Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Rockford IL CC Jan 8! *Front Page Newpaper Articles and pics!*

UPDATE: Jason K. (Ness) with Ludicolo defeats Cory G. with Rock Lock in the finals!

OMG everybody!! I'm am so excited! Just to post a quick note here, we had an amazing turnout and I've got to say the most wonderful players in the entire Midwest were all gathered at our City Championships! Our final total number of players for my first official PTO event was a whopping 68!! We had 37 for 15+, 22 for 11-14 and 9 for 10-. The winners were as follows:
15+
1st - Jason K
2nd- Cory G
3rd Shayne S.
4th Matt E.

11-14
1st Jeff V.
2nd Nicholas P
3rd James F.
4th Quinn D

10-
1st James B
2nd Jason D
3rd Calvin S
4th Brad A

I think overall, considering we had about 20 more players than I thought we would, everything went pretty good! A late start due to the sheer volume of players and new players data to add in, and a bit of a snag with a TOM problem, I forgot a few things in the rush of it all, but for the most part I think it went great and everyone had a good time! We had great media coverage too, with 2 TV stations and the Rockford Register Star all doing interviews.

The side event winners were:
1st Dave C II
2nd Justin H
3rd James F
4th Dustin N

Also Bigginzzz won the top door prize of a free pass into our Legend Maker Prerelease!

And the winner of the SSBM tourney was:
Nathan S

I just want to say how very much I appreciate every one of you who came to participate and make my debut Premiere event a most memorable one! Hats off to all of you and hope to see you at our Prerelease on Feb 5th!

It was a great event. We certainly enjoyed ourselves. The kids loved the super-smash-bros side event. There players from all over Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa. Those were big numbers. I hope you host many other premier events.

Just as a side note, how'd the program react to my drop?

No problem with any drops. Everything else went fine with that other Swiss problem, once we got it figured out to proceed manually with the top cut, but I'll contact them about that.

Thanks Rob for the info, I'll get that posted right away!

Matt and I never really played off for 3rd and 4th, so let's just call it a tie.

I was running Typhlosion, Weezing, and Pidgeot to get to that spot in 15+.
Matt said he was running Nidoqueen, Pidgeot, and company to do the same.

It was an excellent event, Camille! It was so good to meet you as well!

Side note: The rule change was official for match play, the loser of the previous game gets to choose whether to go first or second AFTER they have already seen their hand and AFTER basics are alreay placed (before being revealed)

Is any body else having trouble getting to the rrstar site? I can't get any of the links to work. I can't even get to their home page through doing a search for them. I've checked all of my settings. I've tried on two different computers at different times on two different days.

I think the links just take a long time to load. It took so long for me, that I felt like closing them. Right before I went to close it, the stuff showed up.

That's the advantage of being in a smaller area-you can get a lot more coverage than you could hope for in a place like Chicago or even Milwaukee.

Dave obviously it's because of all the millions of people trying to access those very pages at the same time! I'm surprised it wasn't on national news! lol I haven't had any problem with the links, but I know today things were going slow. Anyway, I emailed you a link to the pic (at the site it said "email to a friend") so maybe that will work better? Oh and one of my TIY kids helps at the paper, so I asked him to save some copies for me, hopefully I'll have em on Saturday and send em to you. Nice pics of you guys! You vs Ness and Jared vs Shayne. And front page had Jared with his Pokemon Rocks shirt on (who'd he pay off to have so many pics in there??) Cool tho, huge article the day before with pics and huge articles the day after! Imagine the coverage I'll get us if we were to host Regionals! National news crews everywhere, helecopters flying in reporters from accross the country, broadcasting to Europe and Japan.......
