Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Rising Rivals Prerelease Events in Virginia!

(Hey, I'm back in black!!!)
Everything arrived today. Just imagine totoro's house with packing boxes, lovely styrofoam peanuts clinging to everything, and sealed boxes stacked up neatly next to the theme decks, sleeves, and promos. Mrs. T. just loves this part of being the wife of a PTO!!
It's all here kiddies, the rivals are ready to rumble!!

Ack! Excitement! Gosh, I would never be able to be a PTO.

If I were at your house right now, I wouldn't ask if we could open any packs early, I'd ask you if we could build a fort

FIFTH!!!! Yeah, IF I go to any, it'll probably be Warrenton.....

Seventh. I want your Gallade 4s. <3 <3 <3 <3

I'll probably be at Warrenton, but I'm not sure because my community theater has tryouts on the same day.

Awww, all the cool people are going to Warrenton. :frown:

Wow. I just realized that question was for ME! (ahahahaa @ random looking acronym!)

 That was kind of the point.

Yes, I agree... :nonono:
How about actually posting which events you'll be attending in addition to your number-- then your numbers amount to something more than a big, pink, spiced ham??

You forgot the lack of capitalization.

Will there be a TDC for both flights at Fairfax?

and italics. Purple text is always written in emphasis, while text being truly emphasized has underscores starting and ending the emphasized text.

I always plan for it. We usually get about 8 in each flight doing TDC. Currently, no one has preregistered for it.

What is interesting is that flights 1 and 2 are filling equally fast. You can tell who likes to sleep in and who likes to wake up early on a Saturday.

Is it worth it to go to a prerelease? Would the trading experiences be good enough that I could trade for the cards I need for my BR's deck(s)? I've never been and I want to know if it's a wise choice before I drop 65 dollars or so for me and my brother to play and for gas.

Of course I'm not really unbiased here, but I think pres are a great idea if you plan on trading to get cards. While there is a bit of the gamble aspect in terms of getting tradable cards, there is always the possibility that you can pull better than if you just buy a box (since your event and post event packs will not come from the same box.)
Additionally, there are some players out there who will trade you something nice just for a sealed set of event sleeves, so even if your pulls aren't great, you can end up with some good stuff. My advice is bring all your older trade cards (esp "desired" cards that you don't use or have extras of) and trade your heart out once the main event is over.

the gas cost for you is $15?!

Well, there's a lot of opinions about whether or not it is worth going to prereleases. However, if you're planning on going to Fairfax, Midlothian, and Warrenton BRs, there is an additonal factor.
Fairfax BR is on the 23rd; Midlothian on the 24th; Warrenton on the 30th. RR is released May 20th.

So, if you buy cards on the internet, you will not get them in time for Fairfax and Midlothian unless you put them on UPS next/second day air, or something equivilant. The prereleases will be your best chance to get the most cards for a $25 value. You may get them in time for Warrenton, or you could buy them at a retail place on the 20th, you are gambling that the retail location will have them stocked on the 20th. Either way, you will have sacrificed play time with the cards. I don't know about you, but I find the unnatural selection of choosing powerful cards to proxy test from a list of cards to be worthless because you don't experience all the cards in the set, or only experience the cards you have deemed to be good, and therefore are using a weak foundation for your tests.

As you also have said, there is the trading potential. A lot of people show up for prereleases including people who don't come to league. That is a lot of people in one place, enabling you to find what you are looking for. Not to mention the next flight. You could buy a box online and try trading at league, but you won't have all the people at league who were at the prereleases.

You also get card sleeves (while supplies last). I don't know about how well these trade, but you may be able to trade those for cards if you don't want them.

You also get to MEET up and play a fun game :thumb:

This decided it for me. I'll almost definitely be at the Warrenton prerelease.

Yeah, from our house into town to pick me up. (I'm housesitting.) 30 minutes then to the tournament 40 minutes and same for the return trip. :frown:

Just a reminder for players going to Warrenton (Hobbies, etc.) Please, please, please bring a folding chair so we don't have players who need to stand during their games. I'm bringing mine from 2.25 hours away, so everyone closer should, too!!!

slight change in my plans, I'll be at warrenton as well this weekend.

*cough, cough*
thanks to your AMAZING PTO!!

Looks like Mrs. T and Patrick will make the trip to Warrenton after all!! No, Johnny, that doesn't mean we lash you to the trunk! Megan won't be there; she'll be studying for her AP bio test (what a jerk THAT teacher must be!!)
