Since the NFL season is about to start, who do you think will make the playoffs? Who will win the Super Bowl?
NFC
division winners: Eagles, Vikings, Falcons, Seahawks
wild cards: Panthers, Giants
I am predicting a down season for the Cardinals, probably 8-8 or 9-7. Even though I am Cowboys fan, I am not optimistic about their chances because they lack depth when comparing to other teams in their divisions.

AFC
division winners: Steelers, Chargers, Patriots, Colts
wild cards: Ravens, Jets
Titans defense will slipped due to the departure of Haynesworth as teams no longer have to double team the Titans' defensive tackle, freeing their offensive linemen to block blitzes from linebackers and safety. It will be a close race between the Titans and Jets for last playoff spot.

SuperBowl: Steelers vs Eagles with Steelers repeating as champions.

To fantasy football players: Remember to put Steelers or Titans players into your Active Lineup before 8:30 PM EST today if you want their stats to count toward your weekly total.

I'm in shock that you only listed the Ravens as the wild card after their amazing performance last year.

Seriously, what will it take for them to get any respect? The Steelers are over rated. The only reason they did as well as they did last year, were due to some VERY biased calls.

I'll just be random here...

I'm going to call...

Ravens Vs Cardnials

Ravens win. :p Ya, I stand pretty much a 100% chance of being wrong, at least, for the Cardnials. ;)

NFC
division winners: Giants, Vikings, Saints, Cardnials
wild cards: Falcons, Panthers

AFC
division winners: Steelers, Chargers, Patriots, Titans
wild cards: Ravens, Colts

SuperBowl: Patriots vs Vikings with the Vikings winning their first Super Bowl.

the Texans are gonna step it up. I know I just opened myself up for much hating, but they'll make the post season this year!

NFC
Division Winners:Giants,Vikings,Falcons,Cardinals
Wild Card: Saints, Redskins

AFC

Division Winners: Titans, Steelers, Chargers, Patriots
Wild Card: Dolphins, Ravens

Super Bowl : Falcons vs Titans, Falcons win

I'm calling it this way...

NFC East: None of the teams really stand out. All have flaws in some manner. The Giants don't have any wideouts, but their running game is BEASTLY. The Romos have Tony Romo as their QB. The 'Skins have Snyder as their owner. Philly also has no wideouts, but a beastly run/short pass game. I'm gonna go with the Giants, as they're the least flawed team in the division.

NFC South: Carolina has long been a popular pick coming out, and they've always underperformed. Atlanta isn't going to sneak up on anybody this year like they did last year. New Orleanes doesn't have a defense. Tampa just has nothing. I'm probably going with the Saints to win the division just because of their insane offense. If they can "hold" teams to under 30 points, they'll win, simple as that.

NFC West: There's only one real team in this division. No doubt in my mind that the Cards win this division 9-7. The 49ers will be MUCH improved with Singletary as their coach (HOMER pick there).

NFC North: Three team race, and all 3 teams have some major flaw. The Vikings have Brett Favre as their QB. He's over the hill, well past his prime, and coming off an injury. And the Vikings absolutely LOVE the guy. They'll be passing FAR more than they should with AP on the roster, and that'll be their downfall. Not to mention the Williams defensive linemen will get their 4 game suspension at some point this year. When that happens, the Vikings will drop 4 straight. The Packers have a new defense, and their defense last year wasn't particularly great. Rodgers will be amazing, and they will score a crapton load of points. But so will their opponents. The Bears finally have an NFL-style offense to go with their top-tier NFL defense. Their secondary is a mess after Tillman's surgery and Bowman's injury, and they weren't exactly stellar against the pass last year. They do not have a true #1 wideout, but their TEs are second to none in the passing game, and they have a top-tier RB. I'm going to pick the Bears to win this division 11-5 on the divisional tiebreaker.

