All right Keith!!!

Welcome aboard my friend!

Just what we need...another attorney mucking up the mix!!!

The staff for Worlds has changed from year to year...

Just like any business...they are trying to get new blood involved...while still using their tried and true members!

Heck, I know of one person who will not be on Nationals Staff, since there were so many eligible people to give these opportunities to! Was I offended? Not one bit! Spread the love PUI, spread the love!

Vince: It will be a nice change of pace from work, representing those accused of murder, drug charges, theft over $10,000, DUIs, child molestations......wait....did someone say Lafonte members have won 18 seats in Worlds.....oh well..business as usual!   j/k you Lafonte fellas. It will be fun.

Those Gym winning percentages are a joke...of course Lafonte is going to have the largest number of Gym winners because you only allow people who have a winning records in tournament play..

It kind of like gathering a bunch of Major league ball players and having them play in a triple A baseball tournament and bragging about how the pwned all those minor leaguers. I have been among the 1st to argue that Pokemon is not about luck, but the skill of the players...you guys always finish in or near the money.

Now...how much real information is going to be sent thru Lafonte to its general membership now that Nationals and Worlds is coming?

As I recall, there are already members withholding information from the general membership if I understand .......secret.deck anyone?

Its really nice to be elite (no way am I in that class)..but you guys would do wonders to improve your images if you would actually take time to maybe train some 10- kids in the finer points of the game. I know some of you do this., but more of you need to. I bow to the superior playing skills of the general membership...but maybe be more productive to growing the game.

That argument you have there isn't really relative to Lafonte. NOW, it would be if we could play in 11-14, 10-, but since we are all in 15+ it isn't really reletave.

you get the point though...besides....minor leaguers in general are the same age as the major leaguers.

Then do what Clay said and take the time to teach/train a few 10-'s or 11-14s in your area. If each of you did that with 3-5 kids, those kids would recruit even more kids to the game and the game grows. Those "little" kids wouldnt be a "threat" to you all for a few years still.

Aren't there some new Professors among the lafonte members?

And is there a (genuine) problem with that?

Even though I'm not a member of this particular group, the fact that there seems to be a sudden discrimination against them seems to be a little...oh I don't know...against the Spirit the Game?

Poke Dad's point is that it's a self fulfilling set.
People win tournaments.
They get invited to La Fonte.
La Fonte members then win tournaments.

It's not like you took scrub players and turned them into winners.

As for 'mom's points:

You use the visibility and gathering point of the PokeGym to find and recruit new members.
How many of your current members were found (or found you) through the Gym?
Not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with that. One of our missions is to get players in touch with each other. Just that some of La Fonte's success therefore belongs to the PokeGym, where you got your members, originally.
You've been "cream skimming".

AZ: Uhhh...no; just continuing the train of thought begun by Lawman and PokeDad in the posts above...

No. It's keys off of the previous post because the purpose of being a Professor is to.... what?

Who says we don't do that?Obviously not all of us do.I know a few that do, 'Lafonte' is not one person, we are many. Please stop making it seem as if we are one person.

I have nothing but respect for the playing skills of all the members who are fortunate enough to have enough friends already on Lafonte to get them in to that elite circle :thumb: if you know what I mean.

before you get indignant, you should read ALL my previous post where I made mention of this very point

Clay: I have a lot of the local judges and adults who come to tournaments come to me asking for help with their son or daughter's deck, and I always give them honest advice. I don't live in an area with organized local tournaments currently, but before I went off to college I regularly helped many 10- and 11-14 kids with their decks. Seena was one of them :D I get IMed and PMed with so many lists per week that it would blow your mind. Perhaps that's why I'm not on the decks forum so much, because I'm independantly fixing so many decks. I've also done two archetype articles and will probably do more after Worlds. If you or your daughter is in need of some help, I'll be sure to fix up any deck; just send me a line.

Mom: What Lafonte has that the Gym doesn't is a bunch of members who have been banned from these boards. Additionally, we can "let our hair down" more there than we can here. What the Gym has to offer that Lafonte does not is a place where we can voice our opinions about major game issues and discuss things with POP directly. Additionally it is a great place for news, information, random discussion, and a great place to meet new Pokemon people.

Why do people with "dual citizenship" view themselves as being from Lafonte? Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that we own and mod the boards, and also vote in all the members. On Lafonte we are all voting members of the board and the major decisions that occur there. On the Pokegym it feels, to me anyways, that we are guests on TC's boards. It doesn't feel necessarily like "home" as much as Lafonte does. Compounded with the fact that probably half the people who DO have "dual citizenship" have been banned at some point or another from here adds to the fact that we feel alienated and don't view it as "our" board as much as just being visitors.

Don't get me wrong, I love and have loved the gym for years, but it no longer feels like "home" to me as much as it used to under Tyais' control. I'm only speaking for myself, however.

Lafonte now has the maximum damage possible in the game of pokemon without needing infinite heads. That pretty much trumps all other points.

How much damage is that? This past weekend, dragonairmaster8 did 400 points of damage to my nidoran female. Was it more than that?

If "Lafonte" is to be measured as a group for their accomplishments (ie 32 % wins in GCs), then they also collectively must take the hit on the "problems" they create or the image it promotes. It doesnt go both ways. Individually, someone makes an error, but as a group, we are the "leetest" players around and "pwnage" all the other "noobs". Nope...doenst work that way in the real world. You want to be part of that group, you wil take some of the hits too.

I missed this thread from the beginning because my internet's been out since the end of April. I started it and figured somewhere in there I'd understand what everyone was talking about.

Now that I've read all 10 pages, it's 2 AM, my head hurts, and I think I know LESS than I did when I started.

Pokemon is always so darn complicated. *Goes to bed*
