I think someone mentioned it somewhere on this forum that there are 8 unreleased Primes. If that is true, I can definitely see them trying to split them into 2 groups for 1 more filler set before or after the last HS set.

Or pull a set like RR and throw 8-9 primes in the one set lol.

^That idea makes a little more sense given we only have 1 Alph Lithograph left to be released, and I'm pretty sure 6 primes is the lowest they've gone. Though at the same time, you never know with Pokemon...

This set is so bad, I'm not even going to consider wasting my time or money getting a box. The only card aside from like 1 or 2 trainers/supporters that's good is Vileplume. The rest of the set is pretty much trash.

After opening up around 2 Boxes of this set and trading, I will be a bit more fair and highlight some of the good cards. Even though this set isn't "OMG-metagame is brokezzzz" it still has a few gems but, mostly new tricks for old decks.

Combee/Vespiquen are interesting. I am not fond of the 30 HP little bee but, it can be powerful. The deck seems Tier 2 to me but, it is still something to mention.

Houndoom Prime and Holo are both decent cards that could do something. Houndoom Prime can be a decent partner for Blaze FB to get a fast burn + 40 which makes for a nice BR/league deck. The Holo has a new counter attack which could be useful for some decks. I. Think they are interesting and might see some play.

Smeargle is a cool card but, idk how playable it is. I haven't actually used it but, some people have talked about it. I guess we will see.

Rotom is interesting but, idk what it can do in a tournament format. It seems lesser than Smeargle ATM but, it might bring on a new concept in the future.

Vileplume is the hyped card but, I don't like it TBH. It is interesting but, I don't think it breaks the meta. It does give Gengar another trick though.

Legend Box/Energy Exchanger are pretty nice with Energy Exchanger being better than Legend Box.

The Eeveelutions are always fun and Espeon could make them playable. Idk how playable they will be but, I guess we will see.

Ray/Deoxys Legend is cool but, it has pretty bad weaknesses. I do think it might see some play though.

Well, those are my highlights of the set. Hopefully others will find something too.

Hey I hope everyone has done the math but we still have 40 cards from Lost-Link which has 1 legend and 4 primes, 76 cards left from Clash At The Summit with 1 Legend left and 4 primes, the pikachu 9 card set which will probably end up being secret rares, and all of the Legend Perfect Set. Overall that's a total of 130+ cards So I'm guessing we will have two more sets before we even see B&W. Or one big set,( which I seriously doubt bc of the small sets we have been seeing)

Also Undaunted does have some cards that are worth mentioning, Legend box, Flower shop girl, Energy Exchanger, Espeon Prime,Umbreon Prime, Scizor Prime,Combee/Vespiquen,Leafeon, Weavile, Kyogre/Groudon Legend,Vileplume, and maybe some others that we have to wait for some people to mess around with at BR's. But I do not like the fact that the Pokemon Co. is mixing everything up instead of giving us the same stuff Japan is getting.

KGL is tier 3 at best. It's VERY power reliant, and it's fairly fragile, which means SPs have a field day against it, especially Luxray. It's fun to win at League by decking, though...

Luxray GL Lv.X - $80
Uxie Lv.X - $35
Destroying decks at league - Priceless

tl;dr the entire topic all pages through, my apologies...

but if we do sets spot on with Japan, when/how do we get their promos and (very rarely) vice versa?

Umbreon (from the theme deck), Smeargle, Sages, Flower Shop Girl, Driftblim, Weavile, Vespiquen, Energy Exchanger, Ruins of Alph, Defender, and Scizor Prime are all at least decent cards with potential. EDIT: Forgot Vileplume too

The sets not bad. Not like Platinum or Stormfront or anything but a good support set for the current metagame just like SV and Arceus were.

^^^^^^^^ Please expain the usefulness if RoA...not really worth it IMO.

Alright, with SPs being so popular, donphan is bound to get super popular.
AND what is the one major counter to Donphan for SPs? Crobat G.
And what does Crobat G have? Resistance to fighting preventing the KO and forcing the donphan player to deal with Zong G and Poketurn on the next turn and a fresh Crobat G if they got out of the poison.

So for the mere fact of being able to OHKO Crobat Gs and Honchkrows with Donphan and Machamp is enough to make it a decent card.

Ruins of Alph is also good for Machamp too, because Jumpluff has fighting resistance too and Crobat has been used against Machamp (when they had Unown G) for both protection and resistance.

Sage's Training isn't a very decent draw card. Also, with Uxie as the main source of drawing in every deck, I don't see a lot of draw cards being played period. People don't want big hands, because it means their uxies will be useless. That is my theory, though.

Flower Shop Girl is an extra limited Palmer's Contribution.

Defender? I could see Plus Power since you have cards like Uxie and Shuppet that can return to your hand and save them, but Defender just blocks 10 damage, and even if you stack them, there is very little ways to keep recycling them. If anything, play Buffer Piece over Defender, as it blocks 20. And even that isn't seeing play.

Driftblim, Smeargle, Weavile, Vespiquen, Vileplume, and Scizor Prime are interesting Pokemon.

I'm pretty sure the answer to the question "why were all of the cards in this set so terrible?" is "because the people who make the cards don't play Pokemon so they don't know that these cards are terrible".
