Speculation on the World Championships Promo Card ??

There is also one Stamped with "Staff" Anyone that helped out in the event was presented one of these as well as the Invitational binder. Not as rare as the top 16 on up...but still not alot of them went out...only 1 to each staff member. Personally....I'm hanging on to mine

"I think the WC promo card will be Tropical Winds."

In total, 14 different Tropical Wind Promos.

Also, top three in each age group recieved Number One, Two, or Three Player Promo Trainer with a Pikachu holding a trophy (Bronze, Silver, Gold). There was a Worlds logo on the far left corner. It is not a numbered Black Star Promo... as far as I can remember. It is not playable, mostly since the trainer's text has no actual relation to game play.

Unfortunatly, my camera was stolen, so I got nothing for all of these cards. The amount of theft that occured was sad... you would think that if it was placed in your locked hotel room, it would not go anywhere. That safe has a new purpose. =/

From memory, the text of the winners cards says something like:
If the bearer of this card earned it at the Pokemon TCG 2004 Worlds Championship, they are invited to play at the Pokemon TCG 2005 Worlds Championship.

As Prof Dav said, "You can put it in your deck, but why bother".

Phil: Sorry to hear about your camera. We had some change disappear from our room, but nothing like that!

Just in case you don't know what the card does here it is:L

Trainer
Tropical Wind
Flip a coin. If heads, remove two damage counters from each of your active pokemon (one if one of your pokemon only has one damage counter). If tails, both of your active pokemon is now asleep.

There's a camera in our Lost and Found. We've shipped everything back to the office, and I expect it will be there within a week or so. Shoot me an email with a description, and when it comes in, if it matches, I'll have it shipped back to you.

Theft was pretty sad. I had a bag locked in the prize area all weekend with two extra Game Boy SPs in it, and today, when we packed up, they were gone.

What Dave? Awake back then and talking to us? Well since you are up get me a sandwich. Yeah I lost my disneyworld posts cards I was going to send so I had to get new ones.

Lets get back on track here...

I have been predicting values for the promos and here is what I am expecting.

Already e-bay has an auction for tropical winds (standard) up to 10.50 per card. I think that will drop dramatically. While player sets will be super high, say like 20 bucks or more. Staffs will be even more high themselves say maybe 10 bucks or more. While final placing cards will be dramatically insane in prices. Like triple digits. As for No.# Trainer cards are going to be priceless because I doubt we will see one ever again.

Thanks Dave... hopefully it was mine.

I bunked with the Craig's in their two rooms and the kids started inviting people that we did not know. We walked back into the room on Friday night after working to find a huge mess. Next time, the room keys will only be in the hands of responsible adults. It's sad that it had to come to that. :(

Had a blast with you, your wife, Yasu, Jimmer, Derek, the other Dave, and anyone else I missed that hit the Jacuzzi on Sunday. The event rocked.

Why did they make the Promo card Tropical Wind? It doesn't make sense. Why not Metagross? I was hoping it would be Metagross but it wasn't. :( Now I'm sad. :(

Well it makes sense seing as how those in Florida had a "Tropical Wind" named Charley blow through a week before the Grinder. ;)

Also at worlds you know how much [japanese kids] were trading for the Tropical Wind set,a lot,you see with the promo's you got one each of 7 languages and 2 other promo backs.


[edit: After the other topic got deleted, I think it's pretty clear that certain abbrevations for certain nationalities are NOT allowed as they are slurs. Do not use it again. -Pop

and besides, tropical wind is brand new, and the first playable promo we've seen in a long time! *yes, it IS playable*
 
Of course its playable, I saw so many people griping about how bad and unusuable it was...and I'm like "Are you guys blind? It has lots of potential" but I didn't say anything to them...they shall learn soon enough...after all...the Japanese kids were going crazy over my extra non-stamped ones I got for staffing...and I'll bet its more than just for collecting since they were hoarding them. ^_~
 
I am very surprised the promo was not Metagross for any of the events I thought it was a certain. I am pleased with the Tropical Wind Promo.
