Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Worlds Championship decks

It should be noted that PUI has once again used the term "stall," which they also did with the Platinum strategy guide books... that kind of stuff should be avoided.

It's obviously referring to stalling by using a defensive strategy, not stalling by playing slowly. And IIRC, they don't actually use the term "stall" in the Tournament Rules to refer to playing slowly.

Hm... it almost seems like they didn't print Sammi's deck because he's European. Last year they didn't print Khan Le's deck but the other Blissey instead. =(

The Top Four in each age division were:
5 Americans
4 European
3 Japanese

The World Champions were:
2 Japanese
1 American

What they printed:
3 Americans
1 Japanese

Is it just me or does this look somewhat strange?

I'm not sure, but afaik the names have been given by the players.

hey may have requested to not have his deck printed

the deckout machine is better than stallgon ,Raybees is alot decent than luxdrill but luxdrill is still better. and wait ''crowned tiger'' what a name?? Luxray toolbox is the name.but its ok for tsubasa tho.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

or maybe the Luxray and Partners Sp co.

They print the colors of the basic energy in the deck. That's :fighting: and :psychic: in Flygon.
,

Cohen used this energy mix
4 call
3 fighting
3 psychic
1 water
1 upper

because the only other basic energy was :water: and he only ran one, they chose to make it :psychic::fighting:.

Who does Pokemon market itself to? (answer: THE KIDS!!!)

How would it suit their stated market base by ignoring THE KIDS in favor of the older players?

KIDS like buying stuff that other KIDS made successful.

I have little doubt that, every single year, the 1st place Junior deck will always be printed. PCI skews itself towards the Junior division on purpose. (hasn't this always been the case?)

JMO, but younger players also look up to the older players and would buy their decks as well.

I reviewed the released version of the Strat guide and I fed back to PUI that "stall" is bad. Andy was grateful for the comments I gave.

Understood where you are coming from, it is like a car stalling. But in the game, it is a dirty word. I think that they should have checked with OP folks before publishing.

i more likely going to buy that Flygon deck, as it's the Palkia version... so yeah, i may or may not want to get the luxray-toolbox one... i'll pass on raybees and queen gengar.

Each of the top players were asked to submit 4 names for their decks.

What Keith said is what I've always heard. I'm not too bent out of shape about the names (if you are, then write them directly if you care), except for Stallgon. As several have pointed out, this is not a positive word for a strategy. It's at least as bad from a game play perspective as 'Raybees' might be from a parent(?) perspective. Personally, Raybees seems like a rockin marketing name to me, but w/e.

I'm going to write (customerservice?) and ask that the word 'stall' be noted in any style guide that marketing has as 'not to be used' for op-related marketing. You may recall the controversy over the use of that word in the cool little Platinum Strategy Guide that had the promo 'croak in it.

Why does the Flygon deck have Fighting and Colorless symbols on it? 99% sure he used something close to my list and that didn't run any fighting Pokemon besides Trapinch and Vibrava lol

Is there anything wrong with raybees that I just dont get?

Sound it out phonetically. Ray, as in the name Ray Romano, Everybody Loves Raymond. RayBees. Rabies. The disease. Probably the reason that one wasn't chosen.

I've always been pretty sure "Raybees" wasn't getting chosen. Darn that disease!

However, couldn't you have just said "Either Raybees or Daddydeck (or whatever it was) please - I don't want any other names" and have it left at that?
