Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Potential Poison Power?

I want to revisit this idea, as I learned Seviper is now in the Call of Legends set! I am not sure if it will be around for next format, but this format still could use some tricks.

@sToRm07:
Maybe your thinking of Mightyena PT. Also I disagree with you. They both have 90HP, but Seviper is a basic pokemon. Seviper also does more damage with it's attacks. Sure Mightyena doesn't need energy to attack, but I think the fact that it needs to evolve makes it run a bit slower, if not as fast.

ya man my bad, LA is just stally lol.

I counter with this - it is so much easier to swarm with mightyena. When a Seviper goes, there goes your energy invested in it also. Also, the move that lets it poison itself is near worthless - in this format at least.

Mightydonk decks can get a T1 Mightyena quite easily - when BTS is maxed and even rare candy is used for increased T1.

Seviper needs at least a few turns to get proper energy, and by then, most decks have already outsped
you - in this format at least.

The issue of the high retreat seals the deal for moe personally, but maybe it will be able to be comboed with Dodrio later on for a free retreat!

Setting your Seviper back up will be a nightmare -it commonly gets 1HKO'ed by tons of things too. :/

Cool card, maybe more useful next format. imo

Skuntank poisons both active Pokemon

And then Seviper rids itself of the condition while doing 60 extra damage.

In a word? Muk UD. Stage 1 w/100 HP, for {P} can drag out a Pokemon and Confuse + Poison, then for {P}{C}{C} can deal 30 + 50 additional.

This format is also full of DialgaG LvX if I recall correctly. I do see how the energyless would have it's advantages though. The seviper combo does leave a lot of room in the deck, so why not have both in?

Let's see what list I can make from the top of my head.
MightyViper:

4 Seviper CL
4 SkuntankG
3-3 Mightyena PL (maybe one LA for stall, discuss later)
2 ToxicroakG (one could be a promocroak, i mean it'd be very useful)
3 Sableye (Unfortunetly, this format does call for fast set up, that only this guy and uxie could bring)
2 Uxie LA
(19)

3 Pokemon Collector
3 Professor Araragi (discard hand, draw 7, supporter)
4 Snowpoint Temple
3 Expert Belts
2 E-gains
2 Sp Radar
1 Luxury Ball
2 Pokemon Communication
2 Bebe's Search
(22)

19 energy? nope.
ok i did the best that i could remember. anyone think this is a good start?

Yeah, this is a fairly decent start. Though I'd have to say take out a Skuntank G, two "energy" and then put in some Honchkrow G to help get a set-up by searching out your stadiums and some Team Galactic's Inventions. Adding onto the list, there could be something like:

4 Seviper CL
3 SkuntankG
3-3 Mightyena PL
2 Toxicroak G
3 Sableye
2 Uxie LA
3 Honchkrow G
(23)

3 Pokemon Collector
3 Professor Araragi (discard hand, draw 7, supporter)
4 Snowpoint Temple
3 Expert Belts
2 E-gains
2 Poketurn (Save a Skuntank G or a Honchkrow G from being dragged up into the active/getting sniped on the bench)
3 Sp Radar
1 Luxury Ball
2 Pokemon Communication
2 Bebe's Search
1 Palmer's Contribution
2 Seeker (lets you reuse those damage Mightyenas)
1 Aaron's Collection (Help's get some energy back after a Seviper get's K.O.d)
(29)

6 Psychic Energy
2 SP Energy (In case you absolutely need to attack with Honchkrow or something)

Or at least, that's how I see it.

Sablelock always has a hand of:
1 Sableye
1 Special Dark
3 Crobats (Required to donk 80 HP Pokes)
3 other cards

...yeah, doubtful.

With new BW rules, that will be very easy to pull off.

@wulfboy: this helped thanks! I'll be sure to test this deck idea out a couple of times and report it's speed.

Hoiiga – Psychic – HP90
Stage 1 – Evolves from Fushide

[P] Venom Shock: 10 damage. If the opponent’s Active Pokemon is Poisoned, this attack does an additional 60 damage.
[C][C][C] Hard Roller: 40 damage. This attack’s damage isn’t affected by Resistance.

Weakness: Psychic (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 3

Massive retreat, doesn't remove the Poisoned condition from itself; are you going to run Full Heal or something? :x

They nerfed the Scolipede line :( We're not getting that copy of Whirlipede (aka Hoiiga). According to the thread on the front page of the Gym, this is in our B/W set list (condensed of course):

Setlist

...

52. Venipede
53. Whirlipede
54. Scolipede

We only get one version of Whirlipede, and it's confirmed to be this one: http://pokegym.net/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=51719

Though we will (probably) eventually get the other copy of Whirlipede, it will probably be when Skuntank is no longer around.
