Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

PSP or 3DS?

Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor Overclocked is another good one. It's a little off the beaten path, but if you like strategy RPGs it's great. Plus, it gets props for the longest named 3DS game so far. XD

Best Buy will be selling the 25th anniversary Zelda 3DS for $180 and comes with OoT3D. (On pre-order now) I think there's a Mario one too, but it doesn't have the Zelda 3DS.

@AyameHikaru
How is it, I haven't gotten around to playing it.

Is that just for Black Friday? Or will it be permanent or for a limited time?

PSP brah!!! don't go with the new ones, get an older model 2000 is my fav. 3DS is just getting alot of game remakes but in 3d instead, no big deal. i've got both and i use my PSP alot more. i watch movies, listen to music and the games are super cheap since no one is paying much attention to it, and it has the best versions of one of the best games ever!! Monster Hunter, part one, two, 2.5ish, and portable 3 is coming soon. tri on the wii is aight, and though the 3ds is getting one i doubt it'll be as fluid in controls as the psp.

---------- Post added 11/20/2011 at 11:54 PM ----------

no one's even giving the psp a chance and as far as the vista goes it'll be just a big a fail as the PSPgo was. but don't let those two sour you on a very sturdy system with a great selection of games that cover many many genre's

take this from a 25 year old "kid" who has/had almost every handheld

the nintendo 3DS is in my opinion, so much better than the psp. the game selection is greater, some believe the 3D to be a gimmick but i rather enjoy it. nintendo is recreating classics and the best is yet to come for it. and imagine future pokemon games on the 3DS. the power is there, the system feels natural to hold, and the style/ design is so incredible. i love it. great care was thought of for this system

psp has had its run, and its game selection is kind of lacking now at this point. if you can wait it out however, the vita is going to be a BEAST. its raw power is incredible and the starting lineup....wow!!! and it will certainly give the 3DS a run for its money.

it all comes down to what games you would like to play. in my opinion again, the 3DS will have a greater selection

The PSP is what? 8 years older than the 3ds? of course everyone prefers the new toy, but the psp has never let me down and has a far greater selection of games that you'll keep playing not just buy, beat, and never pick up again. the 3d is cool, and i always have it on ( because i feel if i don't it means i paid extra money for no reason)

recreating classics? sounds like a fancy way of saying (suckering you into paying 40 bucks for a game you already have/played)

Future pokemon games will be on the 3ds, and this along with animal crossing are the only reasons i bought it.
It feels natural to hold because you've been holding a GBA SP. DS, DSlite, DSi, DSiXL before it. no wonder it feels natural, you've been holding it for awhile already....
Design came from all the systems i just listed, great care? anyone else get the little lines on their screen? or have to look down at the start button to push it, and where have i seen that home button before? pssstt... it's on your 10 year old psp, that still works. What feels more natural than a playstation controller in your hand is what i say to you good sir.

"PSP had it's run"......(skip a few lines)......"it will certainly give the 3DS a run for it's money" need i/you say more?

PSP has it's share of forgettables, but as far as I know, the 3DS has two solid(remade) games, and 6+ forgettables in it's short existence.

I own both, and have owned alot of the handhelds, i'm only four years younger (therefore a younger "kid" xP haha ) but i can still see myself playing my 7 year old PSP years from now.

Here are a few reasons why the 3DS is superior as far as I'm concerned

Better selection of games, there are good games on the PSP (BBS anyone?), but these are few and far between, I only own like 4, and the only ones I really care about are BBS and P3P (a remake BTW)

3DS has a longer life span. In terms of generation, and soon battery life, though admittedly that solution is about $100, but is 4x longer battery life

3DS is getting a good selection of games on the way. Including Monster Hunter 3G and KH DDD. BTW the 3D remakes are actually rather few, and they are still worth getting IMO since they give a different approach such as OoT's new gyro aiming.

Don't get me wrong the PSP is cool, but it just doesn't compare to the 3DS, the Vita might, but not the PSP.

monster hunter on the PSP will still be better than the 3DS imo, and you must be limiting yourself to a certain genre if you only have four games for yours i have 20+ and download more very often. (yes, i download my games instead of buying them, it won't brick unless you absolutely don't know what you're doing) life span has more to do with how the individual takes care of it, if you throw your psp around and don't bother with it yeah it's going to not live as long as your 3DS you adore so much for some reason. the 3DS is on par with the psp if you ask me, which means that the PSP had it all right a decade ago, and with the first system, not four lame system upgrades later.
And I accidentally typed Vista didn't I? haha my bad

---------- Post added 11/21/2011 at 01:59 AM ----------

And if i wanted to just to prove a point i could buy a 2nd or 3rd battery for 30 bucks total and have just as much battery life as the 3DS.

I don't really limit myself (the only genera I stay away from is Party and FPS), and I'm not very interested in the games it has, they just lack the interest factor IMO. As for downloading that varies, If you mean exclusives, I'd like to know a few of them, or are they ports like Crash Bandicoot? Anyway what I meant by life span was that the 3DS will have longer support, and the PSP will soon die out to the Vita.

Also I pointed out the battery life because that's a general criticism of the 3DS and I was pointing out that there's a solution to it.

