Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Why I/You hate Ash from the anime

1 question - what the -BLAM!- happened to Charizard?
Seriously, why does Ash not just use Charizard and kill everyone.
(I know where 'zard is btw, just trying to figure out why Ash doesn't use him >_>)

WOW so much hate towards Ash, granted the show doesn't have the heart it use to but c'mon. When Ash made it to the Johto region he was using his Charizard to battle everyone and he destroyed the first gym leader with two moves. So if any blame goes to anyone it should be to Brock who told Ash that it wasn't really fair that he was using his highly trained Pokemon. So that's when Ash started using Pokemon native to their Regions. And if they made Ash go all the way to beating the Elite Four then their would be no point of any more episodes. That's way they gave us the Battle Frontier in which Ash won and was offered to be a Frontier Brain. Yeah I miss Misty and Brock but they're trying to keep the show fresh instead of having the same characters over and over. One more thing, they tried to start a new series in the Johto area with that guy with the Typhlosion and it bombed. So just adding my opinion here so please stop the hatin.

...Hmm...
Ash ketchum is possibly one of the most nooby trainers I have every witnessed. I mean he has Never won a single pokémon league (except for the orange league, which was obviously so easy that nintendo would be wasting time by making an orange island game). Also, he has never got the the finals of any of the pokémon leagues. I mean, the closest he's every been to winning an official league was top four in the sinnoh league.
Also, why does the companions of ash change so often. Misty and Brock were the best, hands down... Oh, in Best wishes, is ash 12 again, because his eyes make him look like a child. And here's a challenge for all of you. I bet that ask will not do any better than top eight in the unova league, and after this, another series will pop up to have the sinnoh battle frontier.
Finally... WHY DIDN'T ASH WANNA BE A FRONTIER BRAIN!!??

With every other new season Ash should grow and look a little older. I have been a pokemon fan since day 1 but I havent watched the show since a little after the 1st movie came out. I only watched the shows for the battles and too many filler episodes turned me off. Ash is retarded, hes ugly and has a super annoying voice. I guess I don't understand the pokemon company. Surely there must be a million other people out there just like me, who have loved pokemon since day 1 and have literally grown up with pokemon. Is an anime that is more mature(interesting plot, intense battles ect) really infeasible? I personally know over 10 people my own age who play the pokemon games, im 23. I know I will like pokemon till I am dead, come on pokemon company, reward us loyal fans with an anime that is worth a crap, even if its just a series of feature length films and not a television series I would buy that! Everyone would!

I'm sure this has been pointed out before but the main reason I don't like Ash is the fact that he has been all over the world but everytime he enters a new place (like a new region) he acts like it's his first time ever holding a poke ball. You would think after fithteen years and five different regions (not counting Unova but counting the Orange Islands) he would know how to beat the first trainer he runs into with no problem. I know it's a show for kids but even when I was a kid I asked myself the same question. I know we all know that Ash has more skill the Paul but still he acts as if that was his first real rivail. To me that is something that the wrighters should have put into place, just because it's a new regoin doesn't mean that Ash lost him mommorie. Just thank about some of the pokemon games that Ash had done in the Sinnoh region, some of them have very simaler rules as the Orange Islands gym badges. So I guess the thing that I'm pointing out is that I don't like how Ash never sames to get any extra IQ points after each battle, I would have to say that Ash is as hard headed as his Metapod in that battle with that bug sameri (Metapod harden... no Metapod harden maximum strength) you know that episode. Well I guess I'll stop for now before I type out a book on this one reason!.

I like Ash because he has the Luffy/Naruto/Goku like ability to turn almost anyone he meets into his friend. Obviously they need some enemies to have a sense of drama and conflict in their stories, but for the most part...

I also like Ash because a few times each season he comes up with pretty interesting strategies. (Counter-shield ftw!)

But, his cons list is far more intensive.

I hate Ash because he's a noob.

He seems to learn from his mistakes, (arrogance being a major one) and he turns around and makes the same mistake again, while wondering why. >_>

He didn't block Butterfree from finding a mate, which is understandable and even likable. Charizard is off getting stronger with people he can relate to which is neat, and he said up-front that he would help Lapras find it's mother which meant, eventually, letting her go.

But, for Pidgeot and Primeape he had no excuse!

If I recall he left Pidgeot behind to protect some lesser evolutions from a flock of angry Spearow/Fearow. The same ones that attacked him and Pikachu in the first episode, no? That was AGES ago and they should have all evolved enough that they can handle themselves now. Go get your Pidgeot, Ash!

Primeape was being trained into a top fighter in it's own right. This was the same day, if I recall, that Ash and Primeape truly bonded with each other. Again, that was ages ago and, by now, he's either one of the best Tournament-worthy Primeape out there, or he's clearly not cut out for it. You'd think his original trainer would have dropped him a line or something in all these years. Go get your Primeape, Ash!

Then, there's his Pokemon. They've won some truly epic battles against all odds. Then they've lost for no reason. I.E:

Dragonite hit Pikachu with Hyper Beam.
It wasn't very effective! Pikachu used Thunderbolt.
Dragonite fainted!

Metapod hit Pikachu with Tackle.
Pikachu fainted!

Yeaaaah.......about that. >_>

Now, let's talk about Team Rocket. Ash is ALWAYS surprised when they appear!

