Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

SE WI FR/LG Prerelease NOW 8/28!

I'll try to make it if nothing comes up and my parents don't mind me using up all that gas (which I don't have to pay for). If nothing else it would make me more familiar with the cards and possibly increase my chances of doing better at the Mantiowac pre-release the following day.

There will probably be even more people at Brookfield then last time. We might even get over 30 people!

Just for the record, Brookfield's higest showing for a Pokemon tournament EVER was December 2002 at a Limited Sealed event. There were 36 people if I remember correctly. Will we break our record?

I still have that Blaziken ex to give away! If we break 50 players, a random participant will get the card.

In addition, as anyone who's been here for a tourney can tell you, there are always some 'extra prizes' such as older promos and/or jumbo cards. I even have some hard-to-get boxtoppers I'm considering giving away...

I'' definetly try to get down there. Sounds like a good time.

Again, please post your votes for a side event so I can make appropriate arrangements.

As of now, it sounds like we'll be doing a theme deck sealed event. If so, the cost would be $10, and the prizes would be from the EX series.

Side Event Suggestion: How about a Game Boy Ruby/Sapphire tournament?

If we could do the above, I wouldn't mind helping to organize it. I mean, if you could provide prizes, Jared, then I can get the rules (I know 'em all by heart), check people's teams to make sure they were not sharked, help register people's teams, etc. For the above tournament, you would have to use 3 lv. 50 Pokemon following Battle Tower rules (Pokemon not allowed: Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Ho-oh). I would suggest to have an entry fee of $5 for a Game Boy tournament with your choice for prize structure.

I can talk to you more at league, Jared.

I'd rather do a TCG event. Most of the people at league don't have teams that can compete like yours and mine can Hypnosis. Also, you guys with Pokemon Colosseum may have an advantage over those who don't. Maybe we can do one when FireRed and LeafGreen come out.

I think we should stick with the idea of doing a team sealed event. It would cost a little more, but it would be a lot of fun. That way people that don't play Pokemon R/S constantly can have fun too. :)

If we're doin a Team Sealed event, why not run it similar to the last one, where we paid 15 bux for the main tourney, then maybe another 5-10 per team to play in a 2nd tourney using our original cards from FR/LG?

I don't like the idea of Sealed for team play at all...

Firstly, its Hypnos, not Hypnosis.

Secondly, It COULD be a "side side event" or an extra side event for whomever wants to participate. I dunno... Just thought it might be an interesting idea. Game Boy battles for Prizes... it seems too fun to resist!

Lastly, most of us from Brookfield AND Chicago (which makes up almost all of our attendance) will be play the TCG all weekend. A Game Boy tourney could give them a break from the cards. I know I would like to play or run something of that sort.

I like the team idea, but i think we would have a problem with rulings, like lizard said before. not sure if nintendo has any team rulings about the new fr/lg cards, but im assuming they don't.

I love the pokemon gba games also. im waiting to see what lizard has to say, but i would kinda rather have some tcg side event. i think after the new games come out people will want to do it more, and we can set up something. cool idea though hypno

Good points and good ideas everyone!

I am geeting more into the GBA games myself lately, and I like them a lot. We have had a blast with them at league!

However, after considering it a long while I have decided it would probably be best to make the side event TCG only, so that everyone can participate. I would like to do a GBA tourney though!

I actually think Bullados's idea could work. In fact, I might even bust open six packs myself (after the main tourney) and team up with Calvin (since this would be unsanctioned).

The downside is that, if you get a bad set of packs for the main tourney, you will probably not do that well in the second one either...

Well then, how about having it as a second side event? I'll run it if you can get prizes. I know how to use the Nintendo Software and I know all the rules for GBA events. I don't mind not playing at all, really!

If there was another cost for the Team event, I don't think I will play. I don't have the money, and I usually pull total garbage in prerelease packs. Also, I wouldn't have a partner at all, and I really don't wanna team up with someone and have to split up the cards afterwards again, if you know what I mean. I might participate in something like this, but it is doubted.

We could always do a modified tournament after the prerelease, that would cut down on the cost. It is going to get a bit expensive to play in 2 sealed events.

Modified would be nice. However, if it is Modified, I hope it would be sanctioned. I wanna get my hands on one of those Holo Treecko promos. ;)

And also, if we did Modified as a side event, we could also run the GBA tourney as well because a GBA side event would only be something like an hour long (depending on how many enter). That is, if it is okay with you.

Determined to run a GBA tourney,

OK, I think I may have an idea that meets everyone's needs...

How about a SANCTIONED UNLIMITED tourney for $5?!

There would be prizes and Treecko promos...