Crush, killzone Liberation,God of War: Chains Of Olympus,WipEout Pure,Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins,Downstream Panic,Gradius Collection, metal gear solid portable ops,Patapon, LocoRoco, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, Daxter; and from my personal collection Prinny, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Monster Hunter2, WTF, Popolocrois, Jeanne D' Arc to name a few. I copy pasted the ones not in my collection, but i have played some and to be honest i think one or two of them have been released on the PS3, because of how super sweet the game is. XD haha

I just pointed out a solution to my battery life also..... the 3000 models have a 6hr battery life, and if you get an aftermarket battery it's got 8-10 hr. life. It probably will suffer due to the vita but if you surround yourself with the right ppl, there's still a big base for the PSP. because PSP owners know their stuff, we don't just jump on the newest flop, which is what the 3DS is imo. They had to drop the price in order to salvage something and to meet their quota of suckering parents and game enthusiasts to buy their system, granted the UMD never took off and the PSP doesn't boast the sales of the 3DS but it's about quality not quantity right?

I wasn't trying to bash the library of the thing, but you're also comparing a new product to an old one so of course libraries aren't going to match up, and the original DS also compiles into the 3DS line up as well.

As for the early failings of the 3DS I personally chalk that up to the lack of games, because who really buys a console for hardware. They buy for game compatibility, and the 3DS did have a poor library for the first few months, a problem which is getting fixed quickly. BTW out of the PSP and the DS which one was the flop again?

Some good games sure

Ocarina of Time 3D
Super Mario 3D Land
Super Street Fighter IV 3D
Pokemon Rumble Blast
Cave Story 3D
Virtual Console games (ie Link's Awakening)

Games coming out
MGS3
KH DDD
Mariokart 7

to name a few

Thank you.

Have that already for PS3, didn't enjoy it.

Quick note: I can't get T rated games because my younger siblings watch me....

I'd like some more info on KH DDD. (Love KH games. :D)

And I've pretty much decided to get a 3DS because:

1. My siblings are getting it
2. I intend to get both eventually, and at this point this one is newer and more games and events will come out for it.
3. I have a DS lite already, and I already know a bit about this sort of system.

...that's a lot of quoted posts...

Well that being said, if you decided on 3DS, like I said at Target it's $145; the ad mentions it being a pre-Black Friday sale, so I'd consider going to get it now unless you want the Zelda bundle (which technically, fancy 3DS aside, you'd still come out a bit ahead buying the one at Target one and OoT on your own). But yeah, for the PSP, it should be dumped out soon since the Vita is coming next year, can probably score one real cheap if you wait.

The PSP was outsold simply becasue sony isn't a kid friendly brand as nintendo, how many kids did you see whining to get a PSP? And how many kids do you see running around with all the new nintendo product the week after it hits the market, nintendo outsells because it targets the younger, scream my head off till daddy buys me this market. I've just got sour grapes is all..... title of the thread should've been: Please reinforce my thoughts on getting a 3DS over a PSP. But whatevs, i'm over it as of, now. Just wait till black friday or christmas, they'll probably have some sick bundle with one good game and some other lame stuff you can get like 10 bucks worth of trade in value. Or!! I hear they're releasing a Zelda themed 3DS, my buddy's waiting on it so he can buy his .http://www.zeldauniverse.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/zelda_3ds-3-516x2901.jpg FOUND IT!

Yeah...Old habit from posting on another forum, lol.

I haven't looked into Zelda yet(Never played it, though it sounds interesting), but I'll try to pester Mom or Dad into looking it up for me. I don't have the money quite yet, so.....yeah.

armilo, youre clearly a fanboy, and because of it, its blinding you from actually looking at the systems from both sides. its VERY obvious that you like YOUR psp, but that wasnt what the OP was asking for was it?

and no, i dont cry to my mommy and daddy begging for the new nintendo product. i go out and buy it myself because i know QUALITY product when i see it.

oh, and nintendo releases bundles because they know collectors like to go out and purchase them. not because of weak sales or anything of the like. they have the money and market to do it. whereas sony...not so much.

your "outsold" theory is also incorrect. look at the xbox. it wasnt geared towards children but yet, sold millions. where are your facts about that. if your theory was correct, the wii shouldve outsold the xbox easily, but it didnt.

A few words. Find which games you like better. See which system has them. Choose. Profit.

I like my 3DS and PSP. Funny thing is though, my 3DS I've played for about 100 hours accumulative so far, my PSP, 450. Though all the PSP's time is on Monster Hunter Unite/P3rd. My 3DS has a ton of games, but they all end too quickly. Right now. Come a few months there will be a lot more games on the 3DS which will make the system worth having again.

So yeah, find which one has the games you like, and get it. Simple.

The Wii did outsell the Xbox360 by something on the order of 45mil units as of 30 Sept 2011. The wii has sold almost as many units worldwide than the PS3 and Xbox360 combined. Impressive on Nintendo's part.

I have a PSP and have had one forever. I also have a 3DS. I agree with the previous poster that said to wait for the Vita or get a cheap PSP 3001. The Target sale on the 3DS for 145$ is boss. Hit that up if you can.
