Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What WILL Win States?

To add to that, Steve will tell you, that he had a LOT of luck. If he had a few flips going differently or faced a deck that beat should beat him more, then he wouldn't of won. It was a smart choice and Steve had luck on his side. That's not me saying Steve is a lucky player, but he had luck going in his favor. You need some luck in a tournament. Anyone who says you don't is being silly.

Drew

Yeah I agree with this. Once you're in the Top 16/8, everyones going to be of the same high skill level so it just comes down to luck and matchups. You can't outplay a bad matchup/opponent that easily at that point.

Steve's T8 matchup versus Gyarados comes to mind in this, the flips killed his opponent.

Ya, luck will play a lot in the T8. However, with today's metagame, its consistancy that will matter the most.
As for Speedril or Raybees, it's dead at this point. Too many things slow it down, particulary Palkia Lock or LEGOS which we might also see a bit of.

Also, I updated the list with some of the decks you guys mentioned. Thanks :thumb:

Pokegym is starting to look like facebook post's.

Seconded, I really haven't been on this site in a month and it seems like now more than ever you have a whole bunch of cocky kids with poorly tested decks making up 90% of the posters.

To make this on topic. I don't know what will do well according to the front page every deck has positive match ups against 90% of the format :nonono:

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

If it won Worlds and that good, how come it's never played? Beedrill wasn't the best deck at that time and never has. It won because it was a smart metagame choice because most of Worlds was dominated by Flygon.

SP Dominated Worlds at least 50% IMO, Flygon was a much small part I don't think it made up more than 10% to %15

I think luxchomp is the deck to beat and gengar/spiritomb does gyarados (with all the luxrays around) or Donphan/Flygon (too much set up) even have a chance? am I missing something?

also jumpluff is hurt badly by the crobat/poketurn and chomp 80 hitting shaymin!

Oh OK, looking from reports it seemed more. Maybe because the Flygon builds did so well, the players with good results played most of them in top cut/later rounds?

No villainous deck is going to come out of nowhere and surprise us. That's happened what, twice ever? The second time we knew it was coming too. Gyaridos = win.

I think its pretty obvious whats gonna dominate the format:
1 G-dos
2 LuxChomp
3 Gengar

I don't have any idea which of these will win but of the many other decks in this meta these three seem like overall the best of any with solid match ups against most of the format. I can't see rogue taking many wins here.

I can definitely see a few rogues sneaking in. 2 of those 3 decks can be easily countered, and the other can to a lesser degree. If metas are creative and use the right counters, there is no doubt that something unexpected will slip in.

Mamp

I firmly believe Mamoswine will win every SPT.

I have tried this deck and it works really well until someone snipes claydol

so no votes for my amazing t-tar deck??

I think t tar is great for the ohko are you going to share your decklist? Darkrai? How does it do against luxchomp what about promocroak?

With DCE back, T-tar might actually be half decent again . . .

. . . as long as no-one plays Donphan.

And I think we all know donphan will be played.

But seriously, I do think T tar is playable. It could do well, but gallade, machamp, and donphan all hurt it very, very badly. It would have to be really fast and really smartly played.

so t-tar FTW???? i need to know if t-tar will own atleast 1 maybe 3? and to answer your question i just made my t-tar deck and it's good against both luxchump and promocrunk in fact this is what i won my city championship back in 08-09