Any other sane and competent person who'd seen those 3, even just 3 times, would recognize them on sight unless they'd really put in work to disguise themselves. Short, furry man that looks like a Meowth, tall and arrogant woman with long red hair, and a tall, effeminate male with short blue hair? Should be easier to spot then Waldo. Glasses and fancy suits do not a good disguise make. Not being able to recognize the 3 'Gym Re-modelers' as Jessie, James, and Meowth is like not being able to recognize Serena as Sailor Moon. Really now...

Speaking of Team Rocket, they suck too. The few, 2 out of 10, times they managed to catch/outsmart/overpower Ash and his Friends, they still turned around and lost to the 'Character of the Day', whether it was Gym Leader or some kid with 2 badges. If I were them, I'd find out exactly where Ash and his Friends were currently staying at, go to some nowhere place 25 miles away, catch every rare pokemon in the area (with a Pokeball) virtually unopposed, and THEN come challenge him and his friends to a battle. Even if by some miracle Ash STILL managed to win, Team Rocket could still send their own rare pokemon to the Boss and finally earn some Brownie Points in their career.

But. this is about Ash.

Ash has enough interested females to form his own harem. He's even been kissed by some. (3, to be exact, I believe.) But, he shows no interest in them at all. This is highly annoying as this show could do with a bit more romance to hold peoples interest.

They have epic battles/plots, outside of Gym/Contest Matches, like once every 25 episodes. The rest of the time is bland, uninteresting, who's-that-pokemon stuff. This would turn anyone away after awhile.

BRING BACK MISTY!!!!

And, of course, Ash has never won a Major League, nor have his friends, never ages, never dies (Like Love Hina's Keitaro) which is actually kinda cool, and never catches awesome new pokemon even when they practically jump in the Pokeball themselves.

Just my feelings, though.

BTW I recently read about the "theory" that Ash is in a coma, and thus dreaming the whole Pokemon anime...
Pretty weird stuff.

I don't actually "hate" Ash, he just gets kind of annoying when he never beats the E4 from any particular region,
and then moves on to the next region.

Plus he never hits on any of the girls he travels with, which is odd since most of them are cute.

Ash is basically the justin beiber of the pokemon world:

He doesn't age (come ON he's supposed to be like 22)
He can't win against anything
He's too happy all the time, it's creepy
He's always around girls.

:/

One more thing... ash doesn't have a father.

While the character of Ash is honestly not interesting at all, I - in my adult years - have begun to appreciate what he's about.

Yes, it is annoying that Ash always loses in each region despite beating legendaries, but you know what this is? A deconstruction - that's what.

There's a REASON why we're all annoyed that he hasn't won a championship before, and that's simply because we hope - even expect - better of him. The route cause of this is because, as Japanese and American fans, we would hope for no less than the same for ourselves, since our cultures are so success-oriented.

In other words: Ash is us; we are Ash. And for every time Ash fails, he reminds us of our own failures.

P.S. And that whole "Pikachu-can-beat-legendaries-yet-lose-to-Baby-Pokemon" thing? That's a realistic portrayal showing that even the best have their off days. Brilliant...Just brilliant.

Why I hate Ash... how can I count the ways...

He's seems to be the same newb he was when he first started. He never keeps his good pokemon. He never lets his good ones evolve. Each one of his new outfits make him look younger! Wait until you see the BW region outfit. Makes you think Harley designed it (if you catch my drift) He never hooked up with Misty or any girls that showed interest in him. Especially that one girl in the Latios/Latias Movie. He refused to become a Frontier Brain with his own facility.

But the number 1 reason I hate Ash... He suffers from a disease known as maincharacteritis. Symptoms include god-like luck in never losing when they are suppose to be. This appears to be the problem until he actually meets someone that actually knows what their doing to break that disease.

I knew there was something I missed. The Battle Frontier thing.

I think Ash should have become a Frontier Brain. He could have done the same thing the Pyramid Tycoon did and have a moving fortress. Not only could he have been able to accept challenges from almost literally anywhere while continuing his own journey, he and his friends could have had a pretty sweet ride in the process.

Alas....

That is so deep. I mean... Wow. That's crazy.

He's brains are reset in each region.
He traveled 5 years being a pokemon trainer and forgot to weaken a pokemon.
And he never use skill to catch a pokemon

SOOOO true! I cant think of many that didnt just hop in a pokeball because he "solved" their problem lol

I can't hate Ash. actually, I can and do, but I shouldn't. ;)

The writers/producers of the show that keep making it so cliche? That might be another story. I was so happy when Max and May were introduced... because I foolishly thought they'd figured it out: Brock and Ash travel with new Trainer/coordinator to help them out. So simple: just switch in a new n00b each region, and maybe actually make it a restriction that championships require you use "native" Pokemon. While it wouldn't match the video games, now instead of being some dorky self-rule its just another part of Pokemon, and my brain can handle it.

Likewise, let Team Rocket go or let them progress. Have villains at least half-succeed, or have them rethink their approach; instead of having Team Rocket just seemingly steal all their Pokemon, how about having them be a group (or whoever the villains are) that offers power at a price? You know, so you can have an actual moral lesson as Ash (or preferably the proxy-Ash n00b he'd be mentoring by now) has a rival that joins Team Rocket, and at first it seems great until things fall apart. Or maybe they never do: a lesson a lot of people need to learn is sometimes evil pays off in this life, and you just need to reject evil because it is wrong, not because the good guys will win at the last minute.
