Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Worlds Championship decks

Hm... it almost seems like they didn't print Sammi's deck because he's European. Last year they didn't print Khan Le's deck but the other Blissey instead. =(

The Top Four in each age division were:
5 Americans
4 European
3 Japanese

The World Champions were:
2 Japanese
1 American

What they printed:
3 Americans
1 Japanese

Is it just me or does this look somewhat strange?

I'm not sure, but afaik the names have been given by the players.

How it was explained to me was that they generally take the winners in each age group, unless there is a repeat deck in which case it goes to the lower age group.

They didn't print Sami's deck because there was a flygon in the lower age group.

They didn't prin Khan Le's deck because there was a blissey in the lower age group.

I'm sure that them being European is just a coincidence

I really cannot believe the names of these decks.

How many times have we talked about stalling being a negative part of the game and then a deck is published called "Stallgon". That is not very good in my opinion.

Raybees FTW.

The winners pokemon was: Gengar, Beedrill, Flygon and..... Skuntank.
Wouldn't Luxray be a better front pokemon?

Raybees could have negative connotations attached, simply because it sounds like another word. If I were to guess, I'd say that would be why it wasn't used.

QFT!! Doubt the OP brass had a hand with these names. Looks more like R&D.

They ask the deck builders to come up with several names and they pick one. So Raybees was probably an option, but not chosen for obvious reasons.

Are these in stores yet?

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Stalling is a legitimate tactic that has been around since the beginning of the game. Don't knock it just because you don't like it or can't play it.

I am almost positive the 3 Japanese players were playing identical decks.

what?....

The gamewinning pokemon Luxray wich was in all the winners deck didnt even get too stand first in any of the decks? :p

Instead they put a lousy Skuntank there :p

why....

They tend to favor younger age groups when considering which decks to print and if given the opportunity to print a senior and a junior deck, they'll print the junior deck =/
That's not the right way in my opionion. The decks are mainly for players who want to learn from the champions. I think a deck from a higher age group is better for that purpose. Exspecially this year, since Takuto is probably the youngest Senior player who ever won Worlds, he's kind of popular (a lot of masters players got cards signed by him) and he got 2nd the year before.

I guess if the SP deck was a) from Takuto and b) with Luxray as front Pokémon instead of Skuntank, sales would increase a lot. Honestly, why Skuntank on the cover? Last year they didn't choose Toxicroak (which was the main Pokémon in the deck) because it's too unpopular, and now Skuntank which is only for support?! Then why not take Claydol as cover Pokémon for the other decks? =P

Dude - back down.

Stalling is not the same as decking someone. Stalling has been around. It is against the rules.

So no I don't like stalling and no I don't stall when I play.

The word stall was the wrong choice for that deck name. FlyLock is what it was.

ughhh, whats with these names.... and deck cover pokemon...

i know he came 5th, but i think they should have made an exception for the g-dos deck

those guys broke new ground making that deck, and its soo popular now in br's

flychamp > flygon-stall

i dont think they were ever called ... atleast ive never heard of them being called that... and i agree with kirwin i wouldve picked flychamp over flystall

Seriously, who ever created these crazy names should not even play Pokemon ever again. For example, Luxdrill?!? It should be called RayBee's for peeps sake. Once again, why QueenGar instead of Mother Gengar. Everyone was getting used to the name Mother Gengar and everyone likes that name better. Obviously, some players don't keep up with the Pokegym site. Next time, the judges should ask one of the older players that go on the Pokegym site all the time to name their decks, so players won't get confused by the deck names.

I had two serious names on the list (albiet still not that original or classy sounding...but better then Stall-gon) and then two joke names I put down for fun, that I believed they wouldn't pick. Buuuut they did indeed choose Stall-gon. Which was one of the more joking names.

Yes, I suck at names. I've seen countless better ideas in this thread that I couldn't think of on the spot. :X

So...it's my fault, but it is what it is.

Wait a second... Do you really think that, who can archieve juniors second place at worlds is playing with crappy deck? 4th Junior place finnish player was playing with perfect (versus meta-game) LuxApe list and didn't made ANY mistakes in tournament and he didn't even won worlds with that play... So think again, when laming juniors  (Don't lame my english skills!)

Each of the top players were asked to submit 4 names for their decks. I know Steve submitted RayBees, Silvestdrill, and 2 others. He did not use speedrill, since he had Luxray in his list.
