The effect on US nationals from Canadian Nationals?

Who seriously thinks Yanmega/Kingdra will make a huge showing at nats? It seems like it has a terrible matchup vs. magneboar due to weakness, but i'm not trying to theorymon.

I hate ignorant people saying ZPS is a "bad deck," which is a matter of opinion. ZPS is similar to any other "Turn Two" style deck we've had in the past, which has a strong donk ability, opens fast and hits hard, but has an extremely weak middle and late game. That doesn't mean a player with a fast build who runs well cannot pilot that deck to win a state, regionals, or nationals, they just need to run good, avoid unfavorable matchups, and hope to squeak out an early win against the bad matchups they do face.

Kingdra certainly didn't have a weak mid to late game in 09

Well Kingdra was a bit different because there was a very low chance of being 1 shot and you could nurse it back to full health and just attach another water and keep on swinging.

One effect that Canadian Nationals seem to be having on the US meta game is a reconsideration of whether Cleffa is the best choice of a starter. It will be interesting to see if Cleffa drops in popularity as a result of the perception from Canadian Nats that it is too vulnerable.

I'd personally think people will also reconsider 3-1-3 lines due to their Jirachi weakness. I figure stuff like that will be the bigger influence from Canada on the US Nationals then anything.

Not really that terrible matchup. I would say 60/40,50/50 In magneboar's favor.
If Kingdra/Yanmega can KO the magnemites/magnetons fast enough or stall long and snipe around and then Time Hollows, then Magneboar is half dead. But you need to be lucky to do that.

Yanmega selling for $75 at US Nats. A lot of Yanmega variants being played. Looks like Canadian Nats has already had a big influence on the main event. Now let's wait and see what comes out on top!:thumb:

Goooo Zekrom! It would be worth just for the RAGE alone.

From what Im hearing, it seems as though the general lineup is very similar to Canada with Yanmega taking the lead paired with Zone, Phan, Kingdra or all kinds of rogue decks. Neither Magneboar nor DonChamp nor LostGar are making significant appearence.

Are you sure, Paul? Boy, wouldn't wanna think what would happen if Canadian Nats had an effect. {/end sarcasm.} Sorry, guess I shouldn't rub it in.

Or people already knew that Yanmega was a really good card, and it's very much in demand right now...

Hmmm, and how long has that card been out? Me thinks you are grasping at straws there DarthPika so as not to admit defeat. Why wasn't Yanmega $50+ last month?

Naaa ..... I enjoy rubbing it in too much.

Zekrom or ZPS reminds me a lot of Zap-Turn-Dos, which I felt was a well-respected deck from the EX days.

All the good players knew it would be good. The price was at $20 before Canadian nats even happened. Obviously the will super inflate the price AT an event when people will do anything for a card. I got a lot of them a long time ago because I knew they would be good. Canada nats has NOTHING to do with this. Perhaps you shouldn't be such a snot about it. :/

Woah, slow down there cowboy. Let's not get into trouble here over a silly disagreement - which is exactly what it is. You figure it has no bearing on the US Nat's, and I don't feel the same. Let's just agree to disagree. No sense getting riled up about the effect a card/deck or tournament has on another, or my comments regarding it. Had I known you would have taken it personally, I would have tempered my comments a bit. Peace.

Ehh, I over reacted a bit. You happened to be like the 10th person I saw who was going on about how no one knew about Yanmega before Canadian nationals, which, isn't true. How I only wish I had bought more at the time.... I knew it was going to be big, but I didn't think it would be THIS big. :(

Not to mention, not being able to go to nats, with the only thing everyone has been talking about nats has not done much to improve my mood. :p
