Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

A New Location for Worlds 2013?

We have this discussion every year, look how far we have gotten.

Out of curiosity, what percent of judges/staff in worlds were from the United States this year? or any previous years.

It would be fair for the other people, like it's expensive as it is in hawaii and it doesn't fit anyones budget, hell I gotta save over 8 grand to take my fam.

I know its not fair for other people, but the Japanese kinda created the game and since worlds ins't in their country its going to be the next closest place to them that's in the U.S which is Hawaii. I would much rather see Worlds in San Diego every year than the San Diego Hawaii switch up because San Diego is a lot cheaper than flying all the way to Hawaii.

Obviously, its not fair that it hangs in the West all of the time. But, NY, NY is NOT the answer. I heard on the radio today that tolls are about to be cranked from $7/$8ish to $15. Now, I get that you people in NY don't know any different, but to the rest of the country, the $7 toll is ridiculous. I also heard that cigarettes (I don't smoke, I'm just making a point) are about $15 a pack in NY while they are about $5-$6 everywhere else. And, I've known people that have moved from NY to my area and said they made substantially more money in NY than they do here but its so much cheaper to live here, they have substantially more money now.

Now, I do realize that Cali is uber-stupidly expensive when compared to the rest of the US as well, but its not NYC.

As for the whining about it always being in the US, there are a lot of cool opportunities to go international, but think of the impossible logistics. Honestly, I'm surprised they are going back to Hawaii, it has to be a logistical nightmare for TCPi to arrange a tournament in HI when they are in WA or wherever. In fact, its probably quite a pain for them (logistically speaking) to have tournaments San Diego, but the pain becomes exponentially less as the distance from their base shrinks.

But, since we are all cherry picking some favorites, I would LOVE to see it in Texas. The obvious choice would be Dallas (DFW area, anyway), though Houston is a good "fair weather city" that matches climates of Hawaii, San Diego, and Florida. But, if I had to choose any place to have it in Texas, I would go with San Antonio. San Antonio is just an awesome city. Its one of those places that just has a ton of things to do and everyone would enjoy.

2013 will be on the West Coast again.

And I'll bet I can guess what brand of hotel it will be in.

2012 - Hilton Waikoloa Village Hotel. Waikoloa, HI
2011 - Hilton Bayfront Hotel. San Diego, CA
2010 - Hilton Waikoloa Village Hotel. Waikoloa, HI
2009 - Hilton Bayfront Hotel. San Diego, CA
2008 - Hilton Hotel. Walt Disney World Resort. Orlando, FL
2007 - Hilton Waikoloa Village Hotel. Waikoloa, HI
2006 - Hilton Anaheim. Anaheim, CA

And there are a lot of good players in Hawaii? :/

With all due respect, out of the 24 people who qualified for VGC Worlds this year, 6 of them alone were from NY.

Sure, it's not TCG, but I'm just pointing that out. Not having good players in an area is a poor reason not to hold Worlds in that place.

I'd also like to point out the fact that the North East is actually very strong at both TCG and VGC, especially in New Jersey. Just some examples off my head: Victor Aung, 2010 TCG Juniors National Champ, Mike Diaz, 2010 TCG Seniors National Champ, Frank Diaz, Top 4 Worlds Masters 2010, Ray Rizzo, VGC Seniors World Champion 2010 and 2011, and the list goes on and on and on...

I believe worlds in New York is a fantastic idea! There is much to do--NY is a tourist's dream.Affordable hotels in New York and New jersey--all which are near public transportation. And, much, much more--for the love of God--it's New York City!

If they put it in NYC im not staying after for the side events...might get shot walking to my car...

Ok just to prove a small point. NYC cigarettes cost close to $20 dollars a pack. My brand costs me about $5.50-$6 pending on where I go. While I didn't attend Nats this year, I was there last year in Indy. In the inner city, a pack cost me $15. I traveled out of the inner city to the "ghetto" and it cost me the same $5 it did back home. So essentially my point here is, any BIG city that gets worlds is gonna be expensive, because thats how big cities work. I'm pretty sure right outside the NY city limits everything is priced very normally as they would where ever you may come from. Big cities are always pricey.

It should be in Vancouver, although we might riot if a local looses (JK). But seriously it should rotate from northeast to northwest(California) to southeast(Florida) to southwest(Hawaii) or something like that.

New York would be an awful place for Worlds. Worlds ought to be in a sunny vacation destination.

If you want it off the West Coast, we could do Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Dominica, Barcelona, Taiwan, Okinawa, or one of the Portuguese islands.

Still, I think the best choice is simply to move it back to Orlando.

New York would be AWFUL... I can't see Pokemon going there at all. Thats the same Reason I don't see Japan or really Asia in general Happening. Like it or not, thats not what most people have in mind when they think of vacation. Europe could work. Parts of it. I don't see UK happening, or anything Northern. It'd have to be Southern, Spain didn't even send anyone to Worlds in TCG. Portugal islands could be good.

Really, I do not see Worlds leaving North America anytime soon. And I do not see them going South of the Rio Grande

maybe somewhere is the Bahamas. as much as i would like it it wont be in Canada. =(
it has to be somewhere warm and with beaches.

Lolwut? Have to point out you are completely wrong on that part. $10 - $12ish max as of today.

Somehow, I don't think the price of cigarettes is going to be a big factor in deciding the Worlds location.

Realistically, it has to be . . .

Relatively accessible for both US and JPN players
A family holiday destination
Near golf courses
Unlikely to be disrupted by hurricanes

That's what Pokemon want for Worlds, so anywhere that doesn't measure up . . . forget it.

Lets not travel because of cigarette prices? Seems logical.

Worlds will most likely never be in the North Eastern part of the country. The Midwest is lucky enough to get Nationals every, which I think is Pokemon trying to tell us to quit complaining about worlds not being moved closer.

It's the way it has been for nearly 10 years now and shows no sign of changing sadly. Hawaii has got to be the worst location to put worlds every other year. Everyone already knows the financial problems with it so I wont get into that.