Wildcard: The Vikings will go 11-5, and that will be enough for a playoff spot. The East teams will beat on each other, guaranteeing at least 3 losses each. They also play the AFC West and the NFC South. I think that each team will get at least two losses from the NFC South or San Diego, and then some random loss tossed in between. Atlanta, while not flying under the radar anymore, is still pretty powerful with a solid 2nd year QB with the talent to become top 5, a top tier wideout, and a top tier RB. Their defense isn't terrible, and can be downright good in the right circumstances. Atlanta will be the second NFC wildcard.

AFC West: San Diego is clearly the class of this division. Denver dumped their QB, has a disgruntled WR, no true RB, and a terribad defense. Kansas City has never had a defense, traded their top offensive weapon, and fired their offensive coordinator. Oakland has Al Davis as their owner. San Diego rolls with at least 10 wins.

AFC North: Two team race here. Baltimore has the better defense by a touch, and Pitt has the better offense by a touch. Cleveland is Cleveland, and Cincy doesn't have a defense. Pitt has that storied franchise, and that carries weight with the refs. Both will make the playoffs, but Pitt should win the division.

AFC South: Even with the coaching change, Indy has always been very, very good. They'll get double digit wins once again. Tennessee lost the single greatest defensive lineman in the NFL today, and their offense is anemic. They remind me of the Bears last year in that respect. Houston has an amazing offense, but no real defense. Jacksonville will be interesting to watch, but won't win many games. Indy takes this division.

AFC East: Miami and Buffalo will be stories this year, as both will improve. The Jets will regress because they had no Favre backup plan. New England is always good, even when they're bad. They'll take this division fairly easily.

Wildcard: I said earlier that both Baltimore and Pitt will make the playoffs. Since the division is pretty much a tossup between the two teams, the one that doesn't win the division will win the wildcard spot. I think that Tennessee is just good enough to notch another playoff berth, but don't underestimate Houston in this spot either.

I'll worry about the playoffs later, but my SB prediction is Ravens over Bears.

I love the doubt that the Jets are getting. I have been saying this for a while, they are MUCH better than most people expect. I went to 2 of there Preseason games (1 Away, 1 Home) and I could tell that they had the ability to be special. I think that after they MANHANDLED the Texans, people are going to start believe that they are much better than people think. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't give NE a run for their money next week and maybe even beat them in NJ for the first time in a LONG time at home. :thumb:

NINERS! One step toward winning the NFC West today. Cards can't even beat them at home when they have a pathetic rushing day on the road. Very impressive! Who needs Ca$htree?

Ravens are 3-0, and showing a VERY good offense as well as their good old super solid defense. I think they're going to top Pitsburg this year.

If things keep up the way they've been going, I could definitely see the Ravens taking the superbowl this year.

The Bears are just SOOOO unimpressive in all three games. Cutler overthrows basically everybody, Hester can't run routes, Olsen can't hold the ball, the Oline can't runblock worth junk, and the defense is down now TWO MLBs!!!

I think I'm going to start sounding like a Cubs fan this early in the season. Luckily, we've got a cupcake (Detroit), and then a Bye, a good time to get healthy. The strategy against Detroit is simple. Stop Megatron, and you beat them.

Though, I think this is gonna be a TOUGH season...

I'm impressed with the Jets so far. Tough defense, one of the toughest I've seen in a long time (2005 Bears being the last truly dominant D, just ask Denny Green). They're gonna do something fun this year.

But the real question is, were they who you thought they were?

But but but... Denver has only allowed 16 points! They have the best defense in the NFL!

Denver's played two pasty offenses in Cleveland and Oakland. Cincy was still struggling to find itself.

The Jets have stopped very PROLIFIC offenses in New England and Houston, and Tennessee has a fantastic running game and a very consistent QB and short passing game. Allowing 33 points to those 3 teams is worth more than allowing 16 to Cleveland, Oakland, and Cincy.

they don't really have a super solid defense. They have given up many points/yards to everyone except the browns. Granted their offense is looking better and pittsburgh looks terrible I think they could take the division. They still have a long way to get to the super bowl and win it.

Apparently you didn't notice the . New England does NOT have a prolific offense yet. They should've lost to Buffalo. They had a prolific offense the last time Brady was healthy. He is not playing like he was in 2007.

