Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Vileplume Counter for Sablelock?

Usually by the time you have a Crobat to get the KO off with, though, they've set up anyway or at least won't be harmed by losing Spiritomb.

So you have to come up with your primary attacker (which now takes 3 energy to do 80 instead of just 2) without most of your search, while your opponent possibly has their primary attacker already in place.

Any deck that is playing Vileplume "correctly" will not be harmed by being trainerlocked.

Vileplume lists that run pokemon contest hall seem to help a little bit to get out bench shields, but still I think the matchup is in sablocks favor. Really you shouldn't need a counter most games that I've found. Occasionally you will get that all sp trainer hand and scoop to a t1 vileplume lol. Even then you can just judge your hands away, which should usually be done turn 1 if they don't have spiritomb and you can't donk.

agreeing with the 1-1 Blaziken Sp line... besides, the odds that the opponent manages to get vileplume and their main attacker up before you get set up are slim in my opinion, especially since s/he can't play trainers either...

I think the best option is Blaziken FB... but neither a 1-1 or a 2-1. Rather, I would simply run one. Running additional Lv.Xs hurts your consistency, and the key here is to bring up Vileplume. You should have no problem killing it pretty quickly with the basic; it has a large-ish retreat cost and, obviously, they can't Warp or Switch it out.

Honestly, if they get a Vileplume up Sabelock's not doing its job. A stage 2 should be basically impossible to get out in that matchup. However, if you do end up facing one, a 1-1 Blaziken tech should be more than sufficient to take care of that little problem. :)

4 Spiritomb and Smeargle say hello. A good Plume deck will get the Plume up. Sablelock is semi-easy to play around with Smeargle and Chatot techs.

^Spiritomb/Chatot gets eated by one Bat and an Overconfident+Sp. Dark. Smeargle's a little more difficult, but I don't see it working much. Sabelock loves Judge, so you're hoping for one supporter out of 4 cards. And really, the things they are most likely to copy? Won't help them much. Initiative might help in an almost-mirror-match sort of way, Cyrus would get them one supporter and an energy, but still.

My point is, you can get the Plume out faster than Sablelock has time to get the lock going. It's all situational though. It also depends on what you play Plume with. Chatot is just used to get out of the lock, you can sacrifice the prize cause it will keep u in the game.

it doesn't matter if plume gets out, i think if sablelock misses the donk, then it should go quickly for the set up, and the set up shouldnt take that long. uxie lvx can potentially 1hko the thing if its ever up, which i think it might because sableye will continously get prizes from those spiritombs.

What r u talking about?
How is Sablelock gonna ko the plume? There's no way it's coming active, period. Gengar/Bellossom/etc. just swings for a lot of damage every turn and most likely OHKOs. Unless you play Luxray X I don't see the Plume coming up. Sablelock will get at most 2 prizes from Tombs before the Plume etc are setup.

Lols at playing Luxray X, too - what are you going to do, Trash Bolt? So that I can Warp Energy and OHKO you?

You would have to start your turn with an active Luxray, Level Up, then retreat to your Uxie X, attach DCE, and swing to knock out the Vileplume.

Then Bellossom/Gengar/Whatever plays Judge and knocks out your Uxie X, which could leave you in just as terrible of a position as you were in before you KO'd the Plume.

pleas calm down and read carefully. first, i never siad it will ko it. second, if oddish/gloom/vileplume is on the bench using spiritomb to evolve it, after sableye knocks a couple out, plume will come out unless u have been evolving something else set up w.o rare candies and etc, therefore i said it might come out. even if one does set up with a vileplume and another pokemon, a sablelock player would be already prepared with some other cards to attack, and when that lock is off, hell will break loose.

bright look, DCE uxie lv.X end of story.

yes there are flaws and millions of things that could happen, but this is the most ideal way to deal with vileplume regardless of all the things your opponent is going to do to try and disrupt your flow.

^dude, what are you talking about. Vileplume has 120 hp, You can't play poketurns. So unless you play 4 crobat, that won't work.

Forgot it had tha much, i thought it had 90 lol. Still Dragon Rushes take care of it quite nicely. Blaze FB will work, but it will make the list less consistent. But it is all up to you. Generally, as long as they do heal vileplume, simultaneous dragon rushes deal with it. And btw, It would take them 2 turns, 1 if they are lucky to get out vileplume (assuming they dont run candies) But you can snipe off oddish or gloom before the big mushroom comes out.

I think I like you.

And Drifblim. I like Drifblim. Very cute with a Lucario sitting behind it to take a few free prizes.

Running contest hall in a plume would not be smart. You are going to give SP decks the needed gains or expert belts. Plus a BTS helps make 1st turn Vileplume a possibility.
