AFAIK, there is no "official" language anywhere in the US.

Nah, just at national level,

there is in fact 27 states that have English as an official language. 4 of these 27 also have another language or languages as official.

It is legal for government use as an administrative language, although not declared in the state constitution. It is kind of like saying English isn't the official language in the US, but that is the language used in the government.

New Mexico and California have laws providing for both Spanish and English, such as government notices being made available in both languages rather than just accomidating them.

Spanish is an official language in Porto Rico

Well, maybe that is why we get to use French cards then. It's an official language at a federal level.