Tennessee has been been bad lately. They started 10-0, then went 3-4 (including playoffs) and have started 0-3. So they've gone 3-7 in their last 10 games. They've also only averaged 20.9 PPG over their last 10. They really haven't been very good. Especially when you consider 47 of the 209 points came vs. the Lions.

The Texans do have a good offense. They are horribly inconsistent though. So really, the Jets have stopped one good offense this year. Lets see where they are in week 10. Lets see what happens after they play New Orleans this Sunday.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

This is funny. People look at two games, and assume that they're defense isn't very good anymore. Do you also think the Patriots have the 16th best offense in the league? Did you know in the 2000 season the Raven's defense (the one that set the record for fewest points allowed in a 16 game season) gave up over 400 yards twice. Besides, the defense's only bad game was vs. SD. They did NOT have a bad game vs. KC. They gave up 188 yards. 1 TD was on special teams, the other came after an INT was returned to the 6 yard line. Sometimes you have to go beyond the boxscore.

I never said the defense wasn't very good. All I said was they wern't as solid as they once were. So far the ravens have proved they can put up points. They need to prove they can get it done against good teams on defense. The only good team they faced was SD and they had a hard time. All I am saying is I'm not crowning them champs yet. If they can prove to have a good defense against some better teams. You're right though if you look at a very few amount of games people will assume things. Like the assumption that the defense is good when they have played 1 team that actually has won a game.

You completely missed the point. The Ravens have been the best defensive team in the NFL since 2000. They have a history of excelling on defense. Why should they have to "prove" that they're good defensively? And even in the San Diego game, the Ravens still won and they didn't give up a TD in San Diego's 4 red zone possessions. So basically, you're taking one game and saying the Ravens don't have a "super solid" defense, because of that one game. They had a few poor defensive games last year too. My point is, they've been very good defensively in 2/3 games this year and last year they had the #2 defense in the league. Plus most of the defensive starters are back.

I like the Jets defense more than the Ravens right now. I already know what your next statement will be from that. Also I don't care if they have had a good defense in the past (I know they have) it's all about the here and now. When they face better teams and prove themselves now, then I'll give them the credit they deserve. After 3 games (2 against teams without a win and 1 hasn't had an offensive TD for like a year now) you can't tell. You said most of the starters are back, while this is true they are getting older. Can they keep up what they have been doing for the past decade? Only time will tell.

Well, for once, the Ravens are being known for offense, which imo, will make their defense better, since they aren't going to have as much pressure on them as they used to.

If you live in New York, you may not know this, BUT, the Jets DIDN'T win the Super Bowl, Sanchez DIDN'T win MVP, and Rex DIDN'T win coach of the year. :D

I am impressed by Singletary and the job he has done with the 49ers, I feel that they have a good chance at winning the division. The Seahawks and Rams are bad, and we already beat the Cardinals in Arizona. We SHOULD be 3-0... but Mr. Favre had to go and be all magical on us[read my sig where I am expressing my irony on that].

AFC East: I think the Pats will actually pull it out in the end, mainly because, no matter what, Sanchez is a Rookie. I know, Flacco and Ryan did great as Rookies, but they won the Wild Card, as will Mr. Sanchez, so we can all hope we get the Jets v Pats AFC Championship. <3

Another thing, I would like to Welcome the Detroit Lions back to the NFL, and say so long to the Cleveland Browns, who, I believe, just lost to my High School Football Team.

Right. And the team who has only scored one offensive TD in their last nine games didn't score an TD's vs. the Ravens. Secondly this whole "the defense is a year older" argument has been repeated ad nauseam for years now. When will people realize that it isn't true? Terrell Suggs is 26, Haloti Ngata is 25. Ray Lewis and Ed Reed are the key players who are old. Age isn't everything. Peyton Manning is 33 now. So does that mean his level of play will drop way down? Here's a question. Have you actually watched the Ravens games this year? And as for the Jets defense vs. the Ravens defense, who knows who has the better defense, my point was the Jets have played against 1 offense that is playing well.
