ReshiBoar Sucks

I'm building a reshiboar deck for one of my friends. He doesn't want to put ninetails in it because he collects ninetails cards and won't take them out of his binder. The deck works great once it's set up; the only problem is that it seems kinda hard to get emboar out. The deck has 3 candy, a 2-2-2 line, 4 communication, 2 elm's, and 3 collector, yet he still can't get the emboar out by T3 consistently. Am I building his deck wrong, or is he just really unlucky?

do you run Cleffas? I also use 3 Professor Juniper, and 3 PONT also. don't skimp on draw power my friend. check out my article on 6 prizes, if you want to consider running it without Ninetales. I setup Emboar on T3-4 cosistantly. It can be done you know. If I can do it, then so can you.

It's worked in the past (LBS, Metanite).

It's funny because the past deck that Electric BBQ reminds me of the most is is Metanite. Energy acceleration, an attacker that adds consistency, the ablity to add OHKO techs, and alternate evolution forms that are useful (150 damage emboar / metagross ex). The fact that Electric BBQ has synergy with some of the best trainers and supporters even is somewhat like Metanite's being able to abuse the Holon Engine.

Even when he starts with cleffa he still doesn't get it out fast. Should I bump up the line to 3-2-3, or should I just tell him to improve his topdecking skills? He also doesn't pile shuffle between rounds, which is why I think he is unlucky--his cards probably get clumped together.

He should pile shuffle at the beginning of every game. after the game, a couple of shuffles is ok. If he's really worried, then he can separate everything ( Pokemon, t/s/s, energy) then mix the Pokemon with the energy, then mix that pile into the t/s/s. That's what I do.

^ umm ... Samurott and a lot of other water pokemon disagree with that. Magnezone, Embor 19, and a few other are waiting for their turn next.

Seriously.

I am using a good list from 1750+ players I know. I am testing against UG Zekrom decklists, my SD, and another 1750+ collaboration Donchamp list, and it has done next to nothing in testing,

Am I just playing it wrong or what?
just use typholosion and then the light bulb will go on

Yeah, Reshiboar is horrible in this format. So is magneboar, losees to elekid snipe.

How does reversals hurt Donchamp? Fighting Tag?

By not allowing that Machamp to get set up. If that happens, you just have a bunch of Donphan Prime running around dishing out a whopping 90 damage and losing most of the prize wars. Donphan needs that Machamp to be good enough lat game.

Donphan won't really have time to attach 2 more energies. They have to go into scoop phase.
