that pokemon's done all they can with the feedback given today(such as removing the times), and I appreciate it, and my frustration was mostly lifted, because I knew they were taking feedback and listening to all of us. I don't blame them for anything in this current situation that they haven't already fixed, but they have made what I view as mistakes, and I would enjoy being able to voice that opinion without being insulted or called a child.

Addiotionally it doesn't hurt anyoneat all. What happens is that you wait some more days to play a game.
Write a story or draw a picture or play other video games instead and before you even think about it again it will be done. I would like to play the game too, but I know I will not die if I can't play it the next 24 hours.
Think about what's worth to complain about and what's not and you will live so much happier =D
I don't think anyone's claiming to be hurt by this, just disappointed. Of course it isn't going to cause me any bodily harm if it's not out right now, but I would still enjoy it being out right now, and I'm a bit sad that I don't get to play, as I'm currently waiting for the next set of tins to come out to afford many decks that I'd be able to play online due to old codes I've stockpiled.

I do see the point, that all this is entertainment, and waiting isn't that much of an issue, and I agree to an extent - but the timer was driving me insane with the constant checking back, so I gave my feedback there >_>;;

But since most of you won't read the entire post and if they do they will just call my points as invalid I have to accept that even in twenty years people will still complain about these 3 days the game was too late...
It would be a lot easier to read your posts if you did full line breaks, instead of just going down 1 line. I just quoted this(since I figured it was aimed at me mostly), and then spaced it to read it, but many might not take that time. Just some friendly advice =D

This entire back and forth is getting out of hand. Since I started reading this board a while back(I've always been kind of a lurker), I've felt that criticizing Pokemon in any way will bring hate, no matter how genuine and polite your criticism is, and this thread doesn't change my mind.

For those who argue that PTCGO is free, it is, in the same sense that most premier events are. Both are there to provide incentive to purchase packs. While they ARE free, imagine if BRs, the day before multiple started, got moved back. Then got moved back again. Would we still be whining children who can't get their way if we politely told how the disliked the situation, and went to a Pokemon forum to discuss our issues? To be fair, the penalty to players who wanted to attend a tournament is greater(travel prep, work arrangements), but I think anyone can understand the point there.

I understand that those that are defending PTCGO here just really love Pokemon, and I do as well. However, shooting every valid criticism down doesn't help anyone. Is anyone at Pokemon going to have its feelings hurt over some players being disappointed? No, obviously not. However, knowing what a large part of the community thinks of their actions provides great feedback. Getting offended because a group of people is disappointed in something you like doesn't justify hurling insults, inferring we're unintelligent , and wanting us to stop criticizing Pokemon. As far as I've seen, we're not demanding it be released now, we're voicing how we don't like how it's been handled, and how long it's taken. Can anything be done about that? As far as taking too long, not at this moment, as I'm sure they're working as hard as they can, but how they've handled it has already changed for the better, no longer pushing the time back hours at a time repeatedly as they missed goals. I appreciate these changes, as others here did.

As far as the free argument goes, that isn't how free works. If anything 'free' is attached to a paid product, it isn't free, it's marketing/a sale. Buy 1 get 1 free isn't free either, it's a 50% markdown as long as your purchase a set amount of product. If someone wanted to play online, but had no reason to play paper, those codes would be 4 bucks(possibly less at a LGS), with 'free' cards. The codes aren't free, they're no-cost-added marketing. I've most certainly bought more packs in the past week, gearing up for this release, because of the code cards, so it's obviously working, and a great strategy. I'd be willing to call it a 'mostly free incentive' but it's certainly not free.

TLDR: It will be up when it's up, but trying to dismiss criticism that a large group has and insulting them along the way isn't helping anyone, especially not those who're working on the game, as feedback is valuable. We're all here because we enjoy PTCGO, and want it to succeed, arguing over who is/isn't right about if a criticism is valid gets us nowhere, as any criticism is valid unless it's flat out wrong(ex: I dislike PTCGO because I ate cheese that was out of date). Also, free isn't much of a flexible term in reality.
Great post, totally agree.

