I was feeling confident as I started my first match.
DP Turtwig was on the field alone.

"Take out, Knock out, Game."

What?????
That ruined my experience, stupid Machamp.
Take Out should be FF or FFC or something more fair than F.

People are starting to play T-tar again in my area with a sableye starter, I lost because they both T1'd me. I din't even get a turn.

Run more basics, duh.

When your deck of 17 pokemon (ALL of them are basics) has a tendency to only get 1 or 2 pokemon starts (NEVER had a start with more then two pokemon in play, IIRC, and had lone pokemon starts over half the time), I think that proves your solution doesn't work.
Admittedly, I got lucky and never played anyone with sole Machamp with that deck, so I can't say how donks treat it. *shrugs*

And Sableye + Lookers is not a good way to stop donks. I've tried it with Turn 1 Giratina Let Loose, and every time I've done that, the opponent's been able to find an Uxie, get the BTS, Baltoy, Claydol, etc. immediately afterwards. Ugh.

It's just complete idiocy to change your deck by adding moar basics or moar Unown G just because you want to survive that T1 crap. It completey ruins most strategies as you waste deckspaces you could use to increase your speed and what not. That and it's STILL not guarantees you will have Unown G in hand at the start of a game or that you will start with multiple pokes.

Now that the results of the survey have been posted, I have to say that the results shouldn't have surprised me, but they did. It seems like the percent of people who agree with the statement that donks have interfered with their enjoyment of Premier events is significantly higher than the percent number of people who have been donked more than once at a Premier Event. It seems the perception of the problem has outgrown the actual problem itself...

Are you serious!!!! According to the survey almost 25% of the people were donked 3 times or more
and 45% of people were donked twice or more...

Almost half the players were donked twice or more.

Before the very first D&P Set. I could count on one hand how many times i had been donked...i'm talking about the entire time i've been playing pokemon
in the last 3 seasons with infernape/lucario/kingdra/Machamp/and now galatics... i've been donked more than my entire time playing

As for all those people who don't mind being donked... JUST STAY AT YOUR LEAGUES IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT WINNING! Some of us actually are trying to get to worlds. If you don't care about winning, then please stop coming to tourneys. Thats besides the fact that I'm sure they wouldn't like it so much if they just drove several hours to play, and then had all their games last about 5min or less.

Sad to say, it seems less and less of my games have been those amazing epic matches where its neck and neck the whole time. You know, the kind of matches that are really fun, and what make the game worth playing. I used to get them all the time. Now its basicly, "oh shoot... I wen't 2nd to this n00b... I just lost...".

I want more of the epic Metanite vs Rgon type matches back. Those were some of the most fun games I've ever had. :(

But I don't mind being donked, and yet I care about getting to worlds.

Same with me. I just started playing during the DS erra and most of my losses were just because I didn't have very good decks, due to being a n00b and not having many cards. I don't think I got donked more than once before DP. Even last year wasn't that bad TBH. Ya, there were donks/near donks, but it was possible to come back for them and make one heck of an amazing battle out of it. Now, I have been donked by more n00bs than I ever care to think about, all because I start with some lame dead hand vs thier super awesome lucksacking t2 X donk card. >_>

There's no need to be so arrogant and elitist about it. I don't like being donked either, but I'd never tell people not to go to tourneys . . . they can be fun for many reasons besides trying to win/get ranking points. No-one has a 'right' to win anything. You have to earn that every time you sit down opposite another player.

I just hope you're joking, tbh. That would actually make some kind of sense.

I don't have a problem with people that like to play for fun. I have a problem when a guy who doesn't care if he goes x-0 or 0-x donks me because he thinks its fun to win t1.

WAHHHH!

I am getting really tired of people who are whiners about donks.

One of the tests of a good player is being able to adapt to the format.

Guess what? This is part of the format.

Don't tell me it wasn't intended...the cards are as clear as they could ever hope to be.

They allow it. You don't like it, then fine, you don't like the format...but guess what..

It is what it is.

They didn't want Machamp to go off turn 1...then make it a 2 energy attack.

This was intended.

You either need to realize it, wake up and accept the reality of the format, or find a way around it in your deck that does not cripple your strategy...

But to simply whine about it...enough is enough.

The worst part is, and I really hope I am wrong...someone may actually pay attention to the squeaky wheel here.

Man, I love not being a mod and being able to say what I really think.

Deal with it.

you aren't good enough to win all of your games, no matter what you think, no matter who you are playing.

Losses happen.

PMs encouraged, or we can play here.

^^ YOUR MY HERO! yeh, i think that kingdra rampardos and champ(champ the least) are cheap, but its part of the game. but donks are part of the game, now i'll level with whoevers whining if they lost 3+ games in a single tourny due to donks, but if they didn't, move on and try that much harder next game. ;)

^ I have lost 3 battles in a tourney due to donks. Trying harder does nothing if you lose before you can actually do anything...

Meganium, what can you do when you have all the tools against a donk in your deck (EG: Several Unown G, 4 Call Energy, a high amount of basics) yet you still lose turn 1? Is that still due to bad deckbuilding?

I love how donk fans usually don't get past "Deal with it" for their argument.

Having no oppurtunity to win on the first turn isn't exactly a great game Vince. If I come to Nats to get donked 5 or 6 times Ill be very sad indeed.
