I realize this may not be news, but with all the talk of Worlds 2007 and Nationals 2007, I have to believe that PUI already knows the answer to this.

PUI, would you be please tell us if US Nationals for 2007 is going to be at Origins or is it going to be somewhere else?

If I were a betting man, this is what I'd say:

95% Nats will remain at Origins

4% It will be moved, but still be at least 2,000 miles from my house

1% Nats will be a closed event, there will be only 20 people per age group, and it'll moved to Tahiti

Um, I am pretty sure it aint moving...

Plz Remember, I know it was posted somewhere... They Said (I Think Dave) that they had no intentions or plans to move US Nats at the current time...
However I would do search but I am kinda tired...

i really hope it moves. all other card games have left origins (magic, vs, ygo...) the only gamers left are the "hard-core" ones - the ones that will sit at a table 3 days straight without showering and just playing dungeons and dragons, is that the kinda people we want in pokemon?

I'm sure the organizers of Origins wouldn't want it to be known as "That Pokemon Event" either. It's great that we have such a huge turnout, and support by POP for such as an event at Origins, but unless it's $ feasible to move it, I can't see it happening.

Believe me, Pokemon has those kinds of players as well.

We'll see what happens. PUI handed out surveys at this year's Nationals, and I'm sure they're using those as input from players.

yes, but do we really want more of them? imo, those are the people that portray the negative stereotype of pokemon players, making the rest of us look bad...

how many "hard-core" gamers do you think we actually "converted" to play pokemon? i honestly doubt very many.

also, i agree 100% that nationals should be moved to an anime convention. here's a list of anime conventions happening through out the year: http://www.anime-cons.com/events/calendar.shtml/001 . I think anime expo would be the perfect replacement to origins.

Adding a few things to the benefits of anime conventions vs. origins:

ANY anime Cosplayers > Grungy looking D&D costumes

"Hmm..... loads of CG's or sausage fest with a few onion rings? I'll take CG's anyday!"

SD Comic-Con International FTW...not just comics, not just anime, but EVERYTHING pop-culture...movies, animation, gaming, toys/action figures etc.

Problems would be: SDCC is already so big, space would be likely be an issue...not to mention hotel space, and the 'OMG West Coast bias!!1!!' factor...

It wouldn't be a bad idea, as long as POP gave out as many trips to Americans as they did to Worlds this year, to the SDCC.

BUT...I simply don't see that happening.

I hope Nationals doesn't move. I am actually able to attend it, but if it moved to California, I would have to miss Worlds and Nationals.

I don't want anime-fanatics to play Pokemon. It gives NORMAL people like me a bad name.

Origins is a pain because it's so expensive to get there and you hafta pay admission too...

When I can have Pokémom agree with me, I know I'm on to something good! :thumb:
I can't see where there could be any fallout from this idea. POP needs new blood to keep OP alive and buying more cards. These conventions are just the right medium.

All ages attend for many things and I suspect a few of their attendance #'s already beat out Origins by a longshot. That is major exposure to the right audience. Please, anyone with some influence with POP, pass them this suggestion and make me happy.

anime fanatics ... *blinks* anime is good for you ... anime ... pokemon .... me like ....

lol, anyways, i kind like it should stay at origians, from what i saw theres a lot of space, so if more space is needed, it shouldn;t be much of a problem ... anime conventions are usually tied up on space, so if its needed there, it might not be possible if its already booked as it is ...

Ok whatever floats your boat or delivers your baby... =\
I was just saying "hardcore" players are just as bad as anime "fanatics"