Great post. I particularly agree like your explanation of the "free" argument, couldn't agree more.

@beldr: to be honest I only meant you at the point with your example. I agreed with a lot of your points and appreciated to read some constructive criticism.
However some people in this thread really acted like the PTCGO staff wanted to hurt them. Things as "the whole history of PTCGO was a great disappointment" were said which doesn't help anyone.
I just wanted to point out that the people who say things like this without giving any viable arguments should rethink if complaining is the right way ^^
And thanks for the constructive criticism about my posts, i really appreciated it and will try to right easier readable posts in the future XD
(It's just hard to remember doing this while you write ^^)

I will really be glad when it does come back up because I am wanting to do some testing for the upcoming BRs!!
I just hope that there is an easy way to build our own decks with cards we actually own, similiar to how Playtcg.me does..
Does anyone know for sure how this aspect of the program will work going forward???

You open virtual packs using code cards and that becomes your collection. There's no relation between the cards you own in real life and the virtual cards.

Really?? I thought I read somewhere that M. Liesik stated we would have access to custom deck builder... Man that's a bummer. That makes me believe then that the new version of the game is not going to be as good as I was hoping for...

The market as a whole is changing, just look at MMO's. Many of them are no longer subscription models. The majority of games now are 'free' to play with players paying for additional content if they want. The model has a much broader appeal because it attracts not only the hard core gamers but also casual gamers.

I played pokemon with my little brothers when base/jungle/fossile came out, then stopped. Recently I got some 'lots' off ebay for my son who likes pokemon. Now I am very excited about PTCGO. I would be even more excited if there was additional flexibility such as: paying directly for codes, having sanctioned PTCGO tournaments and events, allowing player sponsered PCTGO events, coding for a greater variety of formats instead of unlimited/modified (there are some good fan formats out there). One of the games I currently do play is called Urban Rivals and has these capabilities. The entire setup is amazing and obviously they are making money or it still wouldn't be up and running. Unfortunately, the complexities of all the pokemon attacks/abilities/trainers makes it a MUCH harder program to manage. When they get it right, I will be greatful.

So what can we do as consumers of a product? Voice our opinions and share our support and encouragement. I think the two (TCG and PTCGO) should be separate although there will be some spill over.

There will be a custom deck builder, but just like in real life, you'll need to have the cards to build decks with them. The codes that give you packs online are very easy to get cheaply if you want to straight up buy them, and local players in my area will often throw in a bunch to even out trades, so a lot of people who don't play will be willing to trade them away.

It will take more of an investment than unofficial online PTCG programs, but in the end it'll be worth it for the cleaner system and easy to use layout, along with the much larger userbase.

Multiplayer was promised to be ready "end of this summer", which will be in about 9 days.
So if they release it next week it's still "in time"" .

I never realized there would be no trading possible.

The end of Summer is officially September 22, so they can release it whenever they want to.

LOL this whole thing is ridiculous, half of us are complaining about the lack of quality results and the other half are complaining about people complaining.... All we can really do is hope and wait, The complaining isn't really going to bother the profs as most of them aren't on here and i don't believe our comments effect their quality of work. They will do what they can and get it done when they can no matter what we say. Its understandable why there is a split in opinion on the matter as any other topic would. Lets not assume our stance in the matter is better then anyone else's because opinions are your own, not what others should follow.

Seriously.. PTCGO staff really S.... Also his credibility. That staff can't make banners and advertisements with the 21/8 release date without havent finished the game what the hell were they doing on the last 3 months??

Meteorological summer ends aug 31.

Anyhow I am still looking forward to challenge a friend online, that's what I am waiting for since the day they announced/released the online game (March 2011)

The last time was 1 PDT (4 Eastern). I don't see a need to "check it" before then -- well, you can, but no point in posting asking for an update.
