European Hawaii Trips through rankings

I know what 4-2 in the swiss does to your rating: about -40 points. Fingers crossed for next year.

I hope Jasper wins too.... :D

Can I make 1 thing clear.
Jasper is sick for already 4 months, his decission to drop was part of this time and all former times dropping.
It's a choice we had to made between playing a few rounds and not getting to much health problems, or playing all rounds and knowing there will be problems the same evening and days after.

I don't know what he is going to do at Nationals, he sure wants to play but it depends on his health if he can do it and how long he can play.
I had planned to go to Denmark this week to play 3 BR, but today his doctor called and I have to take him to the hospital again tomorrow for more tests.

It's hard for a 12 years old boy to admit he is to tired to play more rounds, so I told him to say it's to secure points. But honestly we couldn't care less about rankings/points/dropping at this moment.
I would give all his rankingpoints to find out what went wrong after the surgery and heal him.

Lia: I hope you all find out something soon about Jasper. He is a super kid and made a friend in my son Alex from playing @ Worlds 2 yrs ago in 10-! My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.

OT: We are starting to see more drops in the USA in BRs too....to protect "points". While I understand that, it is hard to me to see, as a PTO, saying X "won" the tourney bc the top 2-4 players dropped before last round, etc.

Lol, Concending is legal :D

I have dropped 50 points since nats :p

But among the 3 times you lost to Linnea, only one was by conceding ...

Anyway, and this goes to everyone:
Conceding IS legal. It has however happened very few times in Norway that a National champ has entered a tournament and conceded. Actually, 2 (Junior and Masters) out of our 3 National Champs just stopped playing after Nationals. Only one has been playing Battle Roads, Mikkel/BJ. At the two BRs after Nats, he's gone 3-1 in Swiss in both of them, worked his way to the final (as he always does) and only conceded in the final. One concede to Linnea at Vinterbro's final and one to Axel in Oslo's final has been the only match he hasn't played out.

I'm sure Denmark and any other country is the same: Yes, conceding does happen, occasionally. But still, players want to play, and good players don't feel like suddenly becoming someone who goes 2-2 in Swiss. It's about honour too.

A bit OT but.......are Americans hiding Rankings results now? I can't see the ranking page at the moment....

The europe masters ratings are awfully tight right now.

With the NL nationals still to go and Denmark still playing battle roads that 4th place spot is looking very risky. Thats very tough on Esa if he misses out right at the very end.

marstio,
There shouldn't be any need to keep the Palokka result secret. What if everyone did that and waited untill the last day before uploading tournaments..

Marstio is a honest and wise business man and is doing this for spirit of the game.

he even inserted ghost players for spirit of the game.

LOL!

Yes i did, because of getting only age separated junior group. We have got our punishment for that allready, but if u feel that u want to remind that here, plz your welcome.
And remember, those ghosts did not play any game in tournament. And they was only few junior.

Good grief another edit: Esa went X-0 ! That is something to celebrate and not to hide. Haven't we learnt anything that in order to avoid accusations of wrong doing we need to be open about our activities?

Me I'm trying to figure out if there is the outside chance of my son getting the last rating invite. He has played extremely well all year but had a very bad nationals against flariados. Esa has played well too, so why the secrecy. Esa is a highly deserving candidate for the worlds invite, there is no need to hide behind an unreported tournament.

I will be mightly annoyed if a tournament is sprung on me at the last minute that makes several expensive trips around the UK wasted journeys. Not exactly spirit of the game all this cloak and dagger and secrecy. Also by maintaining secrecy you only increase the outcry at the end of the season if Finland sweeps the ratings invites.

It isn't enough to be honest you have to be seen to be honest too.

Hey,

Just a question:
Who has to pay for the trips that are awarded through the rankings? Is it Pokemon USA or the local distributor of the country of the player that won the invite through rankings?

thnx
