Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

2009 - 2010 League Cycle - UXIE AND CLAYDOL

it should be bacon and beer, rather than roses and chocolate ;)

'mom

Wasn't that pretty much what the Native American's were promised after the Trail of Tears?

well, the bacon is still owed, so you'd better take the chocolate while the offer is still on the table! :tongue:

j/k

ANYWAY ...

This is just about UNBELIEVABLE.

It's like a "yeah right" sort of Joke. Isn't it?

Like someone joking about "I wish pop9 had Uxie LA and Claydols. Then, I'd be at league EVERY week."

Guess what?

We'll see you there :thumb:

It's just supreme hotness man. It truly levels the playing field for those kids who CAN'T spend $40 on ebay PER uxie or Clayol. Now, everyone can be competitive.

Absolutely Amazing! The league kids are going to be SO excited to see these legendary Pokemon (around here, Uxie and Claydols are so few they're legendary... LOL !)

A Brilliant move and a great counter to YGO's TURBO Packs - keep up the good work POP you really listened to what we wanted for league .. cards that can get new players into the game :thumb:

I'd love to know more about how they plan to incorporate the video game into league. There is no proper level balance system outside of PBR and wifi matches. This is the part that really interests me.

you and me both - unless they give specific details, I plan on putting a restriction or two, like no legendary pokemon and a level limit, say around 55, maybe 65. The reason behind this is because some legendary pokes are rather hard to go against, like Dialga....and others may not be legit, like Mewtwo (for those who use AR/Gameshark/etc). as for the level limit, some players like Dragonite, which evolves much later than virtually any other pokemon.

So can you only earn 1 of the cards?

the way the point cards look, you can earn 4 of each, as for details, I haven't heard anything about it or seen anything in the OP of this thread to mention it - however we seem to be getting new info week to week and the season starts next monday, so hopefully someone posts the new rules for this cycle soon.

I have also heard that you will be able to earn 4 of each, but only if you play the video games.

Each time you reach the Pokeball, you receive 1 of each card. You cannot earn more than 4 of each card. It doesn't matter if you get to the Pokeball on the TCG track or on the VG track.
  • If you choose to only play TCG, you'll earn 4 of each card.
  • If you choose to only play VG, you'll earn 4 of each card.
  • If you choose to play both TCG and VG, you'll earn 4 of each card.
You are NOT forced to play both TCG and VG to earn your promos.

I was thinking the rules for worlds this year are a pretty good guideline for league matches. Unfortunately, that does eliminate Tyranitar and Dragonite.

I'd really love to get a TV set up with PBR at league I run.

what did they use rule wise at worlds (I've never been, nor have I read anything about vid game content from worlds)???

Okay, thanks for the clarification.

Well, besides it being doubles, the pokemon needed to be level 50 or lower (Tyranitar and Dragonite fell to the way-side because they evolve at level 55.). Level 50 being an easier level to get to than 100. There could not be two or more items of the same kind on your pokemon and rules like that.

The banned Pokemon (more importantly) were:

* 149 - Dragonite
* 150 - Mewtwo
* 151 - Mew
* 248 - Tyranitar
* 249 - Lugia
* 250 - Ho-Oh
* 251 - Celebi
* 382 - Kyogre
* 383 - Groudon
* 384 - Rayquaza
* 385 - Jirachi
* 386 - Deoxys
* 483 - Dialga
* 484 - Palkia
* 485 - Heatran
* 486 - Regigigas
* 487 - Giratina
* 489 - Phione
* 490 - Manaphy
* 491 - Darkrai

Item(s) banned:
Soul Dew

Of course, it is league and being too strict would be no fun, but it is a nice guideline to have.

I'm hoping to get a few tournaments started at my league.

ah, well it looks like I'm on par with what they did at worlds then, right Medaforcer?

we'll probably discuss level limit and see what everyone thinks, we've few players who have the video games. as for items, we'll leave that alone [don't see any need to bother with it]. And we'll probably make it doubles as that's the standard.

Huh, Skymin's allowed in VGC? They don't allow it in online play, but I guess 2v2 play is detrimental to it.
